Persona 5 New Trailer

Nope. Maybe it'll happen though, with SEGA in charge.

Doesn't mean SEGA owns them (Atlus) that they can say anything about their releases. They have let Atlus keep full control of their operations (which includes game projects and related merchandise). So Atlus could publish the games they want, when they want. So... not happening with the Persona Team since they only on console games.

Preparation for University are a really stressing and long process, specially if you want to get in a good one, during final year of High School, or so I heard from a good friend =/

I feel somewhere in there everything they're doing will somehow be a metaphor for this.

P3P and P4G really bored me, but that new trailer is really incredible. I enjoy the style so far a lot more than the other two games - very bold color choices, and the MC looks super cool.

The only thing that sticks out to me it that cat, having a feline mascot is such a generic trope. But other than that, the visual style is very cool! I love that the classic SMT demons are enemies again, the samey shadow enemies in P3/P4 were interesting sometimes but got really old quickly.

And I hope there really are proper dugeons, these RNG hallways were terrible and most likely a budget restriction - seems like they really poured production money into this new game!

Cat burglars man.

I'm fine with the way they look in the trailer, the animation looks really good and I'm pretty hyped to finally play another Persona game on my TV in full HD!

Sega aren't really in charge at all as far I can tell. Sega SAMMY just happens to own both Sega and Atlus but the two haven't crossed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Fair enough. I should probably be thankful that we're even getting this on PS4.

I'm not denying that they share similarities, but at the same time, they also looks different which makes them feel familiar and new at the same time.
It's fair.

If we want to draw similarities, I think it looks much more like Tatsuya's Apollo than Izanagi

Also it has big-ass demonic horns, as it shows during the trailer when it flaps its wings

Imo it looks more like a red izanagi but whatever, you got the point.

I get screen tearing from the youtube player itself sometimes so i only trust source videos or gamersyde for that.
I'm more inclined to believe it's the game than the player or the video (unless that screen-tearing somehow made it past all the quality checks) and since it's the only instance in the entire video and doesn't happen during the all out attack...yeah.

I mean, we'll know for sure when Gamersyde hopefully delivers true HQ footage.

Dammit

Depends how much higschool bullshit it still in

Enough will be in there.

My biggest concern for the game was sticking too close to the settings and tropes of P3 and P4, but this looks like it shattered them by going in quite a different direction. The game still starts with the academic year, but it seems like you play as a bunch of delinquents, or good-students-gone-bad as vigilantes. Seems interesting and stylish.

I still have concerns for the game, such as:
- How well will dungeon crawling be integrated with the time mechanics? This was P3 and P4's biggest whiffs.
- Technical issues. Load times in P3 and P4 on PS2 were terrible.
- DLC. SMT4 and Persona Q DLC are both disconcerting.

You know what's much more annoying than someone going into a thread and saying "this sucks!" without expanding on why? People who endlessly quote the post and replying with their entire collection of gif meme replies which have all been run into the ground years ago.

Slaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Work has been kicking my ass hard, so I wasn't able to keep up with the stream. Really glad this was up when I finally got a break though.

Couldn't watch it with sound, but it looks amazing as expected. I don't think I need to see anything else, just give it to me.

I didn't see a release date though. :(

Why does their age matter again? Oh right, some reductionist bullshit about JRPGs creeping in here. As usual.

Nooope...I played around 30hrs of P4 and P3 and my major complaint was the highschool drama with the clubs and nonessential highschool characters, and the "date" sections. I didnt mind interactions with the towns folk and other characters, because it was actually interesting an not "highschool tv drama 101"

Well, now they can do it because they have Sega support, but back before the acquisition Atlus didn't have operations in Europe (I think?). So releases in EU were troublesome for Atlus.
Huh, must have missed their acquistion of Sega then. But before that their hands were kinda tied as you say

Wait...

I just noticed, and maybe this has already been pointed out..

This guy, isn't that just the main character? He has the same eye color, and hair style just minus the glasses. Maybe this is some form of shadow self?

Now Sony just has to announce the Vita successor so I can buy every conceivable version of this game that will ever be released.

I really like the Catherine vibe I got with some of the art.

In case you're too old to remember, high school drama typically happens in high school. P4 is a reasonably genuine depiction of teenagers discovering their identities (sexual, societal, etc.) seen through the lens of a JRPG.

I've put them together in one gorgeous gif.

Good job man! I like this UI a lot. Everything about this trailer oozes quality. I really can't wait to get my hands on this and just play around with the UI.

Actually come to think of it, the concept behind the UI I think is quite similar to FF XIII UI (the one when you browse through characters). There's a split second animation before the game displaying the UI text which I thought is a simple, neat idea.

For me he looks more like Vincent from Catherine and less like the MC without his glasses. The hair is not that similar.

Yeah he's the main character. That's the new velvet room from what we've seen. And no, I doubt that's his shadow because we have this:

Which shows the main character with obvious shadow eyes.

Highschool drama in a highschool. Who woulda thunk?

Yes it is. You can see the twins from the Velvet Room just outside the cell too. Probably has to do with the "You are slave" thing they had going on.

Whatever grade they're in now since they're older, what specific type of events should we expect in schools during a higher grade in Japan? Like how in America we had to do graduation projects for 12th grade, I wonder what age-specific activities will there be that wasn't in Persona 3/4's younger group (they were younger, right?).

Persona 3's casts are of the 2nd and 3rd years of high school (minus Ken) while Persona 4's are of the 1st and 2nd. We don't actually know of what grade the Persona 5 characters mostly are, but the mark on the MC's collar suggest that he's in the 2nd year.

I kinda wish it was a college story. Maybe someday. That being said college life in Japan isn't considered to be very interesting.
