I think the problem with kids nowadays is they live in an echo chamber. They don't do the research into anything, and whip each other up into a frenzy. When you ask them why they want to vote one way or another, they say because I'm gay. Ok but what about the policies *shrug*.
My daughter (middle school) tells me she wants Harris to win. So I calmly sit down with her and ask why? Because she and her friends (also middle schoolers) hate Trump. Why? I don't know. Wait because he said people eat dogs. I said OK. I said, Trump is kind of a jerk but here is what I know about his policies. I explained to her how the media tried everything in their power to lob softball questions at her and she couldn't answer the questions. I explained to her about the voting process, electoral college, popular vote. I told her, not only did he win by electoral college but he also won by popular vote, something that hasn't been done in quite a while.
I am like it is not ok to hate someone because your friends do. You need to think for yourself and learn. Knowledge is power.
She walked away, lol, her eyes were kind of glazed over. But she said, ok so maybe I don't hate him, but he still said people eat dogs.
I figure ok..baby steps lol
