I hope you are joking. You are talking about one of the only true two sport athletes in the modern era.
As for his career season average in the NFL, he didn't get the touches to compete yardage wise, but his production is unquestionable. His career rushing average per touch is 5.4.
The all time running back career record is 5.2 held by Jim Brown. Adrian Peterson's is 5.0.
I'm not joking. He's
over-rated, but not necessarily bad. People were listing him in the "Most dominating athlete" thread from this past week, which is insane. He never dominated any sport he played in, even though he played professionally in two sports.
Carries and production are an important part of being a running back. Being able to be used on 2 or 3 downs adds value to a running back. If a player cannot sustain carries, either because he's playing two sports, out of condition, injury prone, or whatever it is, then they deserve less praise. Bo Jackson, though, still receives so much praise. Hell, ESPN picked him as like #1 in some Top Athletes list from the mid-2000s.
A guy who averages 600 yards rushing, 3 touchdowns, and 100 yards receiving a season
cannot be in any "most -anything-" category other than "most over-rated." I don't know his baseball statistics as well, but he only batted over .260 like twice in his career, and he had one good season with Kansas City in 1989. Otherwise, he had pretty much below average batting statistics, often batting below .250 and aside from the one year, never had a ton of RBIs. Good defensive player, of course.
Bo Jackson wasn't bad, but he's made a legacy off of a small handful of highlight reel runs, a number of amazing catches, and all out hustle when he played. But for the praise the he gets, he's the definition of over-rated.
