PewDiePie calls someone a "fucking n****r" during PUBG livestream

How can you find out how many subscribers a twitch streamer has?

You can't, only if the streamer has said publicly what it is. Although I am pretty sure Lirik has more than 20k subs. Closer to 30k I reckon. Add in sponsorships and he is likely making over $1 mil a year.

What if Pew or a other white guy spit ''nigger'' ma nigger in a jovial way. Is that acceptable?

I really dig the ''Maaaa Nigger'' Denzel Wahsington line and sometimes use it to express my thankfullness to some friends I know.

Don't kill me.

No, never ever is that acceptable.

Is that the line?

Usually streamers will tell you in my experience. I'm sure they get taxed up the ass though on every dime they make I doubt he's actually pulling in $840,000 a year.
Just as much tax as anyone pays. Probably runs it through a business though, so not everything is filed as income tax. There is no special higher level here they are paying.

I'm pretty sure someone earlier in this thread used Mafia 3 as an example of "look how often the word is used, no wonder people say it!" ignoring the fact that Mafia 3 clearly contextualizes it as a word used by fucking bigots.

More people need to play Mafia 3.
Truth.

You use the word "nigga" when expressing happiness with your friends? Whatever, fuckface.

You use the word "nigger" when expressing anger with your friends? Fuck you.

I said that just because I genuinely enjoy Liriks content. He's made me laugh more times than I can count. As such, its disappointing to see him respond this way.

Thats all.

Oh no, no worries, I wasn't responding to what you said, I was responding to lirik's tweets. Sorry, maybe I trimmed the quote in a dumb way.

It's bad.

A lot of people who use it don't actually hate black people.

But they probably don't really care about or respect them, or understand what the word's controversy comes from/enjoy inciting controversy since they don't suffer consequences.

Here's what I expect from PewDiePie's inevitable non-apology:

"Look guys, I'm not really a racist, I have a lot of diverse friends and I don't judge people based on their skin. Hate is bad. I don't hate anyone.

As for why I used that phrase, sometimes offensive phrases just pop into my head. I used a really bad one then, I didn't mean it, and I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm sorry I used that phrase because it offended people. Let's all just try to get along!"

In retrospect, it's amusing and telling that The Game Awards trending gamers of the year in 2014 and 2016 were TB and Boogie.

You can't really celebrate gaming without your hypocrite moderate who gives cover to the awfulness of the community.

I'd like to put $50 on "It's just a word", please

Wtf is this.

This thread is something else.

Are there any big name youtubers who have spoken out against pdp? Only one I've seen is Jim Sterling. All the rest either are saying "muh money" or "Iol sjws" or "both sides". Is there anyone who is willing to say fuck pdp?

If you're the kind of streamer that is going to let slip out the occasional 'n****' , then you need to be finding something else to do with your time

I still don't even like the ga/er difference. It just gives people an excuse to throw around the vulgar phrase. I want it all abolished tbh.

I'm so saddened to see a young black kid (PDP's Target) doing mental gymnastics to excuse him

This is why this shit needs to be directly condemned from all sides, head on.

While, i don't really care to discuss the merits of PDP's talent, Martin tap danced on a good point. The internet and the reach it has allows people to do things of the lowest caliber to try to get instant fame and recognition.

Compound this with the fact that we're rapidly moving towards a space where the majority of people who consume content on the internet have very little, if any, idea what life is/was like without the internet. So naturally kids are going to be learning from this shit, not just off the virtue that they're kids, but because they've been consuming this content for their whole lives

So if the most popular person on the most popular video site is saying stuff like this and he's being unchecked, particularly by his contemporaries on the same exact platform, you're just begging kids to just shrug this off in the same exact manner and normalize it in their own lives

If the word wasn't a part of your vocabulary, it wouldn't come so easily to your lips in a "heated" situation (playing a video game ffs)

Done.

When I get angry in games, I use the word "Mother" and "Fucking" and "Frustrating" and "Asshole" a lot. Never a racial slur. You say the first thing that comes in your head, and sadly the word "asshole" was the second word he uttered prior to being an outed prick.

Oh dear. The longer Youtube clip has a cesspool of racist and hateful comments seemingly upvoted by like-minded keyboard racists. Makes you lose faith in humanity. Reported a load of them.

That black kid trying to defend him..whoa...what the hell?

That's the problem. He has a shit ton of impressionable kids as fans. They don't know any better, their icon us being attacked!

I am glad I have never been this way. I drop people fast as fuck when they turn out to be assholes.

Sorry. I guess It's racist if it offends people. That's the line you have to draw.

Well, yes the very use of the word is offensive, no matter how many people want to be edgy by saying "my nigga."

Do people not understand the history of the word? It's not like the use of it is not controversial, even among our (African American) community. There are questions of self hate versus subversively taking the word back to drain it of its' power. It's not a simple thing.

And if you're using that word, and you're not black, you do not get benefit of the doubt. You aren't taking the word back or weakening it's power. You are taking advantage of its history and the pain that comes with it.

It's pretty damn simple in that regard. If you are white, and use the word, fuck you.

it is, i could say it to you, and guess what? nothing will come of it, its just a word.

This reminds me of 3rd grade when somebody told on someone else for giving them the finger and then our teacher stood in front of the class and flipped all of us off telling us it's just a finger that doesn't mean anything.

I would've given anything to have the principal show up at that moment.
