10 to 13 episodes is the sweet spot for dramas. I'm very happy that Orphan Black in the position to get a second season.
Given what we've seen so far, I think 10 sounds good for Orphan Black. The pace is pretty unrelenting and they chew through so much material each week that doing many more than that might be very difficult.

I just watched episode 5 and when Vic found the real Sarah she was able to COMPLETELY diffuse the situation by giving him the money she already had right then and there.

Was amazing.

New episode tonight:
Variations Under Domestication

Sarah’s hunt for answers is interrupted by a trip to the suburbs. Alison’s paranoia has boiled over, putting all the Orphans at risk.

good news. it was off to a slow and cheesy start but has picked up quite a bit. the wife and i are digging it.

There was one thing I was worried about and I don't know if anyone else shares this feeling. I don't mind a loose cannon character like Vic, but I don't think he's a character that should be completely enlightened to what's going on with like Paul, Sarah, Beth, Allison, and Cosima. Luckily I think he's too much of a simpleton to fully understand what is going on. He might think Sarah is still being a grifter, playing everyone in this posh neighborhood for a fool. I do think that something more definitive with him should have happened instead of closing the garage door on him.

Other than that, another good episode with deft pacing and plotting.

Edit:

I saw what looked like Gatorade bottles in the background in the garage.

Holy wow, crazy episode. The craft room torture scene was amazing. I loved when Allison started playing with the craft scissors and then the glue gun - and it turned out to be all for nothing! Poor Donnie.

so was Alison's husband's ex-girl a clone too? She reacted weirdly when he said the ex died of lupus.

She reacted that way because he was clearly lying. It's never lupus.

One ep in, just posting to subscribe to catch up after I, well, catched up :)

Allison's party playlist was hilarious, too.

If Donnie was just burning letters from a deceased ex when he ducked out in the middle of the night, then why was he on the phone? “No, it’s fine, don’t worry. If anything else comes up I’ll let you know.”

i thought he was covering up an affair with the male blond neighbor at first but... i dunno anymore.

I didn't like the neolution thing but I liked that Cosima did stuff outside of the clone circle. I also liked the meddling neighbor and the Sarah/Alison party chaos but it's unfortunate that Vic appears only to get tortured. And Paul is generally awful at his job but at least he knows how to fight.

This series is actually a nice surprise, anyone on the fence or wondering about this thread should really watch it. The first episode is by far the most uninteresting one, it gets better with every episode :)

Perfect combination of comedy and suspense. Potluck party + hot glue interrogations D:

Hehe yeah and poor Vic will probably have no hands left by the end of the season lol...

Why did Sarah say
9 clones...
? she just said anything at this point or did I miss something...
aren't we up to only 5 that we know of...?

Haha, that blonde neighbour's husband (Chad) is totally the guy playing Sam Fisher in the new Splinter Cell.

I love how this episode took a classic sitcom setup and then added in a bunch of pretty messed up stuff.

Yes. great episode. The whole "party/get together where a bunch of personalities and plotlines intersect while people hide and lie" is one of my favorite set ups. Add clones to the mix and you got a stew goin. Really fun.

Amusing story:
What is The Brown-Bag Sad-Face Gag?

When “Orphan Black” co-creator John Fawcett first met Matt Frewer (Dr. Aldous Leekie) as a guest director on another series, Mr. Frewer decided to give him a special initiation to working with the star, on their first day on set. Upon John’s arrival, John was advised of an ‘issue’ with the performer, that day: Mr. Frewer would be appearing on set wearing a brown paper bag with a ‘sad face.’ John was told to simply work around it, as if nothing was unusual about this strange behavior on the part of the star. Ever the professional, John duly observed this advice, and engaged Frewer’s Brown Bagged/Sad Face on preparing their first shot together as if absolutely nothing were out of the ordinary. He had no idea the entire cast & crew were in on the gag until Mr. Frewer finally revealed he was being punked. They became instant friends. To mark their reunion on “Orphan Black,” John arranged for every member of the cast and crew on deck for Frewer’s first day of shooting to wear Brown Bag Sad Faces to the set. Mr. Frewer was suitably delighted.
