Just finished
and feeling kind of burned out to be honest. I've spent around 75 hours so far and mostly loved all of it. The dungeons are great but it just feels like it's dragging a bit. I finished the dungeon early on as opposed to the others, maybe I shouldn't have done that? Anybody else feel this way?
Also, I followed (or thought I did!!!) a guide to a T to romance
and it didn't happen!!!! I worked on this for so long...:'(

What rank do you have Takemi at? The romance options are pretty obvious.
As for the burn out, take a little break then come back to it. That palace onwards is where the pacing of the game takes a huge hit, and you definitely don't want to go into it already feeling burnt out.
Next dungeon is awesome and a bit different than the rest. Did you not tell her you weren't kidding and stuff? Lol.
Rest for a couple of days. I stopped playing for 2-3 days midway through the Palace 7th (when I was starting to get tired of the game) and it was enough for me to go back and eagerly finish it.

Probably. I guess like it was a missed opportunity to me, they could have great interactions. Whereas the non Joker party member that Mona did become very close with completely drops off the radar after their arc, leaving no space for meaningful interaction

There is something early on in the Takemi link that makes Romance later impossible. However no one seems to have been able to single out what choices cause it.
Chihaya's is the same way, but that one has been mapped out.

She is rank 10 now. I know they are and I selected the correct ones, I even double checked online so I'm not sure what went wrong....
Taking a break makes sense, I did that last night and jumped into some Nier: Automata and it was really refreshing. I just don't want to take a break and never come back, lol.
Dammit!! I knew I selected the right choices for Takemi....

Sakura locks after 4, and when you reach the points required for 5 you will no longer be able to hang out with him. 2 -> 3 -> 4 just takes ages.

I was actually wondering that right now. I'm on NG+ and might read all the books since social links will be cake this time around. I was wondering if I should get him to rank 4 asap or wait till I get Chihaya and just read for now.
OK, I need to fuse the Mother Harlot to get my second to last fusion for the trophy, but all the fusion calculators are failing me. The ones that do work are registering it as 'impossible' My social links are maxed aside from Fool. What is going on?

There's nothing else to do early in the game on NG+, so no reason not to work on his Confidant.
And since making coffee gets points for him, he's effectively always available.
It's available from the first time you enter Mementos on NG+

Pretty sure you need to make coffee at least once to get from 2 -> 3, then make coffee again to get from 3 -> 4, then it locks until 8/22.

Ah right, coffee is a requirement for 2 -> 3, but it will force you to if you reach the rank up event without doing so anyway. Don't think it is for 3 -> 4 though.

In the first dungeon, about 8 hours into the game...getting absolutely crushed by this one enemy...a gold captain or something. It's the battle where Morgana first suggests using the Guard button. What am I doing wrong here? Feels like it's not possible for my team to take him down...
When he charges up his attack and morgana tells you to guard, have your entire team guard.
The next dungeon is my favorite dungeon and I personally liked the direction of the story at that point as well. YMMV, but I think it's worth it to continue. Summer was a lull that I was never quite comfortable with.

That's weird, I fused Mother Harlot and I don't have Fool maxed yet. It is my secund playthrough, but I don't see why that would matter unless it's impossible to fuse her without the max Fool persona. Calculator seems to suggest otherwise.
You should get the ability to fuse her when you
max Empress

Attack normally, guard when he uses Concentrate with everyone, heal back using Morgana or Ann. If you have Tarunda use it.
When the boss goes under 20% he uses an area attack, so be careful.

Maybe the fusion calc language is dodgy it says requires Max Social Links. So it could just mean 2 or more ?

I just kept feeding to the network fusion until I got all 3 abilities, then merged the personas so I had all 3 abilities on 1.
If it unlocks an alternative ending where Ryuji is instantly arrested, I'll do it.
I should mess around with network fusion more. I only ever used it twice.

Generally, each arcana has an ultimate persona that requires you to max the associated s-link or confidant. Mother Harlot is one of those personas. It'd be really weird for there to be a second requirement that the game doesn't tell you about when it says "now that you have maxed Empress, you can fuse Mother Harlot," unless there is a specific fusion pair (or pairs) required to fuse Mother Harlot that uses another ultimate persona as an ingredient. But the fusion calculator lists multiple potential pairings, including Titania and Queen's Necklace, neither of which require a maxed confidant to get.
To the original question-asker: I would double-check that a) you're using the right pairs of personas to get Mother Harlot, and b) you've actually maxed the Empress confidant. I can't think of any other reason why you wouldn't be able to fuse her.
