PDZERO PROVEN TO CAUSE CANCER! DETAILS INSIDE!

I thought a PC version of Condemned is planned too.

Where is it?

I want it.

If PD0 sucks interest in Xbox 360 significantly decreases for me. I can get all the "killa" 360 games on my PC and Madden alone won't justify me spending 500 dolla dolla bills yall.

well to be fair a few of their PDZ complaints are due to them expecting it to be halo. But still they make it seem pretty shitty :(

gonna wait for some reviews to come in.

I'm glad I'm not gonna have to buy an Xbox 360 at launch because the two main games that I really want which are featured for the console at launch are also available on the PC. Those titles are of course Condemned and Oblivion.

alright i just finished listening to the whole round table.

Summary for those who dont want to download:

The 4 guys were all impressed by the x360.

The 4 guys thought Kameo and CoD2 were the best games , with Kameo having a real "nintendo/Zelda" feel.

Condemned and NFS:MW were the 2 big surprises there because both were very impressive. King Kong has potential to be huge.

PGR3 was decent but does not look up to par with the screens and does not seem to be any different gameplay wise when compared with PGR2.

Doa4 felt like just a modest upgrade from current gen.

All 4 agreed PDZ was the biggest dissapointment on the show at pretty much the worst game there. It has ALOT of potential but feels completely buggy and unpolished. Some of their more REasonable complaints were that the game was really short, Multiplayer was boring, MP levels were too big, and if you die you have to start the level over again.

Did someone tell them how long the game was going to be because I seriously doubt Microsoft had the full single-player game available to play through?

Hopefully MS will take notes from these presentations and put PDZ back under the knife.

I know its a bitter pill to swallow, not having a MGS FPS at launch, but for the good of the world, delay.

Cant wait to play Kameo. :)

That's funny because there wasn't anything wrong with the "gameplay" in PGR2. I just hope they haven't screwed around with the reward system too much in PGR3.

IMO of course

yea apparently they went through a mission in 5 minutes or something. Sure all the other missions might be huge so who knows?

Their lack of jump button complaint is just reatarded tho. PDZ IS NOT HALO!

I find it interesting that a lot of people constantly complain about the lack of jumping in PDZ. It really makes me feel like the GoldenEye and Perfect Dark games have been completely forgotten. Seems like the last 5 years of FPS games has completely made people forget about how the N64 FPS games even played. It's really weird that they complain repeatedly that Rare "removed" jumping when Rare FPS games have never had jumping. I think adding jumping fundamentally changes the gameplay and fundamentally changes the maps.

" Seems like the last 5 years of FPS games has completely made people forget about how the N64 FPS games even played. "

well. FPS have evolved since then.. it has been 5 years you know.

My big problem is I have no idea how much of the game they played to form these impressions. The positive articles from IGN and 1up were based on playing through several levels.

For example, the dying in a level comment. In his impressions of PDZ,the guy from Evil Avatar said that when you die in a co-op level you have to start from the beginning. I believe this applies to the Joanna"sniping from the roof" while father Jack is down below(which is the co-op level he got to play). The other previews clearly state that when co-op players are in the same area, one can heal the other when they're killed.

Maybe that's the problem with PDZ? It probably plays too much like the original... or maybe it just sucks. =/

That's totally different. The jump is not some critical evolution. Not including the jump is not a regression.
The Halo folks I know CANNOT stand an FPS without a jump, so in that it is a regression.

Its called room for improvment. What does it matter if the past game didnt have that feature. Hell, some people still want a jumping in zelda games :p

Truely the most rollercoaster like game PEROID

Its more rollercoaster like then Rollercoaster Tycoon!

I think not having jump makes for a different gameplay experience, not necessarily better or worse. It's almost like saying a car racing game without car tuning has not evolved.

If PDZ sucks I don't think it's because of the lack of jump. I think you can still make a great FPS without having people hopping all over the map.

WTF was up with their PGR3 impressions???

IMO, PGR3 is as impressive as GOW in many ways.....and yet they preferred Need4Speed:Most Wanted, which doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as PGR3???

They were saying the grfx in PGR3 doesn't match the screenshots??

WTF

PGR3 has some of the best graphics I have EVER seen in a racing game (2nd only to the new Vision GT footage) and perhaps of any game....

If PDZ sucks it's because it's made by Rare and they need 10 years to get their games right.

How many FPS' do you see with arrows to guide the player? They're just a crutch to hide weak mission goals and game progression.

You really don't know what you're talking about....I know, how shocking...

The arrows only exist on the EASY setting. It is on this setting that EVERY single impression is based on and there is where people have mixed impressions...surprise!

If I had played Halo on easy, I would have thought it to be the biggest piece of shit ever.

I think I read in the description to one of Blims videos that the version playable at X05 had the effects turned off.

Wow they really loved and hyped Kameo in that podcast. They said it's as important of a launch game as Mario 64 was for the N64. Then they compared it to Zelda. They said if Kameo was coming out on a Nintendo console everybody would be talking about it. They think Kameo is going to sell really well for a long time and that it will have more general audience appeal than even Halo had. I really didn't expect these guys to be that impressed by Kameo. I figured they would be a little more dismissive of Kameo because of the cartoon/fantasy visuals.

you can stop the rollercoaster if you simply accept that this game will be a let down. it's hard, but probably reasonable to do so.

I completely disagree. Nothing breaks the sense of immersion that not being able to pass a waist-high barrier because you're character can't even jump. Not being able to jump is a shitty design choice for any first-person based game.

Here's a novel idea. Rent the game rather than buy it on launch day. Then, if the previews are accurate, you will have only wasted the money on a rental. Orrrrrrrrrrr, you could just ignore it outright and go on living. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, you could buy it because you want to give RARE the benefit of the doubt. All of these are viable options. However, insensitively using a topic such as Cancer or AIDS to make a teaser post - fucking moronic.

Seems to me that jumping around during a gunfight would leave you to be a wide open target to get shot. So not having a jump button is no big loss for me.

Y2Kevbug11 said:
That's not a jump. It's more of a climb. You want to talk about breaking the sense of immersion, why don't you play Halo 2 and get into a bunny hop fight? There is no jumping when anyone has a gun. That's immersion.

Being that none of us have played a finished build of the game, don't you think we should wait on this aspect before determining that the auto-climb function is not acceptable?

To each his own. From my experience playing timesplitters (as a recent example), the lack of jump is a shitty design choice, and it really hampers gameplay. I doubt it will be any different in PDZero.

What's the deal with Condemned. I didn't even know this game existed before last week, now suddenly it's a kicking rad launch game?

I hate ppl jumping all over in halo matches its fucking ridiculous at times. i Prefer Goldeneye or Rainbow 6 style fps games.

Regarding PGR3 you have to take their comments with grain of salt cause the dont seem to be into the Sim or semi sim style racers. I also enjoy games like burnout and MC3 more than games like forza, GT, or PGR3. I dont think anyone said that NFS looked better than PGR3 they said it was more fun.

That was awesome.

X360 sounds like a beast. Nice that you can see the battery level via the Dash for wireless controllers.

This is what I'm doing. I was initially very interested, but the rollercoaster has turned me off almost completely. I'm still willing to give it a shot though; maybe rent-to-buy if multiplayer is really good.
