Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, closed the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 with the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, but before showing a cinematic of the new installment of Activision's shooter, he dropped a few hints about the games coming next year. In 2026, Xbox turns 25, and the company wants to celebrate with Fable, Forza, and Gears of War: E-Day, along with the return of a mysterious classic.

"Next year, Xbox will celebrate its 25th anniversary. It's a huge achievement for the platform and the franchises you've helped build and popularize," Spencer said. "We couldn't have done it without everyone who's been with us on this journey. As we think about how to attract a new generation of gamers to these iconic franchises, I'm excited to share that you can celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and the return of a classic that's been with us since the beginning."

FFS, the entire industry isn't going to shut down over one game.
Imho they should push most of the games before sept 2026, gta6 gonna get delayed again 4 sure, we didnt even get proper gameplay trailer, so sept-dec 2026 thats actual window gta gonna launch, plenty time to squeeze games before that. at least 2 out of 3, and launch 3rd one at least month after gta6 for some leeway.
If gta6 has new date(say early dec 2026) then u can delay last of the 3 to early february and it will be fine too.

So why the fuck didn't they show anything this event. I was gutted to not see any E-Day gameplay. All the leaks suggest it's going to be the showpiece for UE5. Is it to not distract from their remaster re-release?

They will probably do a show in January next year and reveal gameplay for all those games.

And will probably reveal next gen Xbox along with them. That would be proper 25th anniversary celebration.

Fable at this stage needs a release date of late 2026 to not become the next Duke Nukem Forever. E-Day can slip a bit as it was only announced last year, but Fable has absolutely no excuse.

They need to get this thing out and stop dropping trailers every couple of years in the hope it keeps those few who are still interested hyped. It looks like they've got the engine and the staff, now they just need to deliver.

It's embarrassing at this point.

Seriously? We've seen enough to know it's coming along very nicely but let's not pretend this is some limited scope corridor shooter that can be churned out in a few years. It's a fully open world action RPG that looks stunning, how fast can any developer make that type of game? Not to mention PG has never made a game in this genre before.

Celebrate it with bringing back blades for the 360 consoles now that the store doesn't work and they are essentially dead machines.

For our 25th anniversary, we bring you a licensed PC and, we hope, at least one of these games on time

Nothing special about consoles anymore. Not since the 360. All consoles going forward will be licensed PCs lol. That's what the PS5 and XSX are now. Nextbox might even have Steam, which is even better than a closed box traditional console.

Its not. They will plan the releases around it i am sure.

I think they did give the limelight to the games they have this year tbh. The only thing I was disdapointed about was fable. I wanted more this year.
Has to be Halo right? What else could he be talking about?

Yeah master chief collection or something.

What made the 360 not a licensed PC? What was so special about that? By your apparently very broad definition, that, and the first Xbox, were just PCs too?

It's probably Spyro. No one says "return of a classic" for Halo.

He's referring specifically to Halo CE.

It'll be an UE5 remake of the first game for 80 dollars that will be multiplatform. It'll release no later than November 15th, 2026.

Everything has been pointing towards this.

It was the last console to actually be better than high end PCs for about 6 months iirc. That's a thing of the past. Consoles at launch are essentially mid grade PCs anymore with no real custom parts like the "emotion engine". So if MS has Asus make the next Xbox, who cares? They wouldn't do much, if any better anyway.

Yep. Especially if it's a high-priced title like it's rumored.

Halo 1-5 plus Reach remade over the next 4-5 years at 80 dollars a pop.

Let's say each Halo game on average sells 7 million copies at an average price of 65 dollars.

You're looking at 2.73 billion in revenue. With a take home of at least 2 billion dollars. That'll safeguard Halo Studios in making the next Halo game easily. And I think 7 million is probably pretty conservative.

I honestly think making it a $80 game would be delusion (look at how all the breakout titles of this gen are all sub-$70!). A key part of it has to be multiplayer and they need a player base for that.

Unless they plan to lean on Halo Infinite as a sort of catch-all F2P multiplayer?

I doubt Infinite gets ported to PS5.

They've already announced they're going to 80 dollar games. Halo remake coming to PlayStation is something they'll want to get as much revenue out of as possible.

It you're suggesting a UE5 remake of Halo CE releasing multiplatform next year, I like that idea, it would be massive.
