Yeah I'm actually really interested in this. I've never really played a EO game tho so I'm wonder if I can even get thru this.

Play EO4. That's their previous game and there's a demo if you want to try it. Not sure how close it'll be to this game, but you should play EO as it's the GOAT.

I think this game might be an attempt to attract more people to the EO series from Persona. Similar artstyles and gameplay, but with a Persona coat.

Same here. The constant switching between your characters' summoning their personas and then to a first person view to see the enemies getting attacked looked great.

FES is Persona 3 & expansion, no reason to buy the standard original.

Persona 3 Portable is Persona 3 without the 3D city areas to run around in, and some animu sequences removed, different MC option for different social links.

I chose P3FES over portable because of the first 2 points, but would choose otherwise feeling what I do now. The 3D city areas lose their novelty really quickly as there's no fast-travel like P4 has, while P3P only requires you move a cursor to navigate everything.

P3P doesn't include the expansion, so you would need to buy it anyway to play the extra story afterwards, but you can start it without having any save file.

FES for content. P3P for control and additional MC.

Oh wow, I guess I'm gonna play FES? I can only take so much of Persona.

So this is a spinoff for the 3DS but they put the rhythm game on the Vita? This is some serious... Let me not. I'm not a fan of atlus anymore, that's all I got to say. All this Vita swiping is fucked up seriously. I don't know why it couldn't come out on both.. Ridiculous.

They're the same but the guy after me forgot to say that you can't control all party members in FES. Only the MC can be controlled there buy in Portable you can control everybody which means it leads to a less frustrating experience. Plus it's portable so you can play it anywhere unlike FES.

As far as chibi styles go, this one is pretty nice IMO.

We could of gotten a moe/loli Etrian style or more Theatrhythm style garbage. (And I like Theatrhythm.)

Yeah I kinda spaced out on that. I guess we'll find out if Soejima is doing chibi designs, or if they're chibi designs based on original designs of his which look different. Either way, it's not like it matters much. Looks good to me.

I'd recommend Portable. It has some stuff removed/changed (the FES campaign, some FMV cutscenes turned into slideshows, and the town exploration changed to a point-and-click-style interface), but it also added a bunch of stuff (female main character w/ new social links, and I believe it added aspects from Persona 4 like direct control of allies and All-in attacks).

Persona Q is directed by Daisuke Kaneda. The EO4 director. It's focused on dungeon crawling and has EO style battles.

Haven't played any dungeons in P3P myself, but I believe that area of the game is fully 3D, identical to FES. Also I think P3P allows you to control your 3 party members while FES does not, a major gripe people have with the game (there's pretty much meme type images for how stupid some of the AI can be). You can also acquire items in P3P that stop your party suffering from fatigue, which is a mechanic that prevents you doing too much of the dungeon in one night of the game, meaning you need to enter several times to reach the monthly checkpoint in FES, or you party will be severely gimped.

It WILL be localized. I know that people are thinking it won't because of how long Shin Megami Tensei IV is taking, but it's also likely that Nintendo is publishing SMTIV but also translating it in 5 languages. I'm sure NISA will pick this one, if they've localized Soul Hackers, Etrian Odyssey IV and Etrian Odyssey Untold.

Persona 3 and 4 were already "moderately deformed", jumping to "super deformed" doesn't really feel like that much of a leap to me.

They're obviously going for a totally different style and atmosphere for the game so the two aren't really comparable.

Now if you had an argument that you prefer a certain chibi style over this one that would make more sense.
