No, Remedy hasn't given up on the Alan Wake franchise, and no, the developer doesn't appear to be working on a sequel for the moment - its hands are full with Xbox One's Quantum Break, out next year. You may deflate with disappointment at your leisure.

"You never know about the future and as have we have said about Alan Wake, the sequel didn't work out at this point," he went on. "But definitely we are looking for opportunities to do more, someday, when the time is right."
"When Alan Wake came out, it was not a huge hit on day one. The Alan Wake franchise has moved more than 3 million copies since, which is a nice figure. But when the game was released, that was not the case immediately."
