Saber?! Demonic swarm technology??

This is just a bad take. The original game developed by chmielarz was exceptional at the time.
Interesting that it's been farmed out to Saber, they've been on a bit of a hot streak lately, even World War Z became dope in the end.

Yeah I saw the trailer later, it's on unrealIt's a different developer, as mentioned above. Saber might be lending them Swarm, possibly, but more likely it's a custom engine or Unity/Unreal project? Not sure if Anshar has named its engine yet.
Can't say I fully agree. I enjoyed it for what it was, despite what seemed like a few odd story jumps.Painkiller H&D was fucking awful tbh.
You remember wrong then, it was at the time one of the wildest fps ever.I don't remember the weapons and combat feeling particularly good
Yes everybody remembers that cool gimmick. You remember wrong then, it was at the time one of the wildest fps ever.
They had a stake launcher that would nail enemies to walls. For that weapon only the game is legendary.
Then you remember that painkiller combat had some cool things going for it, which makes your first statement invalid.Yes everybody remembers that cool gimmick.
Which was promptly copied over by better games (HL2 and FEAR come to mind).

having cool ideas is not the same as having good gunplay.
the weapons can have interesting ideas, and at the same time feel bad to actually use.
painkiller specifically had really weak gunmodel animations, and especially the steak gun felt weird. not only was the animation kinda weak, but also it's very clearly visible that the actual projectile doesn't come out of your gun, but out of the center of your camera view.
the accompanying sound effect while shooting it also doesn't sound all that amazing. it's just a little thud sound.
My problem was with how much it axed. Think the remake only contained around 65% of the original + expansion in terms of content. Can't say I fully agree. I enjoyed it for what it was, despite what seemed like a few odd story jumps.
It's a great game though I think the enemy hitboxes could be a bit more forgiving.GOG currently have Painkiller Black Edition at 80% off so I'm gonna play through that whilst I wait for the reviews (& performance info) on this one.

I lost all of my excitement about it when I saw what is the devs vision for this game (PvE co-op shooter with annoying characters). There has been some gameplays making the rounds online and all of them feel really souless and not even close to original Painkiller. Here's one of the examples
I've been asking the same thing the moment I heard some impressions on this game and thought it has to be some kind of mistake. But the more I delved into it, it became obvious this might not be a game I wanted from this IP. I'm curious about the reviews thoughWho is this for?
