Revolutionary said:Okay, this game made me feel like a total RPG scrub when I was playing it on a flight earlier today. I could not find the key for the doors in the Central Park Zoo. WHERE THE FUCK IS IT
B.K. said:Yeah. It's a horrible Resident Evil clone. It's not worth playing.
Smh I really hate how precise you have to be with the interactions in this game. I swear I spammed X on every goddamn thing I could find.ULTROS! said:Check the drawer in the clinic.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind when I play the second so I don't get caught off guard by it. I do keep hearing that the battle system is better in 2 though which has me excited because I quite like the battle system in this one. I am just running around the central park zoo on day 2, grinding levels because of the battle system.ULTROS! said:I have to warn you though PE2 isn't much like PE1. Probably the first and second parts of PE2 are "similar" to PE1.

How does this control? is it a straight up RPG or is it something unique?

Diebuster said:Did you set the disc load speed to fast? That fixed it for me.
brianmcdoogle said:Should setting it to fast fix the problem? I ask because for me I get a several minute pause after the PS logo as well regardless of disc speed.

I'm really enjoying Parasite Eve, yeah the localisation is classic mid-90's, PS1 jrpg quality but the gameplay has held up fairly well, it's a real nice mash-up of turn-based and real-time mechanics. The contemporary setting really helps set Parasite Eve apart too, this game is over ten years old and it's still a relative rarity to see an rpg, be it from the east or west, that's set in the present day world.
it is kind of hard to see on my PSP 2000 though, I think I may bust out the component cables and hook my PSP up to my HDTV to play this.
TWEWY is present day. Can't think of any others.Adam Prime said:I think this looks way better on the PSP screen then it could possibly look on a HDTV screen blown up.
I agree the game play and mechanics of this game has really held the test of time. I wish more games employed this sort of battle system. Also agree about the setting. Aside from this... does Square have any present day settings.
You forgot Out of Phase. You've gotta add this.ULTROS! said:

When I try and start the game I will see the Playstation logo, but once that fades, the screen stays black forever. I can still hit the home button to bring up that menu for switching discs, changing screen size, etc. (so the PSP isn't frozen) but the game just never goes past the black screen.
FYI, I'm trying to play on a launch PSP-1000 with up to date OFW.
KoreanBarbecue said:I got this issue, too. Had to delete the game from my PSP Go and then re-download and install it. Still noticed that there's a bit of time between the PS logo and when the game actually starts.
Speaking of starts, I'm slowly realizing how impatient of a gamer I've become. Firing up PE,all i want to do is to get right into the action. But, instead I have to plod through text, run around, and plot through more text. I still love this game, but man, I'm getting impatient in my old age...

I'm on Day 5 and it asked me to switch to disc 2. So I select Disc 2 and the screen says "checking disc" and then tells me wrong disc. Then it just says "insert disc 2" again, but when I try and do the change disc option again, it is now grayed out and won't let me attempt to change the disc again. It also still says that I'm currently on disc 2 in the menu. So I'm pretty much stuck because of this and can't continue on. I have not had this problem with any other PS Classic games that require disc swapping.
Is anybody else having the same problem as me? If it matters, I'm on the 80gig PS3 from the MGS4 bundle.
It doesn't prompt you to save when it does the disc swap, so I couldn't just save and the boot up in disc 2. But after trying a couple more times, the game finally swapped to disc 2 properly and I was able to continue playing. So I'm not really sure why I was having problems... maybe my PS3 is just starting to tire out.Adam Prime said:Hmm haven't gotten there yet. Didn't the game let you save before disc change? I would start the game up new booting to Disc 2 and load your save.
Awesome news!ULTROS! said:Head's up: Parasite Eve 2 has been rated by ESRB so it might be coming soon.
