Ok, I have a well researched problem with a Gigabyte 7VRX Rev 1.1 Motherboard and a Geforce4 ti4200. Details here

On that page, it says Gigabyte is updated older board by adding a 4.7uF capacitor. Here is a picture of GBs hack job:

So my dilemna--let's pretend I'm absolutely not gonna send it in, and it's finally decided the workarounds aren't working:

Can I buy a simple 4.7uF capacitor from Radioshack and solder it to the board?

Sure. Make sure you have a ~15 watt soldering iron though. Don't want to stick a 50 watt monster to a motherboard.
