Anyone here getting DeSu Record Breaker? Its coming out fairly soon? I often get the impression that regulars here only play persona and nothing much else![]()
Have you checked the thread's title? Maybe that's why.
I'm in Europe, so I'll have to wait.

0_0...that would be pretty dark. XD
You know, that Nanako commercial might be the one time we've actually seen extended footage of a P4D character actually dancing in rhythm to a single song.
Is that bad?

Bad? Uh, I dunno. What do you mean?
If you mean if it's a possible indication of the characters' dance choreographies to songs or something, well, I don't really think it says much about it. Atlus Japan's trailers tend to lean more on story and flash than gameplay, and that was the same for P4AU and PQ.

I meant it in the context of seeing so little raw, extended gameplay.
Didn't she dance like this during the first trailer?
Oh. 0_0
Ok one more quick one: should I always keep Orpheus with me?mostly because I saw his "real form" in the beginning cutscene when I first summoned him.
Or is it like Persona 4 where his real form comes out towards the end of the game?

I feel like some sort of alignment system based on who you "Cooperate" with, maybe similar to Desu2, is very likely tbh. Having multiple ending that way would be more interesting and have more replay value than simply a good, bad, or true ending.I think Persona 5 already looks pretty different from its predecessors, considering that they could have gone a safer more standard route instead of having its themes and aesthetic diverge pretty significantly, but I see what you mean.
This is something I've been thinking about for a while:
These are what I've been considering:
- The protagonist's dual nature between docile looking student and brash thief.
- One of the game's slogans being "What awaits us? Will it be glory? Or will it be destruction?", with "Glory" being written in clean white, while "Destruction" is a ruptured red text.
- Hashino's favorite 2014 game being inFamous: Second Son because of its morality system that engaged the player.
The dichotomy motif makes me think of a Shin Megami Tensei style "Chaos" and "Law" split. It's something I consider more when I think back to how the last new, solo P Studio gameCatherinehad a morality mechanic. I wonder if Persona 5 could have something like it, and if it could have a bearing on the Cooperation system.

I'll get Record Breaker when it drops to $20, just like I did Overclocked. They are out of their damn minds if they expect me to pay $50 for it. It's not half the game Soul Hackers is.
This is debatable, right? I mean, Soul Hackers was virtually a straight port. Record Breaker has a whole new campaign.
I'm back to December in P4G and it might be my third time through it but I still get all misty eyed and choked up, dangit.

I'm talking about the game itself. Soul Hackers did add new dungeons and (fully voiced) optional bosses as well. SH is also a legit classic, DS2 wasn't even as good as DS1.
I get the feeling my enjoyment of P4 compared to P3 is proportional to how good each game's December is.
- As I thought, a song only has a single available character for it: the "main character."
They've fucked up.
Being able to customise characters looses value when you can't invest into your favourite character and use them when you want.
I much prefer the route they took of actually putting a lot of thought into their motion capture and model animations for unique songs, evoking the personality of each character.
Famitsu, Dengeki and 4Gamer posted new Persona 4: Dancing All Night previews. I put a bunch of work into this one, so I'll shamelessly plug the Persona Central post if anyone wants to see all of the info in one place.
Bunch of new info in those, and I've gotten a better understanding of the game's structure. Notably:
- As I thought, a song only has a single available character for it: the "main character."
- Partners can be chosen from any other character, with unique dialogue and choreography depending on the combinations. However—and I'm not totally clear on this part—I believe partners only come into the fray once "Fever" mode is attained, which would explain why duet segments have been called "Community Fever." This would also make sense since it's hard to imagine there'd be unique choreography and dialogue for each unique character pairings throughout a full song.

There goes my dream of making Yukiko dance in Kanji's style, oh well.
I'm fine with what they've done since it wouldn't be as dissonant as something like Yukiko doing a full Kanji routine, but maybe they could still have a partner adopt another character's dance style in portions of a dance for humor or synchronicity.
I'm interested what will happen when Yu dances with Marie, I guess someone has to come up with some kind of tsundere dialogue.
In true Tsun fashion Marie doesn't dance. She just stands in the corner of the room and crosses her arm while frowning and complaining about how all the songs are dumb and not her style.

i think marie will dance to poetry, dance as she reads it out loud kind of dance.
"Get off me, blockhead"
So she's gonna free style (rapping) then? lol
so a tsundere says the opposite of what he/she thinks? and secretly wishes for the opposite to happen

When's the Atlus press conference?
When's the Atlus press conference?
One of her poems was rapping already. I think we've stumbled on something.
When's the Atlus press conference?
You missed it, it was in February.
Glorious.

Agreed.They've fucked up.

But when the ways they evoke the character are so shallow, does it actually matter? Like I said before, it's all J pop dancing with small flourishes unique to a character. Take out the occasional kicks Chie does and her dance could be anyone's.As someone who doesn't care about that or vanilla dance styles that embodies any model, I much prefer the route they took of actually putting a lot of thought into their motion capture and model animations for unique songs, evoking the personality of each character.
Agreed.
This is a terrible decision.
Bye bye DLC revenue.

Unless of course the DLC is the other characters' dance routines for songs you already have...
That would be awful, but there's no chance of that anyway.
I'm really soured on this. It will make me a lot less likely to play certain songs. Nanako's tracks? Never gonna get played. Kanamin's? NOPE.
