PCs are better than consoles argument tree

Sure it is, but as much as I prefer it, some people have other preferences. Maybe there's this game series they like and isn't on that platform. Maybe they have their friends their. Maybe they have a tight budget. Maybe they just don't want.

It's not only about what is better or not, it's also down to each own preferences/standards. As for arguments, there's nothing stronger than personnal preferences.

Arguments that consoles run better than PC are invalid, but it's very understandable why the regular consumer would get a console, mainly for the fact that social play, streaming applications, and games are in one central location (muhhh comfy couch gaming). I love my gaming PC but none of my friends play on PC which can be a little disheartening. There's also exclusives but I don't think any series justifies a 350+ purchase.

This is the only argument about it that needs to happen:

I'm a big proponent of "whynotboth.png" on this stuff.

I love games, and some games are only available on one system. Skipping any system, be it a console, handheld, or a high-end PC, means missing out on at least a few games a year that I want to play.

Personally, I buy or build a high-end PC maybe twice a decade, and that usually keeps me covered for PC exclusives and good console ports, and then consoles/handhelds for their exclusive titles.

Right now though, I'm at the tail end of my PC being relevant, so all multi-platform games get played on my PS4, which is handy since I'll actually play them instead of getting distracted by other shit on my PC.

I'm saying this about both consoles at the moment. Oh, you have Bloodborne but it runs like shit? What else? Oh... I'll get the PS5 remastered version.

That's great.

Biggest advantage for me is that it's an open platform. There are a variety of retailers competing to offer the best price/service, and they're not all just essentially distributors/vendors for one platform holder. No one needs permission from anyone to make/sell a PC game, which is why it is the home of the most wierdo leftfield stuff.

Beyond that it's the best platform for stuff like mods, hacks, emulation and other stuff that whilst consoles would be technically capable of, they are typically locked down to prevent.

I do like consoles too, and they have a bunch of advantages. It's great that we all have the ability to chose whichever platforms we prefer. I will always buy the box that lets me play Nintendo games.

I am trying not to put my bias into this thread as much as trying to get more responses and bolster the tree i linked too. Ultimately it is all preference, but i find the full argument layout fascinating, the other stuff on website is cool.

Handhelds slighted yet again.

Handhelds are dead breh.

30fps with framepacing issues would drive me mental. I really do want to play Bloodborne, but even though I've a chance to play it now (I can just borrow my brothers system and buy the game), I'll be waiting for a remaster.

Well, alright. I don't remember the framerate being much of an issue but I guess I'm not sensitive to it.

mmm mmm, ain't readin that shit
both sides of these kinds of arguments are wrong, they're different devices and not meant for the same shit

Why is it presented like a tree? It's literally just a message board argument in a more confusing, harder-to-follow format. Complete and total blindness as to what the other person is saying on both sides.

i have no interest in gaming pc.
its just useless for me i like to play fifa, mortal kombat with my friends... in b4 you can do on pc. its not the same at all

I would add an option for "I like both" or "I have no preference" "Cool"

And then it would be perfect :)

Agreed.

I really, really don't see why people bother. I love sitting in my couch with a few buddies playing FIFA, Forza or any other game.

But I also love sitting at my PC playing Diablo, Starcraft and whatever else I fancy.

For local multiplayer it's obvious console > PC
For online.. eh it's the same shit nowadays, you have the same tools

They're meant for games and a lot of other stuff, but not in the same way than consoles

Just means the PC market is underserved in those areas you're on about, because technically, there's nothing to stop the PC doing everything any console can.

Wii U still the GOAT though.

Coming from a PC bakground, I enjoy having both PS4 (and PS3, but now the kids are using it) and a big gaming laptop.

I built a gaming PC over six months ago and have done very little gaming on it. I played more on my PS4 in the six months that I had it. I'm not entirely sure what prevents me from wanting to boot up a game on my PC, but I didn't really have this issue with consoles. Of course I had dry spells every now and then where I wouldn't play games for several months at a time, but this is a new phenomenon that I'm experiencing. I want to play some PC games but I have no desire to do it on PC.

I can hypothesize that one issue is not feeling as connected with users in a game on a PC as I do on a console. It's funny because I always took friend notifications and things like that for granted and never really cared for it when I had a PS3 and PS4, but now I feel ever so isolated on PC and it isn't fun. I thought maxing out Alien Isolation would have felt better than it does. Ugh

Many games tend to be superior on a PC but at a non-monetary cost. That cost is enough for some people to look for a more catering option. Consoles tend to fill that role well. No one here is wrong.
