Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth announced for 3DS (p3/p4/chibi spinoff, EO-ish)

Well, I guess next year fans can discuss if they'll rather have Persona Q 2 in 2016 or EO5. Lol. I just hope they come up with a lot of new elements so it doesn't feel stale.

Oh god no... I just wonder what's going to happen, I was disappointed and didn't even finish Untold. I need them to go back to focusing on what's good about the series with EO5.

You guys like this more than the usual persona art style:

Seriously?
its a spinoff of this

Of course its going to look cute.

I like the original but i also like this :D

Persona 3 and 4 were already "moderately deformed", jumping to "super deformed" doesn't really feel like that much of a leap to me.

I always kinda thought that it was deformed purely because of technical difficulties or rather the art style themselves because of the wacky all-out attack. Deforming them more would make look too childish in which the Persona series isn't known for. Especially 3's undertones being dark and 4's deaths despite it's fun nature.

Unless parents take heed of buying this game, if it is dark, then the children, which is Nintendo's market, may be exposed to dark themes. Especially if you count 3's MC fucking blasting his own head.

I only played the demo for Etrian Odyssey Untold, but the grimoire stone stuff in the game reminded me of persona fusion.

Game looks fucking great. Love the art style and an EO style combination seems to be a match made in heaven.

I hope it's canon. Arisato/Makoto is back, bitches.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't a P3 and P4 crossover hinted at not long ago?

Anyway, I'm happy it's not 1st person going by the trailer, you see the characters in battle at least.

It's first person, but it shifts dynamically when you attack. Reminds me of 7th Dragon 2020.

You know now that we got all the announcements im ok with Q.
Chibi art style and all sure I would have preferred the regular look but this is fine by me.

This game's logo just makes me think Persona meets Scooby Doo or something...

All of the Atlus titles in the 3DS developer list 3 years+ ago are filled up now.

I really doubt this game is what they had intended when they mentioned a Persona game way back when... But even so, they have done it. That SMT game on the Vita needs to pls happen.

You're insane if you think this is canon. They're all the same age, for one. People that should be dead are alive. This ain't canon. If it is...

Haven't played any dungeons in P3P myself, but I believe that area of the game is fully 3D, identical to FES. Also I think P3P allows you to control your 3 party members while FES does not, a major gripe people have with the game (there's pretty much meme type images for how stupid some of the AI can be). You can also acquire items in P3P that stop your party suffering from fatigue, which is a mechanic that prevents you doing too much of the dungeon in one night of the game, meaning you need to enter several times to reach the monthly checkpoint in FES, or you party will be severely gimped.
Thanks everyone, yeah I'm going with P3P, lolololol. I'm not a Persona fan so I don't mind missing some extra story sequences.

People were disappointed because this was the lead announcement. No one knew if this game would be the only thing announced.

Well I wasn't following the stream, but it seemed obvious to me that we were getting a P5 announcement so it all looks overblown to me? This seems like a good choice for the lead announcement since they decided to show nothing of P5. P4A2 and that dancing game aren't nearly as exciting.

I just hope we get this in bearable timeframe here in Europe. :/

I don't really buy the "technical difficulties" excuse, but whatever the reason, bobble head in game characters were bobble head characters. This isn't really that far removed from that.

I doubt anyone thought it would come to pass like this though...

What were people really expecting though? As I said, aside from the install base, were people really expecting Persona 3DS to be P5, I mean from the bottom of their heart expecting?

I said I was expecting it to be a new version of P3. I didn't expect a ground-up new exclusive RPG, spin-off or not, actually spin-off would've been much more likely to me.

SMTIV was not deformed at all, so it's most likely a design choice.

SMT didn't even have that many 3D models and everything was 2D and looked like an NES game.

This Chibi art style just proves my point all along. A real canon persona game would not work here. I'm glad 3DS fans got the spin off they wanted tho.

With the P5 announcement out of the way now, I can look more calmly at this one. It looks good, I love Persona, I love EO, this should be a game for me. Really looking forward to it.

But P3 was on PSP though in 3D?

This is amazingly hilarious. I'm very happy right now.

For purse owners, handhelds obviously make perfect sense. And it was clear from the teasers that it wouldn't be P5, anyway.
...Oh, it seems they announced P5 also. I missed that. That makes things slightly less funny, but eh.

The only slightly disappointing (though not at all surprising) thing is the absence of the P3P FeMC. Polearms > swords. Fire Emblem taught me this, so it can't be wrong.

this game has better graphics than p3 and 4. it's just a design choice.

Considering that this is non-canon, and we've already got some other "questionable" character inclusions, I don't know why FeMC and Metis are missing.

I really hope they make it in.

There probably were a lot of people thinking that it would be P5. I wonder if this will end up being the best selling persona game yet... How did EO do? (Or at least until P5)

100k odd I think? EO4 was the highest in the series, don't think Untold did that well. Don't remember.
