The critically-acclaimed DCU continues with Season 2 of Peacemaker. Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands.
New episodes every Thursday at 9pm Eastern

New intro dance sequence featuring Foxy Shazam's Oh Lord:

DC has also produced an official Peacemaker podcast where James Gunn himself dives deep into each episode with special guests from the show.
Season 2 Episode 1 podcast features Frank Grillo and Sol Rodriguez:

Lastly, please have the courtesy to mark your spoilers because this season is certain to be a doozy with twists and turns.

This is a weekly drip, right? If so, its on you if you go into a thread a week or 2 behind.

I've tried to avoid much about this show, wanna be surprised at every twist.

Everytime one of these shows comes back I'm thinking 'I know I watched this but what the fuck happened in the last season'

Loved the first season.

But man the multiverse stuff, just fucking why? Does this need to happen in superhero stuff? Or is it because most of the audience are such pansy-ass pussy's that they can't deal with their media having the same realistic weight and repurcussions as real life. It's just laughably bad writing and such a cop out to do repeatedly like this

The new intro doesn't hit quite as hard as the first one does initially, but it's a damn good song and has really grown on me in the past 24 hours.

Why are some people acting like this is Multiverse of Madness? As far as we can tell from the one available episode and trailers, it seems to only deal with a singular parallel dimension and is more of a personal journey for Chris rather than a multiverse-hopping extravaganza.

"It's not really a multiverse," Gunn explained. "It's really one other dimension that is parallel to our own world — and it's much more contemplative. I love 'Deadpool & Wolverine' and seeing all those billions of Deadpools and all the different permutations, and that's a very fun thing. But that's not what this is. This is more literary. It's more like Philip Roth's 'The Counterlife' than it is like 'Deadpool & Wolverine.'"

He finished: "It's about one other dimension, where Peacemaker is confronted with the possibility of things he never had. He's staring the loss of things he never had straight in the face, and seeing a life that other people have. That is common to many of us, what he was robbed of in this universe and existentially trying to come to grips with that and what he's going to do about it."

That's a major problem with the current era of TV/streaming shows as a whole IMO: too much time in between seasons. Started up Season 2 of Severance and was so lost because I couldn't remember many details from the first season, so I just stopped watching for now.

As for Peacemaker, DC Studios had the foresight to make a podcast for rewatching the first season so that was a fun incentive to rewatch and recap the show.

I understand what you're saying but it doesn't matter how many universes there are.

The fact there's even just one simply gets rid of any sort of weight behind characters their motivation, decisions, demise and what is at stake.

There are thousands of ways to write a personal journey of sorts without having to whip out an entire alternate reality for it (again).

Remember that one good character that died? People really liked him so here he is, alive and well again. That one cool villain? He's a good guy now. Second chances? Here's 10. It's reaching fan fiction levels of unhealthy coping at this point. It's simply poor and lazy writing in a show that otherwise has great potential.

Yeah, there are CLEARLY numerous multi-verse doors in that pocket dimension, so the only limitation is what the writers can exercise. Gunn is gonna stick in as many cameos as he can get to show up.

Though the 1 scene of the guys chilling in the lounge, that was nice. If it limits itself to just that scene, I'll allow it.

That was such a weird episode, first the retcon in the "previously on", who you trying to gaslight bruv? Then peacemaker's dad has a better pocket dimension than lex for some reason, random orgy, gunn's wife getting her ass beat like
BXU9OfH.jpeg

parallel universe shenanigans, the end.

Don't really like the new intro song either

Enjoyed the first episode. John Cena's acting got better, he was fine before, but looks like he studied a bit since S1. Adding facial acting to his skillset.
Wish the Justice Gang was more of a cameo. Cause Guy and Peacemaker in the same scene both chewing the scene and lines makes for good watching. Loved Maxwell Lord.

I'm not tired of multi-verses like some people, I'm fine with them as long as the characters are written well and entertaining.
The only thing I didn't really like was the random orgy scene. Like does Peacemaker even know that many people to call up for a random orgy at his house? He barely has any friends.

Intro is rubbish. The orgy wasn't completely out of place after the season 1 threesome but it lingered on it for too long. Why focus on a dancing guy who has an unremarkable cock? Not seen Superman but the Justice Gang seem like dickheads not heroes. Also why introduce a new dimension for him to immediately fuck it up? Just misery porn for most in this episode. I really liked season 1 but this wasn't a banger like the first episode of the first season

Literally none of what you listed is going to be in this season and the multiverse is ONLY in this season. It's not DCU wide. Did you even see the ending of the first episode?

