Games you just like to wandering around cause the beautiful landscapes?

I enjoyed walking around the environments of Horizon Zero Dawn. It was one of my favorite parts of that game - the beautiful landscapes.

Skyrim gave me that sense, too. And Morrowind, too, many years ago - I remember staring at the night sky and the moons.

I love getting lost in DayZ, walking through fields, countryside roads, forest and little villages. Nature sound is also great in this game. I don't know what it is, being on your own, trying to survive, finding supplies and gear, knowing I could die any second and end up back on the beach, it always felt special to me.

Lot of them are open world, but some are not:
Final fantasy XVI, FFXV, Xenoblades all of them are beautiful, TOTK & BOTW, Dragons Dogma 1 -2, Yakuza series, GTA 5 with mod of course where I often use walking radio, literally walk or driving slowly.
Other than that, Wildlands by driving along and listening radios, Far cry 5 with the fishing spots, Witcher 3 do lot of walk with roach and seeing lot of vistas

Beautiful landscapes is one of the reasons why I love Alan Wake 1 so much. I always take my time advancing through levels, especially during daytime sections when there's no rush to escape from the taken. Elderwood National Park is probably my favorite one with the cabins and Lover's Peak path, but there's a bunch of them to choose from, including Bright Falls obviously.

I'm playing Watch Dogs 2 right now and am appreciating the detail in San Francisco. I've walked around more in this game than most others to visit famous landmarks and street art. It's also nice to be able to (safely) visit Oakland.

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Just Cause 2 (dated, but it's the best world of the series).
No Man's sky.
Metro series (any game, really).
Tomb Raider / Uncharted (even though it's linear).

And...Mirror's Edge (the first one). Still breathtaking.

Most recent must be Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Be it a little village, a city or just the middle of the woods, it's a joy walking around in that game.

Most Zelda games I think. TotK in particular is just such a cool version of Hyrule. Jumping down from the sky islands you can land on a dragon, enjoy the view, and suddenly that same dragon will ride you into the depths.

One time I jumped down and a star fragment just fell right next to me and I was able to grab it as I was going down.

Just writing about it now makes me want to jump back in.

It's simple but there is something magical about Ocarina of Time's overworld. I love riding through it with Epona and watch the sun rise and set. It's awesome.

It may have something to do with nostalgia though. IDC..

Lies of P. I love krat and the snow covered areas in Overture. Also Mario and Zelda games have a charm for me about their world/sandbox. Elden Ring.

Games like Skyrim, the recent Oblivion remaster really scratched this itch.
Said it before, Oblivion took me a year to complete, just chilled out after work hunting deer.

Skyrim I don't fast travel, exploring is fun and if anybody gives me shit I will Kobe their village.

...And...Mirror's Edge (the first one). Still breathtaking.
oh yes, i like to run this every now and then for the same reason;
particular style, not much details but extra clean and bright, powerful main colors use

Far Cry 4 is another title i have completed but i still launch to just wandering around

and Star Fox Adventures :)

I'll go with GTA 4 on PC + some mods that fixes most of it's issues.

The GTA 4 city is still the most lively and realistic i have seen in a game. It beats GTA 5 in this aspect IMO and every other open world. Though i still haven't played RDR2.

Go outside.
As nice as it is that people enjoy this stuff in games, I just can't relate to any of it.

Real life stuff is great. I love a nice countryside view. I can just sit and watch a fire. But in games? Not interested. Couldn't care less. The only thing that comes remotely close is Elden Ring when you first get to Liurnia and see this view. But that's more the use of colour and the map design showing you places you know you will visit at some point rather than how pretty the landscape is.

Easily TOTK, I don't know why but the density of activities and art style reminds me of a huge playground and it's all just so much fun.
That game puts a permanent smile on my face when I play it and no other game does that.

Nothing beats Cyberpunk for me

The setting is so unique and the way the city is designed is just incredible for riding your bike around.

Assasins Creed Shadows is a recent one that also scratches that itch

I prefer more cartoony over photrealistic. there are games i go play as i love been inside just enjoying the scenery and sound design.

The Witness while i don't enjoy the puzzles that much but the entire island totally makes up for it with it's beautiful themed areas and stange sounds as well as the cozyness it exudes.

Same with botany manor as it has same cozy lighting as the witness does however the game realises how pretty it is as it gives you many places to sit down & just soak in the scenery

Superliminal is another, some people find liminal spaces unsettling where i just find them comforting the amount of hours i have spent in this game just hanging out is probably verging on unhealthy lol.

Natsumon is one where i don't just "play" the game i go into the game to just play around the sounds of summer when your deep in the wilderness is so nice.

The GOAT of these games is bokunatsu 4 i could spend the rest of my life living somewhere like that.

Doesn't even have to be remotely realistic the world of manifold garden is jawdropping with it's recursive scenery. It's these kinds of games and the ones above i seek out.

There aren't that many video games with memorable worlds
Final Fantasy XI
Red Dead Redemption
Burnout Paradise
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Phantasy Star Online Series
Bloodborne
Dragon Dogma 1
Mafia 2
Bio Shock 2
Nier series
some parts of The Elder Scrolls Online
