Pachter/EEDAR predict NA Wii U sales came in between 110,000 and 125,000 in January

Cut a commercial showing Mario, Sonic Racing, ZombiU, Assassin's Creed, Blops, Tekken, etc. Show the pad features in action on ZombiU. Show a kid playing Sonic, then their sister takes over the tv and he hits a button and starts playing on the pad. Show someone downloading a game and playing it immediately. All of this in one commercial. They should have been running it since October but it's not too late. There are solid games available for this system. Show people that they exist.

Yes, all that and something to make it clear it's not a Wii controller. Like "The all-new Wii U system can also play all your old Wii games! Controller with 6.2 inch screen included!".

If those U numbers are true, that's actually significantly higher than I expected. Face it, until the Nintendo games get released, it's basically a more expensive PS3 with much less content (and in many cases, inferior ports). Pulling almost PS3 numbers at this point in time ain't the end of the world by any means.

February will be terrible, but maybe March will see some improvement. Monster Hunter and Lego on the same day, no less.

If Pachter is right, those numbers are disastrous; January was a 5 week month, which puts it at about 25k weekly.

Having said that, he highballed December sales, and I think he's lowballing January.

EDIT:
Although I haven't seen a console with so much unrelenting negativity and desire for it to fail, so I dunno.

So, if these numbers are higher than you expected, just how terrible are you expecting the February numbers to be?

I hate to see a videogame console hated on by gamers, but lets face it meng, Nintendo hasn't exactly made it easy NOT to.

This post should indicate to people how bad January was for Nintendo. His prediction of bad sales was actually double the final actual total.

A system with no games not selling? That's not really a surprise.

Dropping the price will not help in the long run. Nintendo need content badly.

Im guessing by e3 they'll drop some bombs about what will be released this year. I'm hoping for a price cut personally, but who knows. Hopefully they're misfortune means a $50 cheaper Wii U by Q4 2013.

I think they need to show something before E3 even. Games shown at E3 is mostly months away. Consumers need to know the money they use at least gets them something sooner rather than later.

Nintendo should just pull a Sony. Price drop, console revision, and back it up with tons of first party support, and start rebranding/all new marketing.

Alright the revision isn't necessary. But it isn't impossible stuff.

They should give the actual console box itself a look of some sort and bring it to the consumer's eye. People still think this system is just a controller for the Wii.

Wii U is selling very poorly, but also consider the economy is very different from those times as well.

Yeah, economy isn't that bad. More expensive entertainment devices are selling more.

I guess the problem is that when Sony did it they weren't facing dwindling 3rd party support, and they weren't facing 2 upcoming console launches they'd have to compete with.

In the long run I don't think anything will help this underpowered machine. It needed its big games to hit at or near launch, not one year later when the two next-gen consoles arrive.

Or in 2015, as is the case with Zelda. Whole thing is just a massive failure in every possible respect.

um, what do you think the Nintendo Direct was.

Nintendo will not reveal something major at ND. I think GDC is the right time to show something more.

I've been using my Wii U only for Netflix since December. I have very little interest of anything I've seen so far. Since 3rd parties still doesn't get the Nintendo system, Nintendo better deliver soon.
