Wow wtf... Test Drive: Ferrari Legend is 7.50$ on Gamersgate right now!

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-TDUFL/test-drive-ferrari-racing-legends

15eur here  . Bought! This game is awesome and amar was right (played it on my ps3 last week)

Anyone know what the DRM is? Is it running through Live? Atari? They don't really say.

What's crazy about the price is everyone was listing retail as 29.99 but Steam. Steam had that lousy 25 percent pre-order promotion on a list price of 39.99 (so 29.99). And now it's sitting at 39.99 with no holiday discount.

I'd totally hit that if it were the Steam version. Anyone wanna take the hit and report how bad the DRM is?

Steam version has GFWL too so you're just paying to have it in your steam library.

Yeah. I know. But I wanna know what the download client is. Live? Atari. Gamergate? With Steam I can download 100 times if I want. I'd like to know what my limitations are before buying.

That one reviewer there really ripped it a new one. "Some assists can't be disabled"? If you can't disable it, why's it listed? Is it because they botched the port? If so, it'll never be patched and fixed.

I certainly don't get the same impression, why do you think it's much better?

bought the mclaren and it's superb, can see this car being very popular indeed, it does feel much more planted as has been said on the forums, looking forward to the update being rolled out for all cars at the end of january

I found the iRacing version to be just about uncatchable in an oversteer moment. Lift off oversteer especially. You cannot lift off at all bit corner, even at low speeds (30mph), which quite frankly is unrealistic. The Skip Barber is a touchy car IRL. So I am not saying it should handle like a Formula car with a big wing, I just expect it to be reasonably predictable.

In rF2 it will still punish you if you lift off mid corner, but you can correct it because you can feel the rotation of the car more naturally. In addition once the car is in a slide, even a power induced one, you can still catch it.

I do feel like the iRacing version brakes more naturally without ABS when compared to rF2.

I want to try the McLaren to see if iRacing has finally remedied their on ice feeling that has kept me away from it for so long.

Which assist would that be? ABS is pretty much the only one I can think of (breaking in this game is VERY easy, you can keep braking even at turn-in most of the time but you'll still be faster if you do it properly)

GamersGate is pretty solid from what I've used it and I'm 99% there's no "limit" to downloading the game.

Here's what they say in the FAQ:
"How many times can I download and/or install my games?"
"Any game bought on GamersGate is yours to download and install as many times you like. Some games are protected with an activation limit, but that limit is easily reset with an email to support@gamersgate.com"

Not sure. Just a little worried by the hater's bulletin board of complaints: - can't turn off all driving assists, same ugly HUD for all eras .

It's possible he's just incompetent and missed something. But for something that's obviously got some bugs, and isn't going to get any patches, it does concern me a bit.

I'm very interested in TD: FRL but the fact that few people outside of the pCARS forum have raved about it, Atari are the publisher and I've been stung twice with their shoddy QA and lack of post release patches (Race Pro and TDU 2) and the GFWL implementation means I'm very much sitting on the fence.

$7.50 is a great price for a new game though!

My thoughts exactly.

Also, what in the hell are you doing awake at <6AM?!?

It's a fantastic game, but I'm not sure how it would play with a wheel even if it'd support one properly; it requires pretty fast lock-to-lock steering and I don't know if a FFB wheel is fast enough to be as good as pad, the Momo sure as hell isn't.
Yeah, I was just thinking more "PGR" first and "G27" second. Those two aren't exactly super-easy to combine, so it might be a thing of mutual exclusivity. Having said that though, I've combined arcadier games with the G27 and come off fine... just look at Daytona using the Model 2 emulator ;)

I think the problem with Driver:SF and the steering wheel is more about how will control the shifts with the steering wheel? You need a stick or a d-pad to move around when you want to shift between cars. I guess it's possible with the buttons but really not ideal.

Other than that, everybody should be playing that game, it's fucking amazing.

I'll add that I loved Driver: SF too. The end mission was rather shite but the rest of the game was brilliant fun and well worth the $7.50 I paid. Plus you can poweslide every car like a mentalist in Driver: SF which adds to the cool factor.

The bonus missions ripped from many film and TV show are worth the price of admission too. Who doesn't want to drive a green Mustang GT that is exactly like Steve McQueen's Mustang GT from Bullitt? Put simply, only a philistine would refuse to buy Driver: SF

You caught the They Live! reference at the start as well, didn't you?

So yeah, the main point is: it's a game you should buy, but not necessarily to play with a wheel.

