Palworld has the highest concurrent player count of any paid game in the history of Steam

Attack of the Fanboy says this about the game
Although Palworld can provide an enjoyable experience for a while, it's a hard sell. It feels like halves of two different games that, when put together, don't seem to make a whole. [Early Access Provisional Score = 50]
But IGN gave it an 8 in their Early Access review.

Palworld is actually enjoyable. I'm noticing a trend of it's Sony fans (not available) and Nintendo fans (upset about Pokemon similarities) that are hating it while everyone else is clearly enjoying the game.

That's great and all, but I think we're overdue now for rofif rofif to remind us how Forspoken did it better.
no. It's just another example of terrible games doing great sales and not the other way around. Game quality often got nothing to do with it's sales

I've tried to summarize my 6 hours with the game but this screenshot is the best thing that comes to mind.

Palworld is peak shitposting that actually works as a competent game (mostly).

Forspoken really lucked out that Redfall and the Gollum game came out the same year to save it from being the worst release of the year.
how ironic, it being one of best games in 2023. again - quality =/= correlation with sales.
You let that propaganda hate bandwagon influence your opinions. You don't even know you are manipulated.

Some people enjoyed Gollum and Redfall, just like some people liked Forspoken. It's fine to enjoy bad games and I don't judge you for doing so.

Is it a legit good game or its just the meme game of the moment?
I've watched almost 3 hours yesterday (skipping) and it's just beating fake pokemon, catching them and then usual survival tree punching. boredom galore

If a person is still punching a tree after about level 8 they are doing something wrong

Capture the right Pals and everything becomes automated

But forspoken is not a bad game. it's just not. It's fully featured, finished new ip, with thought-out mechanics, story and so on. Music(same composer as gow ragnarok and imo he did better job in forspoken), graphics, everything is top notch. Sure, maybe the game is not hitting all 2023 sensibilities and is a bit oldschool? like a bit of infamous and crackdown. but if that was it's biggest fault, it would still be a success. It failed because of memes on twitter. It was dead on arrival after it's catastrophic marketing campaign.
You cannot say that about gollum of redfall. These are unfinished games, broken games and in case of gollum it's just lotr cash grab.

I was hyperbolizing. Punching, using axe, automating with pokemon.. same thing. been there, done that thousands of times.
again - it's just fine. What I've seen it's super boring and just stealing pokemon. you even catch them by throwing shit at them

Yeah.

I have played a lot of these games and I like to remind people I put in over 600 hours into ARK Survival Evolved and Palworld does do a lot of the same things but so far enjoying the twist of letting these creatures work for me

What in gods green earth is this? and why is it so popular? lol

Congrats? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Its a stupid fucking game that I deleted 5 minutes after starting it

Then I wanted to try something else so I tried it then wanted to try something else...

Almost 8 hours in now and restarting another character for a better base location

And these kinds of special idiots:

Pokemon knock-offs are "animals" now. This comes off as a rather transparent attempt to butt in on and become part of the rising tide of popularity this game has.

I wonder if Xbox is doing any marketing on this game and it being on GamePass. I haven't seen anything yet and am starting to think they want to be careful about it for a few reasons:

1, The obvious inspiration from Pokemon
2, The vocal minority starting to kick a fuss about themes of Slavery and 'Animal' abuse.

I can see their Marketing teams being hesitant to promote this game right now

All depends on your view of survival games like Valheim, Rust, Ark, etc. if you like those style of games, this is a very good game. If not, then this game isn't for you.
i could not disagree with this more. i actually hate those games, and this kind of game usually. but i've been playing this non-stop.

That's fine, but the base building/survival is a key part of this which is in those games mized with the killing of enemies for loot and crafting to beat harder enemies, like Valheim. I'm assuming it's predominantly the pet aspect that you enjoy about this vs Valheim?

I'm enjoying it so far. My daughter who plays Pokémon. However upon hearing that you can kill or butcher the pal's basically has no interest.

The only benefit is you get a 2nd item drop from the creature. It isn't an important part of the game and is 100% optional. You can just sell unwanted pals to a merchant or merge them into one Pal to make it stronger instead. The game does not force you to be cruel; it just gives you the option.

In real life there is nothing physically stopping anyone of us from being evil. We just have to make the choice to be kind.

Lot of hollow talking points. The Order checks most those boxes and it still sucked, because the game sucked. Much like Forspoken.

Looks like the kind of trash these young whippersnappers would play... I'm off to yell at the clouds as it's more entertaining then this game!

I have 20 hours played in single player so far. Still having fun. Has anyone tried multiplayer? How does it work, can you just join a random game?

BTW, even though steam doesn't say so, it works on linux steam with the "proton experimental" option selected in compatibility options. Not one crash yet.

It says Steam Deck Compatible, that usually implies that the Linux Steam users will be fine too
