Whats funny is her father got her in to voice acting. He is a Canadian actor who also was the voice of Sabertooth in XvSF and the X men animated series.

if i remember correctly these types of pattern are called "moiré"-pattern. the weird patterns you sometimes see in see-through curtains are caused by this!

It's a matter of resolution, both of the image and our retina.

Trivia: That's how they did the swirling pattern on the front of the communicators in the original Star Trek series, except the lines on the two layers were straight out from the center instead of circular. There was a small motor inside that turned one of the layers, made the whole thing look like it was moving.
