Persona 5 TGS trailer

Man, that was amazing!! The dungeons they showed all look really unique. Sucks about the delay though; it's gonna be a hard wait for this game, but definitely worth it in the end.

Not just outlaws, but picaresque romance figures. Goemon and The Fiend With Twenty Faces are likely the ones next to Arsene, Zorro and the two others for Ryuji and Anne.
I'm gonna guess that Anne's Persona is named Bonnie (as we know that Bonnie wanted to steal to get enough money to go to Hollywood & become a star, & was initially talked into it by Clyde). If so, one of the other Personas will have to be named Clyde.
I'll lose my shit if we get Personas named John Stamos or Peter Quill/Star-Lord.

I think it's more of I've seen more gameplay for FFXV and SO5 than in P5 to get me more excited. I saw SO5's 5 minute pure gameplay preview and I've played the FFXV demo. Sadly P5 still shows little gameplay compared to those two. Hence why I'm more excited for SO5 and FFXV. Don't get me wrong but I'm also excited for P5.

It might change if there's an actual playthrough for P5. Anyway my trailer preferences for the TGS ones come with what I've seen before, not to mention I really like FFXV's overall theme.

I see where you are coming from. I've saw the SO5 gameplay and it definitely looks like what I want out of SO, but FFXV would benefit from more gameplay outside of Duscae.

The gameplay slices in the P5 trailers look cool but I need to see some solid uninterrupted game footage.

I just did some research, & discovered that the P5 Protagonist is indeed voiced by Roy's VA. Knowing that they got such a high-profile VA, should we expect the Protagonist to speak more often beyond a scene or two?

I'm probably gonna name my protagonist Peter Quill unless we get a canon name before release (which I doubt).

Well, I think you're being facetious, but again... they're not picaresque romance figures while that's seemingly going to be an inspiration for each of the Personas. Robber != picaresque influence.

Why are you comparing him to Roy? Lol.

We've heard him speak quite a bit already. Watch PV02.

I'm just saying that Roy's VA (who's high-profile to begin with) is the voice of the P5 Protagonist. Altus wouldn't have shelled out that much money to hire him unless the Protagonist was gonna speak more often. I do recall PV02, though.

Man, I really hope we get a dual audio/subtitled version in the west.
That depends on how big the game is. If it fills the entire disc, I wouldn't get your hopes up. If there's space to spare, then maybe.

If John Stamo is in P5 (Cameo, character, voice actor, whatever) then I hope the twin girls in the Velvet Room are named Mary-Kate and Ashley.
Now you're making me want a Chris Pratt cameo.

Roy? The Fire Emblem character that has like 6 lines and a bunch of battle cries? I thought he was known and recognized mostly for doing Lelouch in Code Geass?

It should also be noted that taking on this voicing gig also pretty much guarantees drama cds, spinoffs, and anime, so even if the character didn't have many voiced lines in the game, there'd be many more outside of it.

Maybe we'll get an official name for the P5 Protagonist sooner rather than later. We had to wait years for Yu & Makoto to get their names, hopefully we won't have to wait that long for the P5 Protagonist.

Daisuke Namikawa (P4 Protagonist) and Akira Ishida (P3 Protagonist) are also quite high profile.

Also, Jun Fukuyama (P5 Protagonist) voiced this person from Humanity Has Declined:

Who uttered a grand total of two words during his 12-episode appearances.

In any case, he'd probably have more to do in the eventual anime adaptations.

We technically don't have one for him yet. All the games he's been in you have to name him. Yu's name became official because of the Arena games and DAN.

You have me there.

Considering he's speaking full sentences, I'm hoping the protag has fully voiced dialogue and choices. It'd make me super happy.

I really hope the dub has big of a star-studded cast than the JP version does. Only problem is that most of the big American voice actors have already been in P3 or P4 (or both) :P

This game really does look like something very special. It's like a culmination of P3/P4 and the narrative lessons they learned from Catherine.

The engine still looks inferior to Catherine's (Gamebryo) engine though, and that was on a PS3. If this is PS4 footage, it's just unacceptable that there should be any jaggies with the low polygon level shown. I hope they take the extra time to improve on this front.

I just can't believe it's another year away though. What's shown in the trailer already looks polished. Did they decide to change some of the narrative? Add tons of extra content? Or was what's shown merely the painted-in bits of a significantly unfinished game?

Doing double-duty across the Persona franchise isn't new for the English dub. Troy Baker did both Kanji & Eikichi, while Yuri Lowenthal did both Makoto & Yosuke.

For as much as I didn't like playing Catherine, I thought it looked fantastic. So honestly if P5 was the swansong of the PS3 that I wish it was, with the graphics of Catherine I would have been more than happy. Stylistically, Persona games don't need super powerful graphics to look great since their art directions and use of color are fantastic.

Right, but in the cases of both actors they played a character with constant spoken dialogue and another with barely any likes at all.

Anyone that played a main party member in in P3 or 4 is not playing one in P5.

Makoto & Yoskue had quite a bit to say in Persona Q, but I get your point as far as the main games go. And Troy Baker did three party members across the Persona franchise (I almost forgot Kei in Persona 1's PSP remake). Obviously Troy's busy with other stuff now, but you get my point.

I mean, it's good you bring that up as that's surely a situation they'll be trying to avoid going forward.

It's actually happened twice in that Johnny Yong Bosch played both Yu Narukami and Adachi. It was fine in vanilla P4 when Yu was an unnamed mute. Pretty jarring in the spin-off stuff.

I'm just worried if they ever decided to do another spinoff where the casts of P3/4 meet P5 and we have triple duty voice actors and even more double-duty voice actors. Some can pull it off easily, but other's not so much.

Thinking about it, Nolan North hasn't been in a Persona game yet.

He hasn't and he has the range to support multiple roles.

Jun did Lelouch Lamperouge. I'm excited

Don't wait a year. Play one now. Play P4G.

I'm honestly only interested in playing during the usual drought. The art style is fantastic and it looks like nothing I've ever played, but I'm already buying, at minimum, one game a month through April. I'll hopefully have May and June to clear the backlog and would love it if something unique popped up later in the summer when it's too hot to do anything that doesn't involve a boat here in Minnesota.

Nolan North is beyond Atlus USA's price range. You could say the same for Troy Baker these days, but he's buddy-buddy with Atlus USA (since they helped get his career going), so it's more of a matter of Troy being busy with other roles.

You're most likely right, but maybe P5 being as anticipated of a game as it is allowed Atlus USA a bigger budget for localization and they can get some bigger voice talent.
