Orphan Black - new Sci-Fi thriller - Saturdays on BBC America

Alison singing "I'm a Bitch" and acting like one in the episode was fantastic. But my favorite part was the clone meeting with Mrs. S because when the clones start interacting with each other it always leads to great results like Kinesiology? That’s just basically massage therapy. The clones are so convincing as unique people I sometimes forget that they're played by the same amazing actress.

Now that Olivier's gone, I guess we won't see the tail fountain on every "previously on" bit like how The Americans had the burger... thing.

Edit: "I bet you could bounce me like a ball." That may be off, but this show manages to deliver LOL lines every week and I adored the sibling moments between Sarah, Alison, and Fee here.

Although you'd think there'd be something in the back of Cosima's mind along the lines of "well I know she's my monitor so maybe she's feeling forced into hooking up with me to save our relationship."

Holy shit I did not see that ending coming. What a fantastic episode! Allison kicking ass with "I'm A Bitch, I'm A Lover" playing in the background, Sarah bugging Felix just for the fuck of it, Art uncovering the dead clones, Cosima's girlfriend finding the clone club roster and not telling the doctor about Kira, and then that ending! Bam!

that ending was a bit too morbid for my liking but a good episode nonetheless.

Considering the over all tone of the show, yea, it kind of was. Also felt very cheap, pulls you right out of it.

The rest of the show has been mostly great. Like everyone is saying, funny and lighthearted. I thought they were on the verge of taking themselves too seriously early on, but they side stepped that well and it's been a blast ever since.

Anyone know how that Leiki guy picked up on Kaseema knowing of other clones? He must have known before the french girl showed up and that was a while back, practically as soon as she went back to school. Was there an old monitor that reported that she had left on a trip to Toronto? There's still a leap from that to suspecting that she uncovered the whole thing.

One thing I love about Helena is she isn't just some psycho killer/assassin, her abuse is very real and you can tell most times she just doesn't know how to process most things. Her clones are otherized not just because she's conditioned to see them as "false" but also because they're living these full lives that must be completely unfathomable to her. We kinda laugh at her mannerisms but there is this sadness about her obsession with photos and letters of other people's lives. It makes sense that Kira as an innocent child would get through to her on a level no one else has before. They're doing a great job with her.

Just started watching that a few days ago. Had no expectations whatsoever, so wow, what a pleasant surprise. Finally a new show, sci-fi-ish to boot, that kicks ass, has actual charm, and doesn't generate into facepalm-worthy crap writing and horrible dialogue? Yes please.

Pretty good analysis of her. I agree. She's dangerous and psychotic, but also very vulnerable in a believable way... and yet somehow she's still morbidly funny at times because of how awkward and weird she is (eating that jello, dancing with the tail, imagining the conversation with Paul with the photos, etc.). I love the Silent Hill-like noise music that generally accompanies her, too. Great character.

Allison singing in the car was hilarious as was Fi's "Twisted Sister" line.

Brutal ending, but I can't imagine them just offing Kira like that.

Mini spoiler from the next episode preview:
Kira's alive, but critically injured, I think, they showed the ambulance getting her and trying to help her out.

And yes, Allison singing was hilarious. Is that an Alanis Morissette song or something? I imagine that it sounds so rebellious and edgy for a suburban soccer mom, LOL.

maybe they'll do some clone shenanigans w/ Kira?

Caught up. Still loving this show. Glad Paul is still around. Cosima is blind. Too wet behind the ears. At least Sarah can get laid and still keep it together.

Alison went up a couple notches on the hot meter in the latest episode.

Just watched the DVR. Holy hell at that ending.

- Delphine does not seem like a normal watcher. Knows too much.
- Is Sarah an unknown clone, or one long thought dead?
- Still think Alison's husband is the watcher. If not, then he was having an affair.
- Glad to see Art not being a moron. Refreshing for that type of character in this type of show.
- How is the soccer mom my favorite clone? That shouldn't happen.

It's heavily hinted that Sarah isn't a clone, but the original. We know some of the kids her mom/guardian took in were tested on and to be hid. We know she's the only one that can give birth (Allison brings this up in one of the earlier eps, its why she had to adopt) and now we know the Leekie was unaware of her or at least surprised to hear her name. My money is on her being the "original." The others just being copies of her.

-She's a monitor with a conscience.
-I'm think that Sarah isn't the original. If you're going to clone someone, do you send the original to an orphanage?
-Alison's husband might not have been a monitor, but he was keeping track of an old flame or lying about the girlfriend that had lupus.
-But Art and his partner are doing that thing were they keep their findings to themselves. That makes them expendable things things go sideways. And the secret of the clones stays buried.
-Alison started out as a soccer mom bitch and has grown in to one of the best characters because of how well affected Tatiana's performance of her is when she's lucid and then when she's medicated, going off the deep end.

They didn't "send" her to the orphanage though. With the mother's past and that smuggler they keep bringing up it's heavily hinted that Sarah was smuggled out of somewhere/stolen. In the last episode she even says the last time she saw him, he made her promise to take Sarah and run.

Nah, I think there's more than this. Other monitors seem to go through at least one other layer. Delphine goes straight to the big bad. I also interpreted her omission of Kira to be due to surprise/curiosity at her existence rather than a decision to protect some random name on the paper.

Good point about Art and the partner though. I don't think they'll be off'd, at least not both. Art seems like the character you'd keep around for Season 2 when the clones need to use resources for information.

It's only logical. What do the clones have in common? That they can't have children. Except Sarah. And if I recall correctly the clones that we have a background on were created by in vitro fertilization. Except again, as far as we know, Sarah.

The only logical conclusion is that Sarah was either a normal child that was cloned or some sort of "master" clone.

I wouldn't have known about this show if it weren't for this thread, so thanks OP for creating it. I started the first episode Friday night and got all caught up last night. My wife and I are both really into it. Great stuff and very amazing how the main actress handles all the characters.

Just after midway through each episode I caught myself checking the timeline on my DVR because I was sure I was getting hit with a cliffhanger. Then the episode continued and just kept delivering. Pretty amazing content thrown at you all the time.

I have this fear that this show is going to jump the shark in season 2. I'm afraid it's going to spiral out of control when they get too far into it.

I started to think that the nosy neighbour is just that, a really nosy and obnoxious neighbour, and not the watcher. I think Allison's watcher is that Asian lady we've seen around. Dunno why, but they seemed to bring brief attention to her in strange moments.

I think the husband is a red herring but the phone call as he burned the letters was definitely suspicious.

One season I love is more than what most TV shows give me. Even if they jump the shark on season two It's still a win.

Allison's monitor could also be the annoying neighbor woman's husband - the one she had sex with in the car. He always pops in at random moments and he seems attracted to Allison.

Yeah. Plus he has a super nosy wife who could (unknowingly) feed him lots of information. It's like monitoring her from a nice, safe distance.
