I've been thinking about it for a while, and I was wondering if I can make a Silent Hill community thread? I tried to look if there was a general Silent Hill thread, but I couldn't seem to find it (if there is one then plz send me a link to it). I know there's a horror general thread, but I haven't found the Silent Hill one yet.

I just finished Silent Hill 4, and Downpour and have been dying to talk about it. I've also played every other Silent Hill, so I know quite a bit about the series.

Nice - look forward to it, as I keep meaning to start the Silent Hill games ever since I freaked out of the first one a decade ago.

Width is up to you as the forum will scale it to your screen, but i'd recommend not making them too tall as that'll take a lot of scrolling on smaller screen and smartphones.

I made the Resogun OT quite wide to accomodate 1920x1080 displays first, but it's perfectly fine to view on both Android and iOS aswell.

Dear all,,

I would like some advice for creating OT's I am making the one for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong number.

I have some awesome ideas but do not want to come to the conclusion that it wont upload due to dimension mistakes or file sizes at the last moment.

Is there a page with all the guidelines of posting an OT? The official Guidelines dont help with regards to technical specs.

  • just use a solid image host like abload
  • i tend to stick with around 1000 width on images
  • if you have text in images make sure its properly sized with an legible font and readable without squinting
  • as long its not super gif heavy or filled with lots of high-res images most threads should load fine

Thank you!

I was planning to include a couple gifs, any indication of total file size? I dont want people with a slower internet connection not to be able to access the OT

Its what Ive been doing most of this time. As long as you are not doing something like basically "stealing" art and claiming its your own I would think everything is good to go. Also if things are actually materials made by other users from somewhere else for example, giving credit in a sort of credits section somewhere in your own OT is also appreciated. Such as what I had done thanks to fonts / graphics downloaded from a deviant art user.

One thing though is these might start off as import impression thread that would morph eventually into an OT. Similar to what happened with my Natural Doctrine thread. Also depending on how much resources I can actually pull from the official HPs. If there is not enough to make an actual OT. Will see though. Anyways wanted to just reserve it as a heads up, for those questioning if this is legit, take a look at my more recent OT as an example of work put into it OTs. Am trying to up the general quality as know the ones I have done in the past were not as well done Esp my Akiba's Trip 2 OT... Anyways heres the Sword Art Online - Hollow Fragment OT below.

I can confirm that it does indeed look good on mobile, I think I will start designing my OTs for 1080p

Indeed. It would be awesome with native support for WebM, that way I'd use it for a rolling banner in my E3 thread. But I assume the load on the servers during E3 would be far greater than it the past.

I'm planning on using some SVG files however, but last year when I tried that and was using Google Drive, some people had trouble seeing the images. What alternatives are there (apart from Dropbox)?

Mega Man GB games' VC release by Refyref (24th April 2014)

The Game Boy Mega Man games are coming out on Virtual Console in May, and I wanted to make an OT for them. After discussing it, I decided that only one OT is needed for them, since a few similar sequels released within a few weeks probably don't need multiple threads. So this will be an OT for the MMGB series' VC release.

I thought people had issues due to viewing the thread on a mobile device?

Anyways, regarding WebMs, there is a work around.

This will show a WebM to those who have the add-on installed while it will show a GIF to those who don't have it installed. That would require you to make a GIF and WebM though.

Actually it's a good question since I have seen people or moderators reused the Official Thread and moved the Official Thread from Community to Gaming forum when the games released in America or Europe.

I forgot to address this earlier, I think, but from henceforth people can't really put their name down for stuff that's unannounced. I'm not removing anything that was ALREADY there, but going forward I think we shouldn't be talking about doing OTs for things that are years away or might not even exist.

My plan is to make an Import OT prior to the NA OT, with info/guides for import players. My kanji skill is a little rusty, so any help with necessary translations would be much appreciated.

All the OT contributors are keeping fingers crossed that this game actually launches this year like they announced it would. Some of us in PersonaGAF might even go to Japan just to pick this game up if the timing works out!

Will we get an individual thread for the Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 and Super Smash Bros. Invitational?

If it is the former, then I think it should be named "E3 2014 | Play Nintendo". If it is the latter, then please ignore me lol.

It shouldn't include all of it, I think separate threads should be made for the others. Although I think the Treehouse Live videos will probably have seperate pages for each game they show.

I think we should consider ending the practice of using images with baked in text for OTs.

It may look great on a big monitor, but we're well into the age of mobile devices, and big baked in images don't work well at all for those platforms. The large image download size is one issue, but more importantly is that it breaks the ability for mobile web browsers to fashion responsive web sites that fit with mobile resolutions.

Super Smash Bros. Invitational and Smash-Fest by IntelliHeath (29nd April 2014)

This thread would be solely for Tournament and Impression from Invitational and discussions and impressions from Smash-Fest; so it would be easier to keep both events in one thread to avoid first page being overridden by Smash threads; since we are going to learn more about newcomers and informations from the Digital Event which would led into new thread as well.

Maybe just before the E3 digital event, since GAF is going to be up and down during and after the event, and the fact they could start posting videos/streaming once E3 opens to press (which is around the time the Nintendo presentation finishes?)
