The convention center itself will be pretty warm, but it'll be cold/windy outside since its on the seaport.
 
So how does one sign up for tournaments?Boyfriend and I were thinking about doing the carcassonne tournaments.

Edit: its going to snow thursday-friday, weekend looks sunny and fine.

Where are you seeing this? Just checked weather.com and it's got a 30% chance of snow, expecting only flurries.

Not unusual to show already-released games at conventions. You've gotta remember, they're there to get you interested in buying their games / system. Not everyone at a convention has tried everything that's out.

But it was also a lot warmer than this both of the last two years, so I'm not sure how it'll all be this year. I'd certainly say bring layers--bring something heavy for the commutes to the hotel, something light potentially for the center or for small walks outside.

i think some of the tournaments are just "show up when it happens and you can do it"



was expecting that Nintendo line up since it was at that texas expo in the beginning of the month. i can finally play pikmin 3 :D *pushes everyone out of the way*
 
Quick question for those who have attended a previous PAX.
Should I bring a poster tube? Do vendors give out or sell posters at their booths?

This is my shit. I cannot wait to see what it is. I'm sure it's just an iOS game, and at worst an iOS app, but either way it's not a sequel or expansion and that is a huge thing coming from Blizzard. I also wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't simply a near-finished version of Blizzard All Stars (BAllS), which I'm also really looking forward to.

I pretty much equip myself to carry nothing huge. Posters? They are declined or find the garbage real quick. My haul from the end is nothing but garbage promo stuff for the most part, unless I have winnings from raffles/etc.

For PAX, the best bet is to travel relatively light. A backpack or a messenger bag, and nothing you have to hold in your arms. It's a shame it's going to be cold in the mornings or I'd go without a coat as well.

That's why I like having the hotel. I'll tough out the cold for a couple minutes.

For the unscrupulous, there's an additional entrance and lineup to the BCEC inside the hotel if you want to wait in the warm instead of outside in the cold. It's just above the Starbucks.

I usually just have my backpack with my 3DS+maybe its charger, an extra phone battery, and a bottle of water. Hopefully this year I don't do the stupid thing and buy things from Udon's booth

An acquaintance of mine from Toronto helps to man the Udon booth. It pays to pack light for PAX definitely.
 
I kind of wish we had just taken tomorrow off and gotten an extra hotel night instead of doing an overnight drive. Some of the pre-PAX Thursday night stuff sounds fun.

Oh well, next year.
 
Customer service came through, they said to print out their email response along with the confirmation email and they'd help me at the door.

All booked up and ready for my trip, haven't taken a vacation in forever. :)

PAX for the weekend, then driving up to Montreal, then taking the train to NYC. Gonna be an awesome week!
 
If anyone feels like trying out a demo of our retro platformer game, Unnamed Monkey Game, feel free to head over to the Ithic.com booth.
We won't be present at PAX ourselves unfortunally, but you should be able to play the game on a GCW Zero :)

Having a main meetup (dinner and possible drinks) saturday starting at 6:30 (Hero is in charge of that)

There is a meetup friday night that I'm handling. Drinking and possible dancing! I can pm you with my number or if you want, just pm me. I will probably post more info on it tonight on the meetup thread.

I'm also having lunch with Quadratic on thursday afternoon, I'll be in the city having a campus tour of massart, so afterwards we will have lunch and egg puffs!
 
If someone could stop by the Riot booth and pick up some swag for me i'll gladly throw you some monies. Mainly looking for skins/in game stuff, if someone can help me out pls shoot me a PM.

That Sega blog post is from last year. Now that I look at this year's exhibitor list, I don't think they're even going to be there at all.
 
Packing my stuff. God I travel with a lot of cameras.

Will be monitoring the thread for meetups; not sure if I'll be able to make it but I'll keep an eye out.
