If the intruder story is true (which will be hard to prove) this is very sad and tragic. If he is a good guy, he must be feeling like a monster. In South Africa this is not that uncommon ( to shoot burglars intruding homes), these accidents are bound to happen. We only doubt his story somehow because he is a celebrity.

I am a paraymplian and I couldn't believe this when I seen it on the news and then I look it on the net to confirm. Very sad...

London was a unreal experience for me, meeting all get athletes I look up too like Oscar:(. I will never forget 2012.

As someone who grew up in South Africa, where being murdered in your sleep by burglars is more common than anyone would like, hearing a person at 4am in your house is your worst nightmare...

So tragic. :/

Add to this the fact that a quick death is the least of your worries. The crime in SA can be particularly sadistic.

I dunno about that... outside of weirdo witchdoctor shit most of the crime seems to have a focus on efficiency. The key thing is that there is no respect for life, so if it is easier to shoot someone whilst hijacking a car, it is far more likely to happen - whether you acquiesce or not.

Why was he special? Aren't those things pretty much trampolines he hung from his legs?

While he is the first person to compete at a high enough level with them. But I do think that according to the math that has been done on the blades that they are better than calves in terms of speed.

EDIT: That whole stuff in the beginning of the thread about a valentines day surprise gone wrong is fucking stupid to even think about. If you shoot anything that moves for no reason other than it is on your property than you should not be allowed to hold a weapon.

Makes no sense. This guy is a notorious athlete, I wouldn't be surprised if the first call he placed would be to his press agent/ high profile lawyer.
I would put my money on domestic violence. Would have been a friend or a relative, I MIGHT have believed the trespassing, but athletes have a sad.. track record when it comes to wives dying violently. Also, you can't see who's coming at you and yet you're able to place two fatal shots like a veteran hitman? considering the arm was probably a defensive wound, the whole "incident" seems quite fishy.

"notorious athlete"... so "they" are more likely to hit their women you say? wtf?
also: where did you learn how to see in the dark, where the usual human being DOES NOT see who's coming at you - people even have difficulties determining whether a shadow is moving towards them, or away.
it's dark, you can't see shit, you think there's a threat, you're scared shitless, you fuck up. happens to "professionals" all the time. that's why you shouldn't have a gun at home.

What an absolute nutcase. Why is there so much pity for the guy going around? He has killed a woman.

At this stage most people are giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming that he tragically killed his girlfriend in a case of mistaken identity. I think that's fair, no?

For the most part, the SA police force would struggle to organise a shag in a brothel so I'm taking any other "news" with a grain of salt.
