I've, sadly, read most of your posts in this thread. Your refer to them as if you've presented a logical or compelling argument. You haven't.

Your argument boils down to this...

• Many of the best Xbox games will be on PS5 because you want them to be and MS needs to make money (though, strangely this only seems to apply to the Zenimax games that you want).

• PS5 games will only be on PS5 because you want them to be (and apparently Sony doesn't need money or additional sales).

• One day Sony might have to make their games multi-platform, but not this gen like MS, no siree Bob!

It's just a ridiculous narrative that seeks to blunt the remarkable acquisition of Zenimax. 'Oh, that doesn't matter! Those games are all coming to PS5 anyway!".

They aren't, but be careful what you wish for.

If Sony is forced to do a future deal where MS licenses these games to them it will be on Microsofts terms and would indicate some level of desperation on Sony's part. They would never, ever accept a deal like this from a position of strength.

MICROSOFT are not the premier name in gaming atm, You might not know this but in the console world Sony/ ntindo are kings and by a country mile. hundreds of millions consoles to what, 40 million maybe.

Pc has so many other outlets to consider steam, bla bla bla the list can go on.

Microsoft do not have the trust nor the gaming pedigree atm to let gamepass sit on its own as an essential service.

I've been marinating over this some more over the last few days.
Being a Microsoft Professional I've seen Microsoft shift overall in the last few years. They have been setting them selves up for many years now to become the global force in productivity by merging all there services into fee based subscriptions and cloud offerings. Instead of offering licensed based software installation models, they now offer everything in the cloud with subscription based services. Office, Windows, SQL, Active Directory, Lync are all applications they have now migrated to the office 365 packages. Now some of the offerings that are coming out of these cloud services are absolutely amazing, Power Apps, Graph APIs, AI, Azure tools. This is truly a movement to the most powerful cloud initiatives the world has ever seen. All business around the world are jumping on board of Microsofts services due to the power that all these tools can offer at the simple click of a button. Its an amazing platform that's evolving if you truly get into the weeds of it all..

So now this big acquisition. I think we can all see the push to providing the same Software as A service models that Microsoft are using for their business and consumer offerings are being applied to the Xbox game services. They have the productivity services, now its time to build the Entertainment Services. Now what if this 7.5 billion dollars wasn't just about IP and Developers. What if Zenimax/Bethesda have some technology that can benefit Microsoft SaaS. What if Microsoft start implementing gaming technologies into there Office products? What f the vision is so much bigger than just games exclusivity. What if Microsoft are trying to deploy a huge cloud Video Game Service that's not just aimed at the players. A full suite of Video Game Services. Encapsulating the Concept, to proof of concept, to Engine building deployment, marketing to publishing, to playing to consuming, to esports, to content creation, all in one platform. Based off the other directions and decisions made by Microsoft, this is definitely possible.

I see Gamepass as Microsoft' first step into this Video Games as a Service model, but if you see the direction the company has been taking in the last 10 years, you would know that the Video Games as a service doesn't just stop at the consumer level. Microsoft CEO Nadella probably doesn't just envision the Microsoft Xbox Games Unit as a separate entity, especially if he throws 7.5 bill into a deal. He sees this as viable unit inside the Microsoft offerings that can provide value across the entire suite of Microsoft services, not just in a silo business Unit that's off doing its own thing. I can imagine Xbox services being implemented into the office platforms. Imagine a wellbeing service app in Teams that monitors how long you have been working for and throws you a Level of Doom for 15 minutes to force you to take a break. Meetings where all participants are interacting in a Fallout abandoned warehouse, the possibilities here are endless.

I seriously think we need to watch this space over the next few years. Whether some games end up exclusive or not, I don't think that's really the concern of Microsoft at this stage. I think they are trying to create something that none of us really understand yet. They have always done this with all their products. You always wonder why they approach a certain decision in the manner that they do until suddenly you realize that they were trying to take over the whole market with an entirely different approach all along. I think this 7.5 billion purchase is important to something we don't know yet. Some others have mentioned that Microsoft may have been making this deal due to the streaming tech that Bethesda had, and that could be a part of it. 7.5 Billion dollar deals have many, many parts of it. This wasn't just 7.5 million for Doom, Fallout and Starfield.

