The reason being is a new update that Palworld introduced, Feybreak, that Pocketpair showed off at The Game Awards, the highest-profile game showcase there is these days. It launched just before Christmas, but here on the first weekend after the holiday, there are 205,000 concurrent players and climbing, putting it at #8 on Steam for the first time in eons.

Feybreak is in fact the largest update we've seen from the game, with a new island six times the size of its last added island, plus new Pals, buildings, gear, abilities, boss fights and so on. There are 23 new Pals overall, if you're wanting to add to your collection. There are Predator Pals roaming the landscape, a randomized Pal mode for new spawns and a hardcore mode with permadeath for the first time.

Nintendo is probably gonna sue them because each letter of Feybreak was used by every pokemon name and thats constitutes on plagarism. Also 23 new pals equals when they say " X new pokemons", and thats a copy as well. Hardcore mode? Invented and abandoned by Gamefreak by the name of hard mode. Abilities? Term invented first by pokemon. Boss fights? Patented 2 seconds ago by Pokemon company so nobody can use them. How they can not create a single thing that isn't copied?

Blizzard cancelled their survival game because they didn't want to be the first company to make a trillion dollars.

Where the f*** is the AAA industry with this genre?

If they asset flip the WoW creatures, they could have done a great Survival Crafting game.

Good on them, man. No shade. It's a game that's not for me, but I'm glad that they gave people what they wanted and are getting rewarded for it.

I not gonna lie. I'm totally with you on this.

The genre is super popular and super fun.

Instead of Concord and Fairgame, Sony should have put those devs to work on a AAA survival game.

No Man's Sky and Subnautica are probably the closest to AAA but neither is real AAA in terms of production values.

That's cool, played it a little myself. Instead of new content, how about fixing the absolutely dogshit character creator.
