He's a low-life.

He has everything one could possibly want in life. Beautiful girlfriend, massive house, mega rich. With all this he thinks to himself 'I know what I'm gonna do, I'll hate ethnic minorities' because he thinks they're beneath him no dpubt.

I can't believe he still has a platform. Any other form of media and the host said what he said and they'd be gone. It's unbelievable.

The point in condemning it each and every time is to do just that; condemn it and show that it won't be tolerated or kept lightly. If anything the more it becomes apparent that saying the n-word is a compulsion for him, and that he is unwilling to take people's feelings seriously, the hotter the fire should burn.

Not just a case of "oh whoops, there I go saying n***** again!".

Sure, I understand that. I guess it just upsets me that it's things that this that seem to get such a spotlight on them. Though I guess it's good for the countless kids who watch him to realize that they shouldn't do as he does, when they see how condemned it is.

It's just too bad this happens at all. I hear this kind of thing on a daily basis from my family :(

That's just a philosophical technicality. Humans instinctively judge everybody they see based on appearance , even if just a tiny bit, which in turn causes them to have some expectations as to how that person might act. Ergo, everybody is racist and sexist and everything else-ist.

In practice though, this is an entirely different thing than actively having negative thoughts about another race as a whole.

This is just more concrete proof we have a massive problem with racism (as if we needed more, smh)

What SHOULD happen: someone says something awful and racist, gets ostracized from the community at large, many people speak out against him, and his career is for all intents and purposes, ruined.

Instead, we have people coming out and defending him, siding with him, taking "the middle ground" (what fucking middle ground is there? Racist assholes and the people who are hurt? How is there any fucking "middle ground" period? Seriously wtf.) and for the most part his life is largely unaffected because he's white, rich, and "famous".

I keep reading these threads hoping to see this guy get thrown to the wolves, but instead it's just a lot of bullshit "WELL HES NOT REALLY RACIST YOU GUYS" like no, fuck outta here.

2) If he wasn't, that doesn't make it OK regardless.

As soon as you say or do something that affects these "celebrities" in a personal way, oh you crossed a line, words have meaning, you can't just say/do that, you went too far!

Using racial slurs, though? Gosh that's perfectly fine because it doesn't hurt me personally, and I don't even have a basic grasp on the concept of empathy, or care about anyone at all besides myself and my hilarious persecution complex!!

I don't care how "good" of a person you think you are, or your personal beliefs, or what you see yourself as: if you go out of your way to say/do something that you know will hurt others, you are garbage. "It's just a joke!" Doesn't fucking fly, if it hurts others it's not funny. If it hurts others, and you damned well know it will, then you need look deep inside and heavily reevaluate yourself as a human being.

Can we have a discussion in a separate thread about the Blue Hole side of things too, without focussing on how pdp is a racist asshole? He is, and this should be discussed too, but I feel how pubg deals (or non deals) with this, and bans lesser known streamers and players by clearly measuring their actions differently is worthy a separate discussion.

They know exactly what happened, repeatedly. If a streamer as big as this would have reported someone of using racist slurs repeatedly, with video proof, they'd ban his ass. But they clearly don't give a shit in this case, and that's disgusting. No statement, no warning, no "last chance", no "it's ok we're fine with it" even while it seems they really are, as long as he's bringing in the money.

It sucks, but it also kinda derails this discussion on pdp himself, so maybe someone with a better grasp on the English language than me feels the same way and can put up a good thread about it. If that's okay with the mods, that is.

What really gets me is his ability to play victim after all that. I notice this trend with lots of YouTubers. The guy is rich as hell, lives in an expensive house, but he can't differentiate between punching up and punching down? I guess that's the case with many rich people though. They don't realize when they are no longer the "small man"

What's also hilarious is when someone tries to paint their indecency as some kind of heroic cause. It's like if someone dumped a bag of shit in front of your porch and told you it was only to get rid of your aversion to the smell. "Why do you let a smell hold so much power over you!?"

You think? My opinion would be: If they can ban people for stream sniping outside of the game, they can ban people for using racist slurs in connection to the game while streaming. The 'streaming' part imo is a huge part of this games' success and even daily game experience.

Pewdiepie went from being a much hated figure on most message boards to a well liked, important figure who must be protected, only after it was revealed that he was racist.

This won't work. He has millions of subscribers, so ignoring him is worthless when his reach is so vast. There needs to be outrage directed at Google and their advertisers for profiting from this scumbag.

It's not about him anymore, not really. Just ignoring it makes us complicit in this, it's saying "oh it's bad but he's not going to change" and further isolating those who are hurt by these actions.

We need to shout LOUDER and MORE AGGRESSIVELY and let it be known well and clear this kind of BS will NOT be tolerated, and it is NOT okay. Ignoring it sends the message that you can be a big a POS as you want and everyone will shrug their shoulders and go "can't be helped".

Instead we need to keep calling this asshole out for this kind of BS and making it very clear that he does NOT represent us, we are NOT okay with this kind of garbage behavior, and that of you pull this kind of stunt everyone will notice and shout you down for it. You don't make changes in the world by shrugging shoulders and "ignoring it"

Seeing as he is a liability to Yters and streamers, it's important to call him out often. And these companies should be doing their jobs and enforcing their TOS and code of conduct or face the consequences of harboring him. And it's this #1 YouTuber in the world that also can embolden all these racists to come out and defend him and antagonize people who actually have a moral compass. Steam forums for Firewatch, for example, was filled to the brim with the N word today and negative review bombs a plenty.
