thinking of getting my next modded xbox with an LCD screen for music browsing with the TV off. (20 characters x 4 lines)

Firstly, does anyone have any pics with an LCD mounted on their xbox?

Secondly, anyone got any comments on how practical it is to navigate/play music just using the LCD?

I would wait for Team Xecuter's new case replacement. They're replacing the full front panel with a way that holds the LCD screen. It looks nice in the prototype form already. When that comes out, I'm going to upgrade to an X3 chip.

what sort of timescale are they looking at for crystal cases?

How about the actual practicality of the LCD for real world use? If its not possible to browse and stream mp3s without the TV on, then I'd just skip it altogether and just use the TV.

Needs to be usable by my wife.

i love my Xecuter 3, got it on friday, can't wait for the pro panel...
it's supposed to have a 4 line LCD, IR module and USB ports...

I'm curious what the IR module does. Do you think they'll have it so you can actually power it on?

The place I'm going to get my new one from (same as cockles recommended for my first), fits the LCD screens into the front panel just like the team executer version. They just sent me a pic - looks really nice.

As for the IR mod, I would guess it allows you to power on/off. There is already a separate mod that allows you to do that.

yeah, it would allow you to turn on/off... the Xecuter 3 has a pin adapter on its Power/Reset miniboard for it..

Ya, I knew about the mod but wasn't sure if the X3 incorporated that into its design. That's awesome. Now I'll have a completely remote functional Xbox Media Center. Definitely hopping on board this one.

We have now managed to add 2 x USB ports to the X3 Control Panel. First sample is expected next week and the final product will be shipped in time for Christmas.

I can't remember what chip I've got in my current XBox, definitely an Xecuter. Got it done around last December, is that likely to be 2 or 3? Would I be able to get it modded with an LCD screen?

3 came out a couple of months back and I believe you'll need to upgrade to a 3 to use the lcd screen.
