Yeah. But I think the same can be said for most Pokémon these days.
I don't think the newer Pokemon are nearly as unique or appealingly designed as the original 150 were.

Those fan creations are clearly heavily based off Pokémon from across several generations though, so I don't think the point stands.

Those fan creations are clearly heavily based off Pokémon from across several generations though, so I don't think the point stands.

Yeah, but as a very, very casual Pokemon fan who used be a hardcore Pokemon fan, I can't even tell the difference between generation 4 and generation 5 Pokemon. Nintendo's formula for designing new Pokemon these days seems to be to take an animal, or a hybrid of two animals, give it a couple of exotic colors, splash some sort of tribal paint design on there, with plenty of stripes and triangular shapes colored around the chest/arm area, (I'd post examples, but I'm trying not to start something here) and presto! New Pokemon. Weren't at least a few of those fan Pokemon totally original? It's really hard for me to tell, because even the official Pokemon all start to look alike to me.
