What exactly does "throttling" mean with your connection? It seems Optimum Online has adjusted their network to govern the cable modems from full-speed of 10 Mbps to 3 Mbps, if you're downloading constantly for over 10 minutes. The throttle is released after about 5-10 mins, though. This is vitile for those are extreme downloaders.

As a matter of fact, I found out at broadbandreports.com Optimum Online forum.

This is just a heads-up for those with the service (as myself).

Yup. I started noticing this about a week ago. Coupled with the random upload capping, I'm almost assuredly switching to Fios when it becomes available in my area. I've been a loyal OOL customer for 8 years; I love how they show their appreciation.

I thought so many people bitched about it at BBR that they stopped doing it.

Optimum Throttling Disappears
Did user complaints prompt policy change?

As we reported yesterday, Optimum Online users had noticed the ISP had been throttling downloads since February, so users began updating their reviews en masse to voice their displeasure. While Optimum or Cablevision didn't return our request for comment, were they listening? As of this afternoon, at least a dozen subscribers in our Optimum On-line forum note that the throttling has mysteriously disappeared.