Yes I did 8) Great film with lots of highly quotable lines. In their 2012 version of Syndicate, Starbreeze pretty much ripped off John Carpenter too with the use of subliminal messages hidden everywhere in adverts and corporate logos.

Just got GTR2 (LTTP) on Steam for about $4USD.

Downloaded P&G 3 immediately. Painless and automated installation.

Just blasted around in a GT40 in the rain at night at Monza in practice mode.

Is P&G a "series" where I should download each version, or do I just need v3.0?
Veriosn 3 is all you need. The guy largely responsible for the physics in P&G has been working as an employee of Kunos on Assetto Corsa for months. He's posted some interesting details on Race Department too.

Caved today and picked up the RaceMeterPro for the Simbin games too. I've been racing without the apps lately and forgot how much I like them. At least it works for everything from GTR2 to Race Departement 2 (including, obviously, P&G).

DashMeterPro? Does it also work for GSC?

Edit: Damn, nevermind... I thought that was the iOS one :(

Did F1 2012 ever get fixed on PC? I remember the game having patches every other day for a while but haven't heard anything in a while.

I want to play a racing game with a proper career (all the other rf/GSC/pCars/etc are great games but I don't care for multiplayer and getting tired of doing time trials...).

Ugh, same. I'm not sure on F1 2012... they released something like 10 patches in the first month and I think 12 in total, but there were things that are still broken in it (like having a fucking horrid driving model compared to 2011).

Some issues that are yet to be fixed:

This is a good one. To fix a bug where you could damage your gearbox, Codies seemed to make the gearboxes indestructable:
http://community.codemasters.com/t5...ance/Gearboxes-Unbreakable/m-p/138378#U138378

Almost all of that stuff is to do with things that would easily be fixed, some even known since the game game out (such as the 0% weather/parc ferme bug). I'm yet to fire it up, but for a new game with a somewhat decent career WRC3 could be the way to go. Sure as shit though, there's no fucking way I'm buying F1 2013. Not even at bargain bin prices, their support and QA (and design decisions) are a complete joke. Probably did themselves out of sales for their upcoming games under the Codemasters Racing banner (like GRID 2) as well.

Yeah I could maybe try WRC3 (or even start a new Dirt 2 career).

Man, I miss the old TOCA games. The story was cheesy and corny but still...it was something.

Oh, you missed my edit. I added a few more in there ;)

Dirt 2 had probably one of my favourite career modes as far as progression went. It was far from a sim and far from perfect, but it looked incredible and played really well. Wasn't a fan of some of the "alternative" rallying things (with the trucks etc) but for the most part, it was enjoyable.

It's a shame that everything available at the moment is pretty much a beta or PAYG-type thing (like iRacing). I'd kill to have a sim (or even quasi-sim) title that just has everything included, even if it's just a shitty, basic career mode with a table at the end of a season. Keeping up with mods/patches is tiring :/

Actually, Ferrari Racing Legends might be something to fill the gap...
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-TDUFL/test-drive-ferrari-racing-legends

Gamersgate have it (above) for $7.50. Apparently PC support is literally non-existent so any bugs you come across you'd have to manage yourself, but there may be a career mode in there which could keep you satisfied a little while longer. I can't recall who it was (sorry!) but someone in this thread spoke fairly highly of it for the PS3.

I'm tempted to grab it myself, but as good value as it may be for $7.50, there's nothing more frustrating than buying a game and coming across a bug that's not patched or fixable by yourself.

Yeha I actually tried it earlier today. It's a competent game and there seems to be a lot of stuff to do in the career but I find all those old cars boring lol. Still, it's probably the most promising of the bunch right now.

Also, while the game is running fine it is on the short side as far as options goes. You can't manuel set driving aids (just 3-4 presets), not a lot of graphical options and even if there is a Fanatec profile in the setup, it's for the 911 Turbo and I'm using a CSR. It still works but I can't say it's really a great FFB.

I find the old cars incredibly fun to drive, especially on the more narrow tracks. Amar was totally right in praising this game, I love it.

NFS: Shift with overhaul mod or the unofficial community mod plus the polish tyre mod and/or NFS: Unleashed with the unofficial community mod plus the latest PTMu tyre mod from NoGrip could offer a solution. The only downsides are you'll need to unpack both games using tools supplied from NoGrip and you'll be racing around the same tracks SMS have in all their games.

