Status ailments like sleep, confuse etc never work on "key" enemies. If it's an enemy you have to kill to move forward then status ailments of that kind aren't going to work on it. You can use the ones that lower resistance to particular elements though, those work OK.

It's a pity there isn't a spell you can use which will actually lower an elemental resistance enough that they'd actually be weak to it.
I honestly forgot about those skills.

My point still stands though, particularly with that example I gave.

Yeah, various debuffs work quite well on bosses. Lower Attack, Defense, Hit percentage, resistance, etc... as long as SP hold out, it's not that bad.

Pig spoilers
I wasn't expecting all that damage after the first phase was so easy. It OHKO'd my MC with full health. I should have blocked tho.

Yeah, pretty much every attack that telegraphs itself a turn in advance is capable of OHKOing you. Once you start getting more access to buffs/debuffs and get-out-of-jail-free cards you can fudge this rule a bit, but you're not that far yet.

"Wow" is all I can say. As my first Persona game this has been quite the experience; the story, characters, and concept has firmly planted itself as one of my favorite gaming experience. I've read some of the impressions other posters who played all Personas and I can understand that Persona magic. What a great ride it has been these last 2 1/2 weeks and approximately 120:59 of playtime. This is a 10/10 game for me.

Additional note: The epilogue music is fantastic.

Welcome to Wonderland, friend. Now go pick up P4 and dive head-first into the rabbit hole.

Cheers! It's always a joy to see newcomers enjoy their first Persona game so much. I give them a lot of crap but they're very special games.

Persona 5 specially is probably the best ever too, so it's no wonder.

Go give Shin Megami Tensei games a shot too!

Haha, I thought about but my Vita is gone and I don't have any intentions of getting a new one. Besides, I'm heading into NG+ so that'll keep me preoccupied

What a game. I usually don't even like turn based games but I was glued to Persona.

I don't really like playing on the 3DS so I don't think I'll be playing the older games. However, I have my eye out for SMT HD since I have a Switch. I'm there day one.

Treasure type items are meant to be sold, right? I really hope it's not one of those things where they end up being useful for something else. Case in point: I'm itching to sell this onyx!

You haven't tried the "Sell" option at the airsoft shop, haven't you?

The PS2 release (which is still a perfectly fine way to play, though is missing a few QoL enhancements that P4G and P5 have) is also a PS2 Classic on PS3, and runs very well in PCSX2 even on midrange PCs.

Managed to rank up my Proficiency to Max by 11/3 - so from here on I'll be focusing on my confidants, hanging out with Haru whenever available. (And other confidants in order of lowest-to-highest rank when she isn't.)

Should I still bother with ranking up Chihaya at night? Once I have Sojiro out of the way, the only real option then will be Iwai, and I've yet to get a single customizable gun.

Sorry for the delayed response. You might as well do Chihaya's when you have free time now that you don't need to worry about stats for Haru. Between hers and Iwai's, her skills are definitely more useful and may even help you max a couple more confidants than you were planning to.

I can't wait to see how the inevitable P5 spin-offs explain why
the P3 and P4 casts sat this one out. I get why the P3 cast skipped out on P4, since that game took place in a small rural town. But the P5 cast went out of their way to be as public as possible in one of the most famous cities in the world.

I'm in the
6th
palace and I'm loving the music and feel.
Shadow Sae's aesthetic is great
I can't find the
green panel
though and it's pretty annoying. But this is the best palace for me since
Madarame probably
so I'm enjoying it

There is no remotely plausible canon explanation for why the (not even really spoilers but whatever)

wouldn't have their fingers all over what's going on in P5, which is yet another reason I wish they'd just abandon the idea of trying to make some kind of overarching canon of these games and let them just be their own thing.

Uh, so is the Futaba voice line trophy feasible for a first play through? I've done Dungeon 7 and waiting on the deadline, but I don't feel like it's likely because I haven't needed to grind yet.

Does the number of lines heard carry over to NG+?

