Not even remotely surprising. They should of confirmed this long ago though.
I believe Nich hasn't been at Atlus for some time now. Things easily could have changed since he was last there.
Dammit Atlus, now this launch is going to be about the same time as Star Ocean 5... uughh, WTF...
Angry..

is anyone truly shocked? like come on now
I didn't see the trailer when I posted that.
Glad to see more dungeon stuff at least, but still, SoL is kind of Persona's thing.
Don't be children.
There's a difference between missing an announced deadline and "lying". They have nothing to gain by telling you a false date, quit your immature "my faith is broken" drama.
Maybe the team simply asked for more time. It probably wasn't easy for them. This was originally supposed to come out in 2014.Last minute decision to delay a game by a year? If true someone has really fucked up.
Don't call anyone an idiot.I think some of you guys are idiots right now.
Persona 3 released in July 13, 2006 in Japan. Persona 4 released in July 10, 2008 in Japan. And now Persona 5 is about to release in July 2015 in Japan. Why? Because, they're all SUMMER releases.
No wonder why Persona 5 was about to release in Winter 2014 on the PS3, no wonder why Persona 5 was to release this year in PS3 and PS4. They're just playing with us like a damn fiddle because of the anticipation!
I mean like, Persona 4 was announced back in March 2008 and then Persona 4 was released back in July that year in Japan. But when Persona 5 comes along and was announced back in November 2013 and it's all because of the anticipation... Get it?
But.. but.. This is just how Atlus promotes the game, they don't say anything about it until the last moment!
That argument for why we hadn't heard anything about the game until now was so dumb, it was obvious it was going to be delayed.
Dat Atlus PR has some explaining to do lol. All that BS should come back to haunt them.

Because PS4 adoption rate in Japan is ass right now and until Japan picks up the slack on buying PS4s and moves on to current gen like most if the world has already than Japanese Developers will continue to support the PS3 and make Cross Gen titles.I have to question why they're even bothering with a PS3 release in summer of 2016. I remember a thread posted not too long ago that showed only 3% (or something like that) of MGSV's sales were on last-gen and that's a much bigger release. It's only going to get worse.
Well, no shit. Anybody could have seen this coming from a mile away, except the crazy atlus fans. You don't pump all that advertising into a dancing spin off then do nothing for the mainline tentpole release.
And yet the Persona fanboys stayed to the end. If this means that they get a bit of reality snapped into their heads, good.
I think some of you guys are idiots right now.
The thing that annoys me is that Atlua had multiple chances to be real about it. They insisted several times that it was 2015. I would have been fine with 2016 if they just told us when they had the chance more than once. Now I'm just a little annoyed.
Don't call anyone an idiot.
Seems like the best year for gaming of all time, gets delayed every year.
I don't know. SO5 releases half a year earlier in Japan, so it might come out a bit earlier than P5 in the West. Though I expect a faster localization for P5 (at least for NA). FF XV should be the bigger worry for Atlus.
