Waking up to this has improved my day tenfold! My expectations have been greatly exceeded!

The music.
The graphics.
The menus.
The stylishness.
The action.
The Catherine-like art style and animation.

FUCK AM I EXCITED!!

It's possible that person is just the navigator.

Since the dungeon looks like carefully crafted rather randomly generated, I don't think a navigator would be necessary (especially from the trailer, we've seen the crew planning up the heist with some map). Plus, Morgana could be a navigator herself.

Just wanna say that Atlus really knows how to make their protagonists look confident. I find a lot of Japanese games make their MCs look like herbivore men, but the protagonists from P3, 4, and 5 all look headstrong enough in their actions and expressions for me to actually like them.

Most of the time, it's the result to make the protagonist as bland as possible so everyone can self insert to him. But it isn't uncommon either when deves deliberately makes herbivore protagonist since herbivore somehow popular with some female in Japan.

the shop lady looks an awful lot like naoto, but without the long hair
Eh, I thought she looks like Marie than Naoto.

Well, in Japan you have to study, and take university entrance exams and all that in order to get in. Last year of high school is lots of studying. Less emphasis on clubs and all that. If a character was a third year I think it might be weird for him to join a club.
I work with one girl in the 3rd year, and she says she doesn't even have school any more because it is done for 3rd years (though obviously I expect there are still graduation ceremonies and stuff) and she just has been preparing for university.
Unless it has been confirmed otherwise, I'd imagine these characters are maybe 2nd year? Or maybe I'm just confused and high school life in Japan isn't like that/It is less emphasized in the game.
Yeah, this is the reason why most high school characters in games (or anime and manga to that matter) are mostly 2nd year students. Those are the highest times of highschool life.

Yup
This is because Yu is on Morooka's shitlist.

Amazing! It's everything I expected and more. The dungeons and enemies seem to be a lot more dynamic. On the menu it said "Cooperation," I wonder what that's about?

No way, that looked exactly like Gamebryo/Catherine. If Atlus' got a new engine going that looks as good as that holy shit someone needs to license their art department.

Art has very little to do with an engine. What you are refering to is the assets, which is possible to create in any engine if you have the skill and the engine is capable of running it.

That trailer was brilliant, I knew it was going to be good but I wasn't expected that. 4 years of development time well spent (assuming they began after Catherine).

very excited about the demon assets, does anyone else think the one armored knight on the left kinda looks like Thor?

definitely not understanding where all this Persona 2 talk is coming from, I don't see any of that in this trailer. The goofy tone and extended DANCING and flailing is straight Persona 4, and the visuals and scene direction is very Catherine, which is about what I expected.

really feeling those ridiculous menus!

The red/black theme, the masks and costumes being very reminicisent of Joker and the Masked Circle(especially with the MC and Philemon), demons back as enemies, and an unknown, but so far they only showed a small group of 4 characters. Though I won't go into any more detail about this since its super unconfirmed how many teammates you'll have.

Personally, I don't think its similar P2 or 4. Obviously this is a persona game, but based on the trailer, this game looks like its own thing entirely, keeping some things from all the older Persona games, like the calender system, but returning to having demons as enemies.

Hopefully there are only 4. Keep it to the bare minimum, but put maximum effort into fleshing out their character rather than spreading everyone too thin. Chrono cross is an extreme example.

Agreed. I'd love it if they kept it so a small character count and just let your entire team be able to use new Personas.

Statements like this scare the crap out of me. To me, Persona has always been exceptional because of it's cast. I have never felt that a main character didn't feel fleshed out. Atlus are masters of character development. This is one of those situations that less is not more for me. Besides, the characters Persona's have always been an important part of their Personalities. Not to mention the fact that each social link represents an arcana.

It is probably Persona 5's Social Links, it is about at the same height I would expect the Social Links menu to be:

If Bloodborne can release it's game within days (actually first in the west...) I don't see why Persona 5 can't do the same.

Bloodborne probably doesn't have as much text/dialogue to localize as Persona. You're also comparing a company like Atlus USA to SCE.

We got SMT4 in America like 2-3 months after Japan, so I can see a similar time frame for this.

I don't know much about Bloodborne, but Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2, the Japanese versions have all English audio, which means for a western version all they have to do is translate text only stuff (menus signs etc). If Bloodborne is like that it isn't surprising why it can have a simultaneous release.
Now, for a P5 western release, they have to A) Translate all the dialogue, and B) Cast and do all the English voice acting work. If they don't do this during development of the game, then it usually takes at least a few months...

Different localization processes, for one. Bloodborne is obviously primarily aimed at a global market from the outset, while Persona 5 is primarily aimed at a Japanese market and then the western market.

Dancing all Night comes out in the end of June in Japan so I doubt it. I say September release Japan and November release for NA.

Ugh, I really hate the idea of Persona 5 coming out in November. Really hate it. It would be real unfortunate.

Welp.

In the Gematsu interview, Hashino mentions that they're still hard at work building the game and fleshing it out.

We've got at least til fall for JP, maaaybe Winter for NA release.

Oh my god...this game was one of the reasons I bought a ps4, and this trailer only reinforced my decision. Holy shit. Holy shit that looks good...

Killer look, but I'm not too into this series so I hope we see another Catherine-style experiment with this level of polish.

It sounds like you're involving yourself in content you don't like for flimsy personal reasons and then complaining why it's bad after the fact. There's no real basis for certain things in Catherine translating to the biggest international property of Atlus.
Its almost as if preference IS personal.... damn dude, people can not like a game setting due to preferences

Anyway game looks amazing...wondering how they will mix up gameplay and such

Wasn't the overall look of Too Human one of the reasons that Epic investigated if SC still -illegaly- used the Unreal Engine? I assume the art assets are only a part and engine can has its own look. Like, based on how different effects are programmed.
