Phil Spencer and Mark Cerny to Appear at Gamelab Live 2020

Phil Spencer of Xbox will give the Central Talk this year. Mark Cerny will also be present.

At the end of the article, they're claiming that Sony will discuss more about the Console in August. Perhaps this is where the teardown will take place?

Google Translation of the Article:

PS5 architect Mark Cerny will also return to the event - this digital year - to chat with Ken Levine. All talks will be free and live.

The days of non-E3 are long gone and publishers continue to scatter their gaming ads throughout the summer, but with the two next-gen hardware makers playing ping-pong with their console and game presentations, which not many expected was that the most recognizable faces of Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 would coincide in the same event, as soon as next week.

That's right, Gamereactor as an official media has just learned that Microsoft Xbox chieftain Phil Spencer will give the central talk at Gamelab Live 2020 . In a panel that will be broadcast on Wednesday the 24th at 18:00 Spanish Peninsular Time (CEST), the Xbox man will thus capture the spotlight of the event that will be held digitally on June 23, 24 and 25.

>As usual at the prestigious congress, other 'triple-A' speakers will follow, including names such as Mike Pondsmith (Cyberpunk), Tim Schafer (Double Fine) or Amy Hennig (2018 Honor Award and director of Uncharted), among many others. And the organization has also just confirmed that PS5 architect (and Gamelab advisory advisor) Mark Cerny will also join the party, this time alongside none other than BioShock creator Ken Levine.

And the best thing is that this year any fan, player or interested in general can see the conferences live and for free. Gamelab has been held in Barcelona for the last nine years, but this time, given the circumstances due to the COVID-19 crisis, the organization has seen fit to livestream the panels at no cost to anyone who registers for free (with other options payment available for professionals).

Microsoft was said to have an event dedicated to Xbox Series X in July, and both MS and Sony are expected to tell more about their respective consoles in August, but this will undoubtedly be an interesting and surprising stop along the way. What do you think they will say about the new generation?

This word: TEARDOWN has become a category of its own, almost like a living human being.
Cerny will release the Kraken once and for all right there and ....there will be blood. Probably, Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman will be present and I imagine Cerny arriving on the Black Pearl....
PS: Don't forget about 3d Audio!

"The ever-changing role of a Creative Director" is the name of the Ken Levine talk where Mark Cerny will be interviewing him. Don't expect PS5 related news.

The Phil Spencer talk sounds juicier: "Gamelab 2020 Keynote: On the verge of a new generation" but again, don't expect any important news here. It's very likely that he will mostly mention already known stuff in addition to the typical generic PR talk.

Talks at Gamelab are typically focused to devs. This is the full talks schedule : https://www.gamelab.es/schedule-2020/

In addition to Levine, Cerny, Spencer, Schaffer or Hennig, other speakers are Shawn Layden, Richard Lemarchand (Uncharted designer), American Mcgee, Minh Lee (Counter Strike Designer), Ian Dallas (the Creative Director of Giant Sparrow), Ilkka Paananen (Supercell CEO), Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Metal Gear movie director), Debbie Bestwick (Team 17 Executive Director), Rami Ismail (Vlambeer) and many people more, like 2 Doom Eternal guys.

This is the full list of speakers: https://www.gamelab.es/en/speakers-gamelab/

It's in Barcelona, CEST / GMT+2 Madrid/Spain timezone.

This is the website, it's going to be free streamed talks but you have to register:

Lol now they're both doing more system deep-dives in August. Welp, that's good news for those of us who want to learn more about them, that's for sure (y) .

Phil and Cerny should mock role-play one of the memes that's popular with them, for good fun.

Gamelab always posts on youtube shortly after the conference. It was there where the Road to PS4 keynote was given by Mark Cerny. Looking forward to this one.

This is their Youtube channel

Well, they only post there some of their talks, and some years they didn't upload any talk. Not sure what are they going to to this year.

Yea they tend to post certain popular talks but If they don't , I'm sure Microsoft will post it. Sony did the same for PS4 talks.

Interesting news

So I guess one of the main takeaways was that Phil wants to make sure the price is right for the Consumer regarding the Series X under the current Economy. He also noted that they got their feedback from the May event and is applying it firmly for July.

"mic drop" was often mentioned for this event. To me, that would be announcing price and pre-orders go live. I can't imagine when they have another big chance to do that after July?

Spencer after seeing the ps5 event is confident about their products for the hardware specs advantage

Ah yes, he did say that. He also said the same thing after the Road to PS5 video was shown. I guess you would never say that you're concerned about what you have lined up when stacking against the Competitor.

The fact that he says this means he knows what he's talking about. He didn't just acknowledge that they're taking feedback seriously from the May event, just to commit a much more grave consumer-interest PR blunder in the same interview. If he's committing to better framerates now, it might be wise to take him at his word.