As cool as it seemed at the time, they really screwed up by introducing the Shadow Operatives back in Arena, I mean, not only they hyped potential comebacks from long forgotten Persona characters, but it makes no sense that they wouldn't be involved in virtually every future game's incidents either, specially P5's for obvious reasons.

What's more hilarious is that they're actually acknowledged in the form of DLC costumes!

I agree that it'd be for the best if the games simply started to not be connected at all. Keep the Velvet room and its residents but only that.

Only have time to play once, going to play on an easier/est difficulty so palaces will mostly be done in 1 day I hear. From a story perspective to get the most out of it, should I wing it? Or follow a guide to maximise the links?

I feel like you should wing it and then watch videos of the links you fail to max out. I remember trying to everything in one cycle in P3 was incredibly boring.

Not true, they work on a lot of the "bosses" in Palace 3.

I wouldn't be too certain. I got the trophy in the New Game+ and actually logged lines. It took me well past the 250+ in the New Game+ to proc it (though I likely had a few duplicates or mistaken quotes). Obviously, many of those lines were said in the original run and they did not count towards it, unless I ran into some sort of bug.

Today I finished the
fifth
palace and I don't know what the rest of GAF is on. Best theme, best music, favorite boss fight so far, basically my favorite dungeon at this point in the game.

Got Charm at 5 and the rest of my stats at 4. Two confidants are maxed and another 3 are at least at 8. Probably not going to max all of them, but it's looking better than I was initially expecting.

Killed an enemy with the +50% EXP ring and got 121 EXP for it.

Killed it without the ring and got also 121 EXP.

Am I missing something here? why isn't the ring working.

Ehhhhh, I don't think it's as big a deal as you're worried- it's the same reason why the Avengers don't always assemble. Just say they're stuck in another case in South America or wherever.

The appeal of a Persona cinematic universe is more attractive than these minor lapse in details.

Just got to the major story twist.

I am disappointed.
I'm fine with the why but I hated the how. I got heavy rain'd all over again with unreliable narrator BS where I could 'remember' gossip I heard random npc saying in a subway on shibuya but conveniently forget several critical moments because 'drugs'. Sigh.

Have you checked if it applies to the exp you get rather than what you're carrying ? I noticed something similar with the Money ring, hmmmm. Actually I have a save I can use to check that (just before a boss fight and I know it gives a round number).

Do you mean 121 experience on the victory screen, or in your status screen for the character?

Your characters never get the full amount of experience, it's split 25% between all of them.
So instead of your character getting 30 EXP, they would be getting 45.

I never got that ring though, so I might be wrong on this.

Yeah I'm only looking at the EXP gained in the victory screen.

I had 18.976 EXP total and got 404 EXP in the last battle and now the total is 19.448

So apparently it did increase even though they don't show it on the victory screen!

How much money are people spending to complete their compendium?

I'm guessing that's the thing you save until the final dungeon to do?

Yes. You will be drowning in cash by the end of the 6th dungeon most likely like I am. Especially if you have a certain star skill that will make it so you don't really even have to grind hold ups.

I switch to safety at the final final dungeon to rack up exp and money.

I now have a war chest of 3 million yen to play around
I'm up to 1.6 million and haven't started the 7th Palace yet. I need to fill up like 50 more persona though. Not sure if I have enough lol.

So 6th dungeon.
Am I underleveled going for the treasure at level 53? I was a few levels above the average until the night before the heist when it suddenly skyrocketed up to 58.

Im a poor rat with 100k after the 7th dungeon. I fused a lot tho but Im still missing tons of personas.

I have like 20% left, there's definitely a few I won't be able to get in this first playthrough as I never max the respective Slinks. Not to mention not finding a few treasure demons

Play how you like, enjoy the existence, YouTube the missing s links. That's if you're not planning two playthroughs. Trying to min max your time will suck a lot off the fun out (unless you're one of those people that likes spreadsheets. Nothing wrong with that, just being clear).
