PAL Charts - Week 12, 2014

Titanfall drop is normal.
Halo 3: From "2nd faster seller EVER behind GTA:SA" to "‘Halo 3’ loses some of its opening week glitz with a 79% drop in sales"

I can recall several posts recently saying that Infamous alone wouldn't be enough to unseat Titanfall, but combined MGSV GZ sales might be... yet not only does Infamous take the top, but PS4 MGS takes the number 2 spot as well. God damn.

Very surprised by how low the 360 version of GZ sold compared to every other version though. Unusual in the UK.

Also... holy shit at a Vita game making the top ten.

With the I:SS bubdle selling well, it's somewhat surprising that other software didn't see a boost.

Much like the TF bundle didn't result in a boost for any X1 software last week.

How can you say the software didn't increase? All the big multiplats are on the chart and NFS returned. There are 7 new games on the chart even if sales for the other games went up their relative positions would fall. I'm not saying the sales did go up but there is no way of knowing.

Trying to understand your contention. Should more Ps4 games be charting or should the charting games be higher.

I wouldn't compare titanfall sales to the likes of Halo and GTA. When you sale that many copies the drop off will be more pronounced due to the insane first week numbers. Its not as if Titanfall set any records. I will say that the drop is probably with in the average normal range of drops. Don't know if that is good or bad from Microsofts perspective though.

Can we take a second to acknowledge how well MGS is doing. It's doing good numbers in the Japanese charts also at #2 and #5 for PS3 and PS4 respectfully. I know that the game doesn't have a ton of content, but it's a shame that so many people wanted it to fail. Especially after Lords of Shadow 2 bombed. Konami needs hits right now.

They might need hits, but this should not have been a hit.

Nah it's way too pedestrian like SS.
The enemy types where more unique in inFamous 2 I agree and their scale was massive... But the overall story in inFamous 1 was way more plot twisting and amazing in my opinion

Lies, betrayal, time traveling

Too cool

TF dropping is significant like what some people have stated

A suppose system seller dropping down that quickly is not good

Especially after bundling it with the console and giving the console a price drop

Signs are good for Phantom Pain. Konami must be happy. (if the US # are good too)

I wouldnt be sure about it yet. The backlash from people not knowing that this is a demo is inevitable, as well as a drop next week. I dont think this game will have much legs, unlike Infamous which is probably the best PS4 game.

I'm not surprised by the drop. An exclusive releases and a huge franchise released a game. I would be worried if titanfall keeps dropping but if it stays top 5 for weeks to come then its a success. With infamous pre orders of course it would number one on release over an already released game

well see what legs these three have

I guess we've all seen Titanfall.

It's just so damn funny

For Titanfall, with all that hype and many including MS touting it as the reason to own an xb1?

That's not standard.

Yes it is. Early in a generation, with a low install base, big titles are heavily skewed (sales wise) by preorders. Then compare what numbers titles in the UK Top10 usually sell, and you see why a ~80% drop means its getting down to "normal" levels.

Normal drop for Titanfall guys.

Amazing inFAMOUS and Ground Zeroes performance... in fact ~30k on PS4 alone amazes me because I expect digital > retail for this game on PS4.

PS4 is the best selling console againg with sales I guess between 20k and 30k... Xbone drop is expected but it is not a console with good demand without a big game so I fear that it will drop even more :(

9 titles in the TOP40 is PS4... crazy.

Surprised to see Titanfall fall this bad, maybe it'll rise next week.

Hopefully this bodes well for Infamous in the US. Best entry in the series. Sucker Punch deserves these sales.
I'm 3 powers in and in no way is this game better than I1 or I2 besides the graphics, game's still fun though.

It sold amazingly in the first week. Better than a Naughty Dog game. It was always going to be a massive drop.

I think, the drop percentage in itself tells us nothing. It´ll be way more interesting next week, to see what kind of legs ISS and TF are developing.

But a question: is Wotta vetted? I don´t remember.

Disagree entirely. Neither of the first 2 grabbed me enough to even finish the game. This one grabbed me by the balls so hard I've ended up platinuming it.

The coming weeks will be interesting seeing as March's main games have already released

That is true. When it comes to retail stuff there really isn't much else coming this month. I wonder if Sony will be able to improve the stock situation as well, because it still is abysmal here in Germany. It's so bad that I could probably sell my used system for more than 500€.

Especially for such a game its normal - big hype, especially great first week sales and then it goes back to normal. Especially when the userbase is so low and consist mostly of hardcore players.

Titanfall One < 114,367
01 (NE) PS3 UNCHARTED 3: DRAKE'S DECEPTION (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 116.000

I doubt it sold more than TLOU which still holds the biggest new IP launch since LA Noire

Yup.

I was thinking that a fair comparison away from that post about "selling better than a Naughty Dog game" would be the original Uncharted, but I can't find numbers on it. Finally found it dug away in a Chart Track news post, but it's not talked about much... Probably because it debuted at #28.

Meta is frankly irrelevant here, we all know this was never a normal game, especially not to MS.

Which is frankly irrelevant in a sales discussion, as these titles always perform in the same pattern.
If it is successfully adapted by the consumer can only be seen, if it develops "legs".

Well done Sucker Punch. Thoroughly deserved. InFamous has always been great but underappreciated, so it's good to finally see them getting what they deserve,

I can't see how MS and EA see that TF drop and not be at least a bit disappointed. This may be a normal drop for AAA releases, but EA and MS clearly wanted TF to be more than just another AAA release given the marketing muscle they put behind it.

I would expect Ground Zeroes PS3 to be #2 overall behind the PS4 version due to PSN sales.

GZ + Peace Walker HD for 19.99 was too good of a deal to pass on

Honestly surprised GZ sold that much, the price is laughable for the content provided. I'm guessing a decent amount of people who bought it retail just aren't that informed on what the game actually is, a demo.

I've put in more hours so far than I did on the 100% Infamous save and will probably put in more hours overall once I catch up to the extra hours on my second InFamous playthrough. Still hovering around 40% completion.

There's a lot of content there with the extra missions which apparently don't count. Just depends if that content is worth it to you.

I know it's "tales from the ass" but given the marketing muscle MS put behind it, even forgetting the amount they paid EA for the exclusivity for a moment, I doubt they are seeing any kind of profit from it.