Remember, Majority of business' out there use Microsoft products in some way or another. Sony would be using Microsoft Servers, SQL databases and VisualBasic Tools to produce all their games, run all their platforms and monitor all their networks. They signed the deal to use Azure for their services, which isn't surprising since every single business around the world is either using azure now or considering it. Its just good cost effective powerful and available. You never know, Sony may end up creating games on some "Microsoft Xbox Game 365" platform in the future because it becomes such a behemoth, providing availability, cost effectiveness, ease of use and providing an extremely efficient way for getting a game from concept phase to consumer in 1 platform.

But then again this could be all a pipe dream and this is pure exclusivity to beat Sony.

I LOVED Evil Within. Some of the best games I've played this gen. Dooms were super fun as well. Maybe not quite at the height of their powers but not too far away from it, certainly no Bioware IMO.

Would it not look bad to buy something for so much just to cut its revenue stream over night by so much? Obviously been exclusive will bring in it's own money in a few various ways but would it make up for the turnover Zenimax makes today selling to everyone? It's a long term strategy and maybe a tough sell and introduces risk changing the business model.

If a Gamepass and multi format release works well I wouldn't be surprised if more X Box titles get ported over. Previous statements in the past have said as much (though merely likely talking about the Switch). I think they haven't been previously because they have embraced the traditional first party model for their other studios. If any company dares change things up though its Microsoft, as Gamepass has shown.

I could see it going either way tbh.

I'm not going to get into this with you, because you are normally a pleasant and rational poster except when you want something unreasonable to happen because it benefits Sony platforms. Xbox is not here to accommodate people who buy only the competing platform, nor to provide AAA content for Sony.

I grown to like and respect over time but in my first encounter with you I was ready to strangle you. You expected Obsidian to discount the Outer Worlds for Sony gamers because it was day and date on Game Pass. Didn't happen just because you wanted it to, and this isn't going to happen just because you want it to. either.

No denial, it is clear and it is a good acquisition. It also helps to understand that all the anti consumer / anti-time or full exclusives / etc... propaganda was just lashing out by a particular part of the fanbase that either felt vulnerable or had to hate/put down whatever was perceived as a strength of the competition.

Now that those people feel like they have the winning hand they are all about "games will not come to your console, suck it, salty fanboy, will have to buy an Xbox"... of course the sour grapes circle has the people that would say "well, never wanted crappy Bethesda games anyways"...

Outside of games already on PS5, and outside of games where a deal is already in place, and outside of Starfield where its close enough that a deal may already be in place, so Bethesda games coming AFTER Starfield, such as Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 5, Doom 3, will or will not come to PS5 If those game do come, i have lost, if they dont come to PS5, i have won..
Outside of those stipulations, no Bethesda games will release on PS5, UNLESS its through Gamepass on PS5.

Lets face it, if Sony had the spare cash lying about for big purchases like this they would do it and they would make the IPs they've picked up exclusive with maybe a PC release further down the line.

I'd honestly think Phil and Microsoft have lost the plot if the likes of Starfield (outside of any possible deal already in place), and Elder scrolls 6, Fallout 5, go to PS5.
I know some people exaggerrate some of the decisions Microsoft have made over the years, to make them look worse than they are, but putting 'system seller' level games like that ON Ps5 will certainly take the biscuit.

But imagine the extra pre orders and money that would bring in now before next gen starts. That's alot of money to leave on the table and if true a terrible marketing mistake.

I honestly doubt announcing games will be available at some point in the future is going to increase pre-orders. This is going to be a soft launch for MS, I'm sure they've accepted that.

When the move could push some hardware is when the software becomes available.

I'd honestly think Phil and Microsoft have lost the plot if the likes of Starfield (outside of any possible deal already in place), and Elder scrolls 6, Fallout 5, go to PS5.
I know some people exaggerrate some of the decisions Microsoft have made over the years, to make them look worse than they are, but putting 'system seller' level games like that ON Ps5 will certainly take the biscuit.

Nice way to dodge and side step the point and flip the argument around. All the mean Sony money batting and being anti consumer with exclusives was more about envy / being upset it was not one side doing it (did not see you and others cheering when Sony was getting those exclusives as when other purchases were made ).

I think that is pretty clear that if you enjoy playing on consoles and you like Bethesda games, after Deathloop and Ghostwire, you will need an Xbox Series.

The same way if you enjoy Final Fantasy games and want to play them on day one, you should buy a Playstation 5.

Playstation 4 IS my second console, and playstation 5 most probably again be my second console. But not because I am like you, but because microsoft offers me the better hardware and the better value for my money too.