Yeah Shift is a good idea but I've already played through it a couple of times. Mostly Shift 2 which was an amazing game IMO (with the proper physics mod and a good steering wheel). It's still the game with the best track selection out there and I don't think anything will beat it until pCARS is officially out.

Plus it's the only modern racing game with the official GT1 and GT3 licence so was an instant buy for me. The NoGrip mods make both games so much better and help turn them into more sim like experiences. Such as shame you've already finished both as there is little else out there right now to play with a career mode.

Installed it a while ago, but haven't tried it in P&G yet.

DMP is overpriced (for the app world), but I've crumbled and bought the iracing, Simbin, and rfactor apps.

I could have sworn these apps were all cheaper months ago, but when he realized they weren't selling as well as he hoped, he raised the price a bit. That's why I just bit the bullet. Figured if I waited longer, they'd be 10 bucks a pop :lol.

Thankfully Assetta Corsa has this built in natively, so that should be the last time I have to purchase one of his apps.

Does anyone here have RACE Injection? I just saw it's on sale during the Steam winter sale, but I can't find too many impressions. I already own RACE07+GTR Evo+whatever stuff came out back in 2008 or so but I'm not sure if the Pagani and the other cars this has would be worth it.

I guess if you really want the expansion packs. You seem to already own most of the base, though. Do you really want those cars? I certainly wouldn't do it for the Retro pack that's included. If you want retro cars, buy GTR 2 for 3.60 and install Power and Glory 3.

Reiza Studios have announced the pre-order price for Game Formula Truck is $24.90 USD

banner_soon.jpg

"Forumula Truck features the trucks that competed in the 2012 season and all 10 race tracks in the calendar. The game is being developed under Reiza´s uncompromising approach towards accurate simulation, in order to recreate as realistically as possible the experience of racing aboard the 5-ton, 1200 HP turbocharged super-trucks which compete in the series".

Planned release is said to be 'late January 2013'.

Official Website and YouTube trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVeiTyW_-8c

If Game Stock Car is any guide, Formula Truck will be sensational.

I'm sure Reiza will have the Senna info when the game is closer to release and given the developer, it will be worth the wait.

I'm trying SimRaceway for the first time and it looks like most other ISI based games; slightly old but fine for the most part. Not taxing on the hardware means one can crank the anti-aliasing up to make the experience smooth and jaggie free 8) Physics seem good aside from the Evo; BMW M coupe is a lot of fun and the F3 feels good but is marred by ugly cockpit texutres. The tracks all feel a little smooth compared to other sims I own; I hope the dev team add a few bumps to the tracks over time. I'm impressed by the generous demo - download the client and let it update the base tracks to around 20 with 3 free cars! I wish more games did this. The car cost ranges from very fair with many cars under $1USD to extremely mental pricing with the higher end cars around the $30 to $35 USD mark!! Some of the lower car bundles are very well priced but the McLaren cars pack is $95 for 11 cars which is an insane price unless you are a McLaren nut (and he was sadly banned).

I've had a few glitches such as racing around Sonoma in the BMW at 4am and the headlights weren't working on some corners, track lengths all seem to out of wack in loading screens and a few track downloads are completing with error messages yet have installed fine. Overall for the short time I've played Simraceway it seems rather solid experience. Not sure how much the real world drivers are helping hone the physics engine and tyre model but the physics feel fine to me and I'm yet to have a 'I'm racing on ice' feeling or 'WTF just happened?' moment. It appears the user base is quite small compared to the 500,000+ likes the sim has on FB but I'm sure it'll grow over time and another option for sim racers is always welcome.

Although the old ISI based sims still look okay, I'd love to see the various development teams get their hands on the isiMotor 2.5 in the near future.

So F1 2012 is a daily on Steam today and I've been eager to play an F1 game after recently getting in to the sport. I enjoyed the demo, but I've read an awful lot about the issues the game still has after all the patches. I guess it's still a fairly new game, but what are people's opinions on biting at the 50% discount? Thanks.

I've heard it's pretty bad compared to 2011.

Do you have a PS3? If so, get F1CE. My personal favorite modern F1 game.

The short answer is no. The only reasons you'd buy F1 2012 is (a) F1 2011 isn't available or (b) you enjoy playing borked games that aren't supported by the developer just 6 months after release.

Buy Reiza Studios Game Stock Car 2012, download a few of the 'illegal' track mods via the link this thread. Select either the Formula Reiza (2011/12 F1 car) or the Formula Classic (F1 car from the V6 turbo era) and enjoy a sublime sim racing experience.
