That sucks... and as some pointed out already, he worked for Kojima for years and years and still doesn't know him as a person... that says a lot actually.
He didn't work for Kojima, he worked for KoA.

Hayter is a like a ex who won't shut up about being dropped. He should been ditched in MGS3 like the article mentions they were planning he should never of done Big Boss. Dude needs go out and get some air instead of moaning over this it going affect possibility of future jobs. Who going hire a guy who bitches about your company non stop if you decide not to use him

Hayter was amazing on MGS3 so I have no idea why you would write such an awful statement.Or he could just move on instead of being immature about the whole thing. Ever since this started he's been immature about this. On twitter and he keeps harping on it. Sure the situation could have been handled better but at the end of the day they went a different direction. Something they should have done with MGS3.
I'm asking just a thing. If MGS wasn't that famous, Hayter will care that much?I think Hayter deserved a courtesy call from someone to tell him about the replacement. It appeared that he learned of Sutherland when we did and that seems to be pretty insulting for a guy who has played that character up until that point. I'd be mad about that, not necassirly that they wanted to go a different direction, but that they didn't tell me about it. Also, they could have offered him a different character to voice in MGSV. I'm sure he's got other voices he can do.
Uh, compared to full time voice actors that's nothing.
Every time is the same story with these threads. Hayter isn't good, he got worse, he's begging, dude is full of himself, blabla, no matter how many times his qualities and passion are proven.
Well, whatever. He has my respect for speaking his mind, and in my opinion he dodged a bullet with MGSV. Thank you for your work and good luck for the future.

Sad that voice actors still get treated like this sometimes.
Highlighting/quoting some parts
He's just a Hayter.
8th time this jokes been made now?

How can you tell? He barely gave any performance at all.
Knowing how little he speaks in MGSV, can't someone create a mod and add his voice in? Maybe an impersonator does Hayter's snarly Snake voice?
I'm sure people would be thinking differently about Sutherland had MGSV been a better game. Kojima is at fault for trying to make Snake a silent protagonist, but I actually enjoyed Sutherland's performance whenever he spoke.
Are all voice actors this snivelingly pathetic or is this trait limited to Hayter alone. Get over it, you lost.
Hayter's voice in Peace Walker was OTT but the actual acting was fine. He actually delivers his lines with inflection that Kiefer really didn't.
He can do MGS1 Snake pretty well still and that's impressive given how long it's been. He's humble in the fact that he admits he had some faults in his performance but man. His voice is iconic.
I mean compare hayter's "kept you waiting. Huh?" to Kiefer's and it's clear that Hayter got the goofy scripts in a way that Kiefer just didn't.
MGS is a dumb anime and that's why Hayter's voice worked. It made no sense to have kiefer's super serious performance with every one else acting so OTT.
Furthermore, David has every right to be salty. He was a big part of the franchise and interacts with fans all the time. He always used to reply to people on imdb and he gave up a lot of his paycheck to get the original cast back for twin Snakes.
He treated Kojima with a lot of respect. On the 20th anniversary he filmed a video clip saying thank you to Kojima that obviously had a lot of time and effort put into it. He spoke completely in Japanese and Kojima dumps him without even having the gauls to tell him. David only found out he was kicked from the series because he contacted them because he loves playing Snake.
It sucks, there's no excuse and David has handled it pretty well. He only comments now when people ask him and I'm glad he has the guts to say it how it is.
He said he respects Kojima for his mind but is dissapointed with how he acted as a businessman and thats fair. Why bootlick for the sake of it?
