Samsung (Model SPH-V5400), who seems to be one of the most pioneering companies in the mobile space, has announced the first cellphone merged with a 1.5GB drive. I've been waiting for this day for a long long time because this is where I see it all headed (although 1GB SD cards are down to $120 bucks now).

The phone has a 128x128 OLED screen on the outside and a 320x240 pixel LCD on the inside. By this time next year I expect to see even more convergence devices along these lines.

That's a neat phone, but I wonder what the battery life is...
I'm still waiting for PDAs to have mini-HDs in them.

Actually, although the topic doesn't match the post, it is reality.

BT in the UK are working on a home/cell solution. you have one phone, and when you are at home it connects via your landline using DECT or similar. When you are out of range of your home basestation, it switches to the cellular network.

Nice idea. Keeps your potential costs down, and also keeps BT's landlines in business.

That sounds great, I wished the providers in my country would do it too. 'Normal' phone bills aren't too high here, but to get your connections is mad expensive. One provider is offering a free-call program, were you only pay 4 Eurocents to start a conversation without additional costs (as long as the call is within the country) but when the costs to get your house connected in the first place are like 250 Euro's, it's not an interesting option :/

In Canada thats what FIDO offers. Well it doesn't have these new phones but they will replace your cell phone and home phone service for one mobile phone service. They call it City Fido. Regretably, only from FIDO.
