Not that that hard to understand. White men are most likely to have these kind of views and they are also the most likely people to participate in video game communities.

People quickly learn what is and what isn't accepted in the communities they participate in. Doesn't mean they actually change. They just learn to shut up and hide their racist shit until they feel its OK to say how they feel. You see this all the time in real life where you might say something that that makes them think you are "one of them" and all the racist shit comes pouring out. Brought up how I thought it was crazy that the NBA removed the "Year of the Monkey" shirts after players/fans complained and how it wasn't racist at all (it was actually the year of the monkey) and an OTP reaction that disrespected another culture and an acquaintance decided it would then be perfectly fine to start shit talking the NAACP and going on an All Lives Matter tirade as if that had anything to do with what I was saying.

You saw this during the election too where Trump could only get X% in polling and there were a significant amount of people that didn't want to admit they supported him but voted for him anyway but said they were "undecided".

There are going to be people that know their views aren't accepted and rather than reflect inwards and change they will just find ways to hide it. They don't want to accept the consequences that might come with airing those views.

All you need to understand racists are wasting their time to get banned from a video gaming forum because they must defend racism. It'd be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

I think they view gaming as their "safe space" to be racist shitholes without persecution. PDP is emblematic of that. This controversy forces these users to look at themselves in the mirror, and holy hell they do not like it.

Yup, I blame YT "celebrity" era.

With Chris and Dave gone from TV, these kids aren't growing up with black comedy shows to understand about black culture and racism.
Especially "Everybody Hates Chris", now that is a good show about life growing up as a black kid.

Tell me about it. I work in advertising, and the hoops I have to jump through to get our ads off of white supremacist propaganda channels is mind numbing. And they keep popping up.

Then there's the seemingly innocuous channels, but they have one video where they say a homophobic slur and suddenly we have to blacklist their entire channel.

YouTube is going to have a mass exodus from advertisers soon. The bubble is about to pop. The adpocalypse was just the beginning. I recommend any YouTubers in the house shift to Patreon and tips ASAP.

Now I'm really curious to see how other companies will respond, if they respond at all. Campo Santo has taken a clear stand with action. What is PUBG gonna do? What will other publishers do with their games? It's probably too much to hope for more developers to issue DMCAs or even publicly condemn his comments. They should feel some responsibility to respond as they profit from his videos and you gotta at least pretend to care about the community you profit from.

The community doesn't care though and that is the problem. The damage is already done. I've seen YouTube comments by black children (and yes it is them, you can see from their videos and profile picture) saying "lol I ain't even mad, funny how it's white people who are triggered."

If most of the people who play these games are racist or as they state """in the middle"""" then the problem goes way back to when these streamers were given so much freedom and power in the first place.
