Kinda not really on topic, but would now be a good time to try P4G out? I want to try out the series especially with a new one coming out next year, I'm looking at it on Amazon right now...

Margaret will be the new Igor.

Elizabeth will be handling fusions while Theodore will replace her for the New Game + playthrough in which you play as
P3
Female main character.

Marie will handle the Live stream interactions via Live from Playstation, exclusively on the PS4 version. She will do the weather broadcasts on the PS3 version.

Absolutely. Best game I've played all year (with Smash). Wasn't sure what to get for my Vita when I bought it in February. Mentions on various sites, GAF hype and it being in the All-Time best rated games on Metacritic, I figured why not. Really glad I went for it.

Start with Persona 3 Portable or FES first.

Thanks everybody, ordering it now! Really excited to finally play it!
I am so jealous of you right now.

I spoiled the entire game before playing it and I still love it.

Don't search up ANYTHING about the game. I'd you need hwlp, ask GAF.

It's not too bad if he goes back to them afterwards. It's what I did and I think I would've been turned off the series if I played FES on Normal first.

Good! Also, do as wmlk said. I thought I spoiled the whole game for myself when I searched what "Drn" meant (Drain, basically absorb an attack) and landed on an IGN wiki page that had a Gold trophy description. Turns out it was a secret boss and not a major story spoiler, but still. For a while I was real bummed because I thought I was spoiled.

P4G was my GOTY this year - simply the best thing I played (I know it came out before that but I only played it December 2013 - Jan 2014).

Will do, I'll go through blind on my first play through! Thank you Amazon Prime trial, itll be here soon.

I think this game is lost...

If it were releasing next year, PSX could've been a great spot to grab attention with a gameplay video.

Unless maybe ATLUS doesn't care about marketing at all.

So you own a Vita and not P4G? Yeah, you probably want to fix that.

And I don't mean to imply everyone will love the game, but considering it's $20 now and easily 80 hours (or more) if you get invested in the game, there's really no excuse to give it a try.

Its not gonna get as much coverage as it deserves.

I thought with the PS4 announcement,Sony would push Persona a bit more in one of the major conferences.

Hm, well I can see how it would've been good marketing to have something for this today and none of the FF VII trolling nonsense. It wouldn't have soured a bunch of people on an otherwise great event too. But I think if Atlus are serious about marketing it, they still have good chances.

Say they release it in September in Japan and in November here. That would leave the the next couple of months for some first details, then the event in February for some more info, then promote it in North America at E3 (and hopefully have talks about it for EU at GDC), then have people here catch wind of a TGS blowout right before release, then the reviews and word of mouth can do the rest.

Sony has mentioned the game in their last two big press conferences without their even being gameplay yet. Not only is that easily the biggest promotion the series has ever had, it's a huge vote of confidence.

Marketing is one problem they won't have. They already don't. Sony is pushing this thing based on pedigree.

They just announced a 77-day countdown for a concert. If they know months ahead what they'll be doing, I'm not too worried.

Persona 3 and Persona 4 also had a major blitz of information for just a couple of months and then BAM, the game was released. The situation is completely different now since Persona can sell millions, but Atlus may be doing just that. You don't have to trickle out information over a year to get mindshare.

I'm not taking a position with this, but there is a tremendous difference between Atlus Japan marketing prospects for the game and Atlus USA marketing prospects, and I believe he's talking about the latter.

Atlus USA will follow Atlus Japan, so that negates that worry completely for me.

Basically, we don't even have the slightest clue what type of coverage the game will get because there hasn't been any on the Japanese side. I think the concerns of it being "lost" are premature and a bit baseless at this point.

Not quite. The concert that will feature Persona 5 in some way in a couple of months is an example of something that won't have a North American analog. It's unlikely that Persona 5 is featured on the cover of popular video game magazines, as it already has in Japan. North America didn't have a live stream dedicated to the announcement of the game (and others) as Japan did. North America hasn't had an official panel dedicated to the dissection of a Persona 5 trailer. Every Persona game has had an increased presence in terms of publicity in Japan compared to North America, and Persona 5 will not be an exception. That's where what HeelPower was talking about comes in.

Why not just show that teaser on stage? Puzzling...
Well it's the exact same teaser that we already saw a few months ago. Guess they didn't want to waste time showing old content on stage.

Though it is a bit baffling why they even bothered to mention it in the keynote at all in that case... Ah well, at least this is just more confirmation for a 2015 release and speedy localization!

You're right about all that.

I still think it's premature since there simply hasn't been much to show off outside of Japan yet. Atlus USA are doing things for Persona 5 months after Atlus Japan debuts it.

Come E3 2015, if Persona 5 is not shown after the concert, then I'll start getting worried. Atlus USA showing something new for Persona 5 is triggering these reactions and I think people expected too much.

Would recommend it! Never a bad time to jump in the series. Definitely would recommend 4 over the others, it improves greatly on the previous games.

Well yeah, if at least for that it was a good thing after all. It shows they know fans want it, and the reaction from the crowd likely reinforced it. Sony will probably give it a good spot at E3, now that a PS4 version is happening makes it all the more likely.

hope it goes well.

Can't wait to see the gameplay for this. I really hope that they follow in PQ footsteps and make some truly awesome dungeons and puzzles this time. SMT: Nocturne did the dungeon crawling and puzzle stuff pretty decently back then, so I know they can have awesome dungeons in 3rd person as well that match how great the first person dungeons in PQ are.

I am down for this, but is there any word of a P4G port to PS4? Do I need to have played that to get the most out of P5. (And I hope this post is not construded as port begging.)

Coming out the same week in NA as it will in Japan is great news, but no mention of Europe makes me a sad panda. Still, Atlus Shrugged and all that, so it isn't unexpected, and it's times like this you take advantage of region-free coding anyway.

Do popular video game magazines even exist anymore? Other than Game Informer, which is largely subsidized?

I think people are worried for nothing. Atlus didn't want to show any new P5 footage, so no P5 footage was shown. It's not like Sony can MAKE them show it (I mean they could, but what purpose would that serve other than to get on Atlus' nerves?)

Unless people are hoping that Persona 5 would get pushed to Skyrim numbers through a big beefy marketing campaign, in which case... you are crazy. Stop being crazy.
