Orphan Black - new Sci-Fi thriller - Saturdays on BBC America

No previews since week 1 for me. Too spoilerific and AV Club agreed. The commercials weren't any better either.

I have an issue with Sarah and Helena being twins. For the 9 episodes so far, Helena has been the one going on about a connection. They've interacted multiple times, and curiosity is the main response from Sarah. I never picked up on anything deeper from her.

Edit:

Sarah mentioned tonight that she see herself in Helena, but I take that as a broader, we're clones, lookalike kind of thing.

Helena asked her if she felt a connection and I think Sarah didn't respond. I think she did feel something.

technically it can mean that either of them is.

So the mystery woman in the skyscraper is someone incapable of having children and was in need of a donor.

Helena asked her if she felt a connection and I think Sarah didn't respond. I think she did feel something.

You don't think the hesitation was nothing more than, Helena is crazy, I can't bring myself to even indulge her?

Also, just because they are twins doesn't mean they have to have a connection.

I've read stuff before that was researched to show twins have some kind of mental connection, ESP or telepathy, something normal blood siblings dont have.

Locking Helena in the trunk was ice cold :(
The music during the intervention's conclusion amused me greatly.
Overall very happy with the show. It's just fun. Says something about a show when a simple hug feels earned. It was predictable, yet uneasy, yet cathartic and above all else a testament to the work Maslany is putting in.

This definitely has the feel of a show that will have a much larger fanbase down the road.

And now, the Arrested Development marathon continues!

holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

whole bunch of crazy awesome stuff

best moment was Alison going "because you BLEEEWW" or whatever she said. I couldn't stop laughing. That scene was perfect.

also it was funny how Sarah and Cosima suddenly had hoarse voices a couple scenes after Helena was screaming at the top of her lungs

It was a great episode and there are some good gifs in the official tumblr. I think the mysterious woman is obviously Tatiana and since she appears to be the mastermind of the organisation she could be the true original. She could have a disease and each of the clones have been experimented with to discover a cure. I think it's also safe to assume that these experiments were successful with Sarah and Helena because Kira has an enhanced regenerative capacity.

Oo, I like this theory.

Could totally see Kira being the end goal as well. Perfection through imperfect variables.

Holy shit if true. If this is the ending, then season 2 better be fucking amazing.

The woman in the tower/reflection is their "mother" who is the original. As in her DNA was used to make all the girls. Only question is now is for what purpose. Most likely Kira's ability to regenerate like Wolverine.

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!
I didn't really like Alison at start, but now I think she's my favorite clone. She should get her own spinoff show about her crazy adventures with Felix.

Damn, I love this show.

I want an Alison/Felix spin-off where they cause chaos in suburbia. Love those two together.

Preview spoilers

The season finale looks insane. The scene with Cosima coughing up blood makes me wonder if they're going to kill off one of the clones in the finale. Alison is probably the most expendable as her plot is kinda secondary to the central mystery, but I have a feeling Cosima might be getting the axe.

Wow this show, this damn show.
I have never seen a production with one person playing multiple roles remain this believable and not devolve into the realm of utterly laughable.

Speculation regarding the "purpose" of the clones: (no preview spoilers, only using stuff from aired eps).

Cosima thought all the clones were identical. This turned out not to be the case, as each clone has a segment of spurious DNA that acts as an identifier. Since the rest of the genotype is the same, the "experiment" still seems to be an extreme case of nature vs. nurture. Behavioral researchers go nuts looking for identical twins separated at birth. The experiment gets a lot "cleaner" when you can have a much larger sample size while minimizing interfering variables.

Sarah and Helena are the key exception. Could the egg have naturally split? Otherwise, why would a group doing such a carefully planned, long-term experiment decide to randomly implant one woman with twins? It's possible, as Alison said her mother used in vitro, but this new woman said she was hired as a surrogate.

Sarah and Helena could be modified even more; do we know if Sarah gave Cosima her own sample? As Sarah seems to be the only one capable of reproduction, could she be the key sample and all the other clones an elaborate control group? Was Kira planned at all by the researchers? What the hell was on that X-ray? How old is the mystery woman (as that would simplify her speculation)?

Why is there only one episode left this season?

This show is getting seriously good. Holy shit. This was easily the best episode so far. And Tatiana Maslany is acting her freaking socks off.

And I concur, Felix and Allison should have a spin off show.

This show is so fun. Alison and Felix together is hilarious and her telling off her intervention... people was so good. Can't wait for the finale. Can't believe there is only one left this season!

I need a YouTube clip of Allison telling off that neighbor. She put a lot of emotion behind it, and it was a really great moment.

Just rewatched episode 5 and hotdamn at Allison's yoga pants for that whole ep. Also, there's obviously something fishy going on with her husband, I think he's gotta be the monitor.

Man, even when she turned around in the chair to Felix at the end, you could see dat ass.

Maybe the actual premise of Orphan Black is create the perfect ass.

I think Alison and Felix are my favourites. You could make an entire awesome show just based on them.

Did not see the Helena/Sarah twist coming. And the cops know! Fuuuuuuuuu

Great episode.

Sarah and Helena are twins?! Clone twins?! whatisthisidonteven

New clone! World domination super mastermind clone or the original?

I also laughed seeing Allison clean Fe's apartment. Those two are so great together.

I like your theory. You just might be onto something!

What the hell was on that X-ray?

I thought the big thing with the X-ray was that it showed no broken bones/internal damage - Kira was totally unharmed despite being hit by a car.

Why is there only one episode left this season?

Because they've wisely chosen to keep each season taut and trim - no filler.

Now that Art knows about Sarah, the only way I see this playing out (now that the revelation that Sarah and Helena are twins) is Helena taking the fall for Sarah and going to prison in her place.
