Peter Berg to direct Boston Marathon Bombing movie

Wait, how is it propaganda to focus on the victims? Why should a film tell the terrorist perspective? That seems like poor form to me.

To be blunt the bombers are the most important aspect of this story. Without them this doesn't take place. You can focus on the victims but then you're not actually trying to understand or even show why these bombings took place. It's like doing a movie on BTK and focusing on his victims.

Yeah this is way too soon for a movie, if ever really. Like I get it if like 20+ years from now they do one as there would be a ton of people who weren't alive, or old enough, to know the events. Plus after time more information about the events, testimonies and what not can add new information and insight for even those who were around and aware of the events when they happened. But barely a two years after is kind of sick.

Why on Earth does this need a movie? Seems rather way too soon. That and seems to be in poor taste..

But to be fair.. I found the 9/11 movies to be in poor tastes too. IMO. Guess just not for me.

20+ years?

We got a 9/11 film five years after the event, and ~3000 people died in some of the most horrific ways possible.

Yeah that shit did not need to be made, twice. Wait make that 3 times since there was also the Nick Cage film as well as the two planes films.

As someone who vividly remembers that day, I have no interest in watching either of these movies. Best wishes to those looking forward to them.

I know World Trade Center and United 93, what was the 3rd one?

Remember Me?

Flight 93 was a competing made for TV movie that was announced and developed around the same time of United 93 and came out a few months before it.

Something loud and really close?

The one where the marketing slogan was literally, "This isn't a 9/11 movie!!!"

Well even though that movie is fucking terrible, it at least it's not just a reenactment of the events for no good reason, but a look at how it affected people.

How long until we see a movie about the Charleston massacre?

I mean, it can't be far off. We've had movies about 9/11 and we're getting movies about Benghazi and now Boston. Surely Charleston isn't unlikely at this point.

You just solved years of confusion.

For years I remember watching a movie where it ended with some farmer dude seeing United 93 crash, and then every time I see the ending of United 93 it just ends with an instant cut to black.

For fucks sake, three movies in development based on the bombing.

Americans sure love their tragedy porn.

Shining too much light on racial issues, not so much.

I hope they do it from the perspective of the bombers so that we can still get an uplifting ending with Chariots of Fire playing.
