i have no idea what is going on. but at least they change it up a bit it looks like, and not just "draw pac man. eat ghost. win!"

My thoughts exactly. It looks fun, and was fun at E3, but I worry about it (and most other early DS games) depth.

Well, I'm interested. It's pretty and seems to have quite a bit of variety. I'll await impressions though.

That pen is awesome.

Art's absolutely great, but: MINI-GAMES!!!!!1111111111

Seriously, fuck mini-games. I want something holistically cohesive, not a bunch of trivial and poorly-designed novelty tasks. One Wario Ware was enough.

The way it combines art with the fast paced gameplay of Wario Ware and possibly some simple puzzles makes for an awesome handheld concept. Quick bursts of gameplay are good for this sort of platform, which I think is pretty much the idea of handheld-centric development.

But of course I don't really know how Pac Pix plays, so I'll reserve judgment.

Mama Smurf: Yes.

Amir0x: Fuck that noise. Y'know what I play on my GBA SP? The epic 2D shit lazy-ass fucking devs can't be bothered to develop for consoles. The Fire Emblems, the Minish Caps, the Tactics Ogres. All of these can be played in short bursts when the devs bother to implement a decent save/sleep system. Fuck, gimme some good puzzlers over this shallow mini-game shit.

Fuck mini-games. Now that devs have figured out that a certain shitheel segment of the gaming population will pay the dollars for shallow, once-off masturbatory exercises in controller twiddling and OMG Japanese zaniness!!!!, we can expect more handheld dev resources to go towards shit like this and Feel the Magic than a smartly-designed puzzler or 2D epic product. Boo.

That stylus is the cutest thing ever, I'd buy the game just for that. (Okay not really, I want the game too...) It does looks better than did it a month ago. :lol

I think you're overreacting a tad. Fire Emblem is one of my most favorite games this generation. Enjoying something like Wario Ware doesn't really change what does and does not appeal to me, since every genre is going to eventually get filled just fine. Similarly, you're jumping to conclusions a bit on Pac Pix.

If Pac Pix played more like a puzzle game, would it appeal to you? If Pac Pix was more like a party game, would it appeal to you? I like the combination of art, fast paced, quick-burst gameplay and simple puzzles. It's something that's diversionary rather than requiring large investments of time, and I think it has its place. And, hell, maybe the DS is as good a place as any. And as we all know, if you don't want to have "gimmicks" or "novelties" or whatever you call what the DS does, then you can play and enjoy the PSP. No one is saying otherwise, I don't think. Everything appeals to a specific set of people.

Good lord.

The whole "minigame" aspect of these DS games doesn't bother me too much now. I have no idea what's going on in those screens tho. I see a purchase out of pure curiosity.

Also, did we ever get answers on the other Pac Man DS game being made?

WHERE THE HELL IS PAC-N-ROLL!? IT IS A FAR SUPERIOR PRODUCT!

Drawing Pac-Man is stupid. It was stupid at E3 last year and it'll be stupid when this releases, even if they have gussied it up with boss fights or whatever.

ITS PAC MAN. You were looking for a fucking epic quest staring PAC MAN?

Oh my God there's a genre of games I don't like! Now they're going to stop making Fire Emblem or Zelda or Final Fantasy.... wait, no they're not.

Hunger is the best spice, and it appears DS fans are FUCKING HUNGRY.
Actually I would argue that this game looks far more interesting than anything put on a console in the last five years. Yes, DS owners may be hunger but that doesn't warrant dismissing this game because you have a huge piece of wood up your ass.

We need impressions, but it still doesn't seem worth it as a full game.

edit: I thougt you guys said MAF gets to troll Nintendo threads because he's funny?

Nintendo fans could be led into a lake of lava with only the promises of bright colors.
There is something to be said about the visual aesthetic of a game though. And that goes a long way when differentiating games from other visual mediums. I don't think any game does this better than Pac-Man, with the exception of a few Imagic games such as Atlantis and Demon Attack.
