Phil - "Well 3 of the 5 games nominated for Geoff Keighleys game of the year you can't find on Xbox so metaphor it is." And yes I refuse to accept elden ring DLC being nominated.

Everytime this guy's speaks the Xbox hardware gets less and less value for the player.

I really like the series x as console, but holy fuck they are completely killing the hardware with wrong decisions and completely stupid comments....

"I look at Hardware as a critical piece of our strategy"

I mean sending your exclusives games to other consoles will definitely help you right big man??? 🤣🤣🤣

I don't judge him, at this point what can he say?
I do, I know he's a walking PR machine spewing whatever is necessary to prop up the Xbox brand, but at the same time his decisions over the years lead that same brand where it is right now, not even able to sell 3 million units in it's main land

nintendo is the only one who has exclusives, sony puts their games on pc. on top of that sony doesnt make good games anymore.
The thing is Sony does have exclusives. Not many but they do have them. Sony just won goty. So you might not like their games but they objectively make good games. The same way I think Nintendo makes shit games but it's obvious to me that a lot of people love their games. Not everything has to be for everyone.

Also the only place you can play all goty nominees.

When will this dude finally understand that it's the games that sell the hardware and not vice versa? The most powerful system has never completely won a generation.

They see their hardware as critical and think people will buy their box for being more capable or innovative without any exclusives.

They also have no mid generation update and no official info about a new generation coming.

Fail Kung Fu GIF

The guy runs the show for MS for the last 15 years yet he still missed the memo from the last 40 years?

It's all about the software dumbass.

Not sure I understand the title and I'm not trying to start anything but when has Xbox ever won in hardware?

Xbox 1 Finished second to PS2
Xbox 360 Finished 3 to PS3 and Wii
XB1 Finished 2 or Third if you wanna include the Switch or not.
XBS will finish second or third if you wanna add the Switch or not.

So I don't get the Our hardware winning?

The question becomes is there a market for a high end unsubsidized Xbox and the real answer is no there isn't, there is barely a market for a base subsidized xsx.

But the catch is that it doesn't matter because it'll be unsubsidized... If they're making pure profit off of it, Microsoft won't care how many they're selling as long as they're keeping people in their ecosystem and probably still giving them an option cheaper than going to PC without them.
There's still a minimum viable volume of product that has to be sold to "break even" tho with mother Microsofts profits helping the Xbox business doesn't operate like others.

Games aren't important. What's important is our hardware which doesn't compare to the Pro.

Phil, probably should have continued not talking. He's looking really sad trying to spin what's going on with Xbox.

which leaves them with a chance to sell expensive consoles that would hurt PlayStation way of building a large user base to sell software.
Expensive does not build a larger userbase. We have a very recent example of this using the XB Series generation. If they go with expensive it is to retain their loyal/hardcore customers and they will let Sony and Nintendo sell their software.

Re-read what I said.

I said they want to hurt the PlayStation's way of doing things , which is building a large user-base

They'll easily sell a few million to die hard xbox fans regardless of the price.

I do not agree that they are hurting PlayStation's way of doing things. They are catering to it. The only way they are going to hurt PlayStations way of doing things is to go after the walled garden approach which is exactly why you heard recent comments from Phil speaking out against them.

I said they're going to try .

PlayStation is king at selling consoles over a long period but what Microsoft want to do is kill the generations & push out all these different devices that will play Xbox games .

I think their next big move will be to go after walled gardens on consoles when they no longer need one. That is the only way they are going to hurt Sony (and Nintendo) and get out of paying them that 30% cut. You can quote me on that. 😜

I spoke on this months ago they will get the courts involved

He doesn't decide anything anymore, he's just a corporate guy who will say whatever MS decides, even if it contradicts his old statements.

His statement is ironic since theres nothing innovative or powerful about the Xbox console while the ps5 especially the pro triumph the Xbox

Pretty sure this is all next generation talk and not regarding current series generation:

-"I look at Hardware as a critical piece of our strategy"
-Wants the Xbox Hardware to be innovative and put Games First
-Saw the Roadmap for future Xbox Hardware last week

Hardware and features are a compliment to the actual content.

How do you expect to sell any future hardware with any significance if the competitors offer their own content along with yours. All it does is devalue your own hardware further and further.

And yes they will have the fans who will buy it day one, I was one of those people up until this generation started to repeat itself, how many of them will be left for their next offering after what's going on now?

All I see is wasted potential thanks to a bunch of narcissistic fakes.

Phil talks a lot of nothing about the hardware. It has been devalued beyond all recognition. They should have asked him why the Series X with disc drive is nowhere to be found anymore as well as the hardware shortages all over. He should have been put on the spot for that and pressed more on why should people invest in a console that is pushing people to invest elsewhere. Also should have brought up the abysmal sales of the console itself due to his poor leadership and strategy. A completely ridiculous and desperate strategy. An amateur interview at best with softball questions that didn't really reveal much other than MS putting their games on every other platform under the sun making their hardware even more irrelevant than it already is.

Nobody in the games "media" will ever hold their feet to the fire in direct interviews due to the nature of ball washing access media.

Wish I could get paid millions for my buffoonery. All these fucking talking heads serve no goddamn purpose, wish all these motherfuckers just got culled and were actually forced to work for a living.

Perhaps he knows they will have at least 30 to 40 million devoted brand loyalists who will support their next system regardless.
That is an enormously optimistic number. The hardcore loyalists ready to buy at any price (assuming unsubsidised hardware built to a very high spec) would be lucky to be 10% of that imho.

Just like a politician. Lots of words that mean fuck all. Not long ago he was saying its only 4 games and it doesn't mean everything is coming, then a few months later he's saying "there's no red lines". Today he's saying this and in another few months he'll be saying something else entirely!

They want hardware innovation to sell consoles... Offers pretty much identical console with less hardware innovation than the competitor.

-dualsense controller features.
-PSVR2
-portal.

Lol what a guy

It's true that Microsoft hasn't innovated really anything thus gen, but the PSVR2 is another good VR headset, and the Portal doesn't innovate anything...it's a single-purpose device for a local streaming feature any smartphone/tablet/computer handheld can do.

Dual-sense features are nice though.

I think the issue will be is that Sony can now prove in court that gamepass will hurt their business so I don't see MS winning that fight.

Microsoft didn't enter the games industry to create content. It's risky business. They wanted to be a platform holder and take 30% from everyone.
No one will buy new Xbox hardware. Microsoft lost the PC market to Valve, the mobile market to Apple and Google and the console market to Sony and Nintendo.

Makes no sense. Hardware wise. Xbox was > or at least on par with PS.
- Xbox > PS2
- Xbox360 = PS3 (objectively. 3rd party titles performed better on it)
- Xbox One < PS4. Xbox One X > PS4 pro
- Xbox Series X trades blows with PS5 . so say =

IMO. Xbox brand just hasn't been managed properly for the last 12 years or so.

The sad thing is, his supporters echo his sentiments.

You and other Xbox gamers not judging him or holding him accountable is why he's been allowed to run the Xbox brand into the shitter.

Xbox fans cheerleading mediocrity for the past two decades is why Xbox is now a glorified 3rd party games publisher.

You're part of the problem.