What do you man? After seeing that guy I feel like a giant!

It's nice to not feel small for a change.....allegedly :P

You've seen it all?

and the multiverse is ONLY in this season.
But you just said none of what I said is going to ...

My friend. We're discussing a superhero show with an incredibly overdone and lazy trope. It's not that deep. If you love multiverse stuff, more power to you. I bet there's plenty of kids who like it too!

I haven't seen it all but I can see the trajectory of the story from what we've seen so far in this episode and trailers. It's not replacing anyone from the prime universe. No villain is getting some weird type of redemption from a parallel earth in the prime one. If anything, his else worlds dad is probably still a racist in a REALLY alternate United States which is why they're all heroes.

And yeah, I love comic book stuff! I love alternate worlds and such. I'm a huge sci-fi fan and comic nerd! It's why enjoy the show.

And lastly... Gunn doesn't do the lazy thing. Everything you mentioned is not Gunn's MO.

Absolutely. Also "Alright dickhead!" Is a friendly greeting.

On topic, I've been seeing bits here and there of peacemaker. I'm semi interested in it, especially as 👋🏻👋🏻 is the lead. How is it? Generally?
So you care about representation?

It's a great show with flawed and interesting characters, unexpected twists and is an emotional story beneath the jokes.

Episode 1 was alright. I'm hoping they give context as to why Peacemaker 2 was so bloodthirsty even though he had tons of heroic accolades.

Was he secretly the Mortal Kombat Universe Peacemaker?

That moment in the end would have been solved with a simple conversation lol.

Representation in greetings terms? Absolutely.

In terms of the show? I care about fun, and how cena is doing in the show

You know what I meant. White male lead. Just say his name. John Cena. Can't believe you didn't know about this show and that he was the lead.

I don't care about that particular issue, re white representation. I do long ass hours as a nurse, so don't get alot of downtime. That's life ain't it.

Second episode has aired. Like I said in the teaser trailer thread: Tim Meadows still got it. Thought his character was just making shit up when he was explaining his bird blindness but nope, it's the reason he couldn't shoot Eagly. Couldn't help but laugh out loud. Also wasn't expecting Eagly to be ripping out eyeballs and jugular veins. He also got a nice little moment to aura farm, as the kids say.

Lastly, second episode of the podcast is also up. This week's guest is Freddy Stroma:

Bit of a nothing episode this week. We saw what Eagly can do last season. I thought Vigilante would provide some insight when in the magic space room again, like the foreshadowing against the White Dragon but they just cut up other Peacemaker.

The intro absolutely SUCKS BALLS. S1 was infinetely better. Love the song and still play it in the car to this day. This one is completely forgettable. No thanks.

We, the audience, saw what Eagly can do last season - ARGUS didn't. Now they know they need a specialist on the team to deal with Eagly... which will end up being Michael Rooker's character.

But yeah, second episode was definitely a bit on the slow side but Tim Meadows is effortlessly hilarious in everything I've ever seen him in so it was still a great episode for me. I thought he improv'd some of his lines but according to Gunn, it was all scripted except for the post-credits scene.

Diggin season 2 but I agree with what others have said- they ruined the intro by changing songs. Season 1 intro was so goddamn catchy

eagly flying through the kitchen past encino man only to go "wait...." and immediately doubling back to fuck him up was the best part of this episode.

so which rick flag is this?
Rick Flag Jr. is the one that Peacemaker killed.
Rick Flag is just Rick Flag in S2.

And Rick Flag Sr. is the one in Creature Commando?

Rick Flag that is the dad of the Rick Flag killed in that suicide squad movie. It can be the Rick Flagg you want it to be.

Maybe this says more about me, but I am very glad they didn't do the obvious joke when the agents were searching Peacemaker's house with the black light given that there was an orgy in the house the previous episode.

Check out american pie book of love, you might like her role in that, especially in one particular changing room scene.
Damn, that was compelling viewing :P

Seems like the only time she really did a scene like that. I wonder what they had to offer versus the other cheesy flicks she was in until capturing Gunn's heart.

k, was a bit confusing, cause Peacemaker looks like middleage, while Creature Commando was like pushing 60 with a full head of white

Frank Grillo is in his 60s in real life. He recently said in an interview that in his head canon, Sr. dyed his hair

The original intention was for him to have grey hair like in CC but Grillo was also filming for Tulsa King which prevented him from dying his hair, so Gunn just rolled with it because it's not a big deal.

It'll probably happen in the next episode, honestly 😄
