Wife and I are seeing this tomorrow. It took little convincing after I showed her the trailer.

I think I'll watch this alone.
I think I've forced my friends and family to watch too many bad Nic Cage movies. Now everyone is skeptical when I'm like "Hey there's this new Nic Cage movie that people say is really good!!!"

But that's one of the good ones

Not everyone appreciates the unintentional comedic genius of that movie.
It really is wildly more entertaining than any serious remake could be. It is the perfect example of totally dull, pointless film being made better simply by dropping Cage in it.

ain't watchin no trailer/spoilers but on face value it sounds like The Rover, which is an awesome movie.

Just watched it. Never heard of it but the wife told me there was a new Nic Cage movie and I immediately booted it up.

It's a great film but some of the responses in this thread make it seem like something it most definitely is not. Some folk are going to be very disappointed with it lol

Just finished it.

As per usual the hype makes it a disservice.

The story and characters are nothing new or, truth be told, that special. The script is elegantly simple though and the directing is very solid, very moody. Hard to believe this is a debut; it shows a lot of confidence.

Worth a watch.

If Wick has Gun-Fu, Brad has a Cook-Fu that hits hard in the feels.

Just saw it.

It is not an action film. Do not go in expecting John Wick. It is, however, a profoundly brutal meditation on cosmic loneliness with a sharp knife twist of a final scene.

This thing hurt so good I still have a twisted grin from its aftermath (I'm a sadist). Fucking loved it.

Yea, watched this Saturday. Pretty great acting by Nic cage and some great supporting characters. My issue was some stuff feels out of place in how they made it look like this dark underground of something else.

When its mostly about dealing with grief.

My issue is a lot is unresolved, but maybe thats the point?

Saw it yesterday. Great movie and a solid performance from Cage, as usual when he is actually given good material to work with.
And yeah it's not action movie, so don't go in expecting that.

Though in a way it sort of is like the John Wick of cooking.

I will go as far as saying that maybe the director, that is also the writer, proposed himself to do a realistic John Wick, one focused on grief instead of action.

I mean...

Two reclusive, eccentric guys. Both legends of their trade that they left due to a similar reason.
Same tragic death destroyed them as persons.
Same coping mechanism: an animal that in both cases ends killed/kidnapped.

Hell, whats that fight club type thing in the basement of the abandoned hotel if not a nod to Wick' secret assassin society because what other purpose does it even have?

His agent must tear his/her hair out, trying to figure what scripts to send him....The man is a total enigma.

Hmm, you're telling me this Critics' Consensus is true then?

CRITICS CONSENSUS

Like the animal itself, Pig defies the hogwash of expectations with a beautiful odyssey of loss and love anchored by Nicolas Cage's affectingly raw performance.

I can't believe this is real.
