Some genres are missing some killer titles, possibly turning off some picky gamers, but for the most part, the platform has decent and consistent support. Almost a pity Microsoft is pulling the plug on it in favor of Xbox 360.
It's definitely a more Western-oriented console than the competition, but the way the industry is evolving these days, it isn't as bad as it would be if the Xbox was released 15 years ago.
A nice touch is how many multi-platform games tend to end up better on the Microsoft machine.
Well you're absolutly right. The PS2 hasn't even sold NEARLY as much as the Xbox has worldwide. And don't give me any numbers, Sony just paid to get those numbers out... they have no soul, they are poor sports and soar losers, much like their fan base.
But through it all, what we have here is an age old battle on what system is better, it's like this every generation of consoles. Let's just put something to rest here and now... the PS2 has been destroyed TWICE in it's life time. The Sega Dreamcast DESTROYED the PS2 and the Microsoft XBOX took a piss on it, basically. That's just the way I see it.
By the way, I am not asian so that is why I like Xbox more, more games I can relate to, not some weird ass Japanese games that don't make much sense and are only played by pencil necked dweebed white kids and fucking people like that.
But it's all good, I am a big fan of Tekken so of course I still have my PS2, but other than Tekken it doens't have anything else that interests me, and I have never ever tooken my PS2 online. Guess what? The only people who play PS2 online are the game testers themselves, my friends work at EA and they told me that as a fact, jack!
What can you do? Sony makes good tv's and other equipment like that, but when it comes to making consoles, it needs to make a true gaming machine first in order to really be a true contender...

When I bought my Xbox, I bought it from a clerk who you could just tell was a Sony PS2 fan, as they could barely lift the thing up... you know the type... scrawny, gay, loser, nasty... yeah...
Anyways... talk about ruining moments... Forza scored much higher than Gran Turismo 4, that is a fact right? Well, get this... apparenlty Forza also outsold the almighty GT4. How is that possible you ask? Simple... there are more Xbox users worldwide than there are PS2 users. I bet you guys didn't know that?
Oh, and Gran Turismo 5 is going to go multi-platform next gen and the better version will be on the 360 mainly because 360 is more americanized, the system itself has a better feel for REAL cars.

I would have to disagree. I've got the full Xbox version and the PS2 version on an OPM demo and while they are both pretty close as far as gameplay, Xbox still gets the win for 480p and Dolby Digital 5.1 for me. Put them both on a standard resolution TV and then maybe its a tie at best.

Don't forget Beach Spikers which is a REAL volleyball game.
And as far as BO# is concerned, yes I have ps2 has more sparks, but honestly just controls a bit better, which is key in a game with gameplay based on speed.

Good post. There are niche games on the system. I've played most of what you listed and enjoyed what I've played with Steel Battalion being my favorite. For anyone complaining about niche games Steel Battalion, Phantom Dust, Phantom Crash and Otogi 1/2 can fill up any niche starved gamer for quite a while.

other than multiplat games, I cannot think of a single title im really missing out on by not owning an xbox. Sorry but other than an overrated FPS and consistently overhyped titles, theres nothing of much interest on that console.

I own the online version too, it was way too complectaed to follow, gave up after an hour. My Tank keeps falling over because i keep turning at high speeds, you're mech screaches and wobbles then you slowly drop to you're side. Custom soundtraclks play through a radio like filter, that was a neat touch. But the game is too complecated, couldnt be bothered :lol
If only i could scan a pic of beckham and stick it inside my Tank, then SB = GOTY
