Games you just like to wandering around cause the beautiful landscapes?

Fallout 76, while not prettiest game it does feel more livelier with other players going about their business, visiting my camps purchasing stuff, building camps, killing nearby enemies, doing their own dailies.

I don't really wonder aimlessly inside games to look at the locations tbh.

I can admire the scenery while i'm exploring or reach a place but that's it.

Yeah I put 100 hours into FC4. It is my most played entry. I never liked 3 somehow but 4 clicked and I really enjoyed the vistas.
same here
the fourth chapter still looks gorgeous, i like very much just moving from ie near a lake location to the peak of a rocky mountain, all those landscape changes in a relative short time are a pleasure for the eyes

For real world European medieval vibes, nothing better than KCD and KCD2

In the current crop, I'm enjoying horseback riding or driving through 1904 Sicily in Mafia: The Old Country. The landscapes are beautiful. The artists took pains to render the buildings and cities authentically. I enjoy just looking at the world.

Surely AC Unity and Witcher 3 were those games for me when I realized I'm also soaking in the atmosphere beyond going from A to B. Happens from time to time but nothing really comes close, maybe Elden Ring did, which also proves top graphics doesn't matter when the art design is perfect.

Definately Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Sea of thieves

neither a technical marvel - but just beutiful environments

AC Unity. Its not a good game but its a really cool walk through history.

Spent a lot of time just driving around Liberty City listening to the radio in GTA IV as well. Savage atmosphere

Love seeing success stories like this.

OT RDR2 is still one of the best visuals on the market with most alive feeling world hands down.

  • Breath of the Wild
  • Skyrim
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey
  • Xenoblade Chronicles
  • Shadow of the Colossus
  • RDR2
  • Elden Ring

You'll laugh but Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze. It's played on a 2D plane but Retro's talent built some really cool 3D worlds in each stage.

So often I would find myself admiring the background layout of the land, canopies, caves, etc. Like wow I wish I could explore this land in 3D or real life.

Most Assassin's Creed games. I've never enjoyed the gameplay that much to be honest, but I think Ubisoft have always succeeded with the environments. Valhalla was especially beautiful.

And back in the day, obviously, Shenmue.

going back in time, where we didn't have video previews and only a few video game magazines with some screenshots... the journey through the landscapes of video games began on the shop-home route with the screenshots on the back of the cartridge box

Don't judge me, but.. I do this a lot on Fallout 76 and DayZ.
I know I know, but personally I love the Fallout 76 world and Dayz I just find really relaxing to just "hike" on.

Jesus Christ, just go visit nature irl.
If nature was as easily accessible as video games, we would all do it

As someone who's been to a lot of nature irl, I can tell you that it's not super convenient most of the time. You have to ride a plane a long ways, ride a car a long ways, ride a bike a long ways, and sometimes (often) walk a long ways

Whereas in a video game you can just load in and there you are

Some Assassin's Creed games (special place for Origins and Odyssey).
RDR2.

And now that I've got the build, I'm playing CP77 in VR, really taking my time. The scale, the feeling of being "inside" the game — it's on another level. I'd love to experience Origins the same way.
