I heard about this shit years ago but I wasn't a huge Floyd fan so I didnt look it to it any further...

Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz

This is by far the most rumored and talked about Synchronization theory. Many websites have been devoted just to this synch. Pink Floyd band members themselves have been asked if they purposely synched the two together. (Which they deny.) We think this synchronization is most likely a coincidence, but there are many things that match up that make it seem like "too big of a coincidence". You can make up your own mind about that!

Echoes and 2001 a Space Odyssey

This is the synchronization theory between Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A space Odyssey" and Pink Floyd's song "Echoes" off the album "Meddle". Out of all Pink Floyd synchronization theories, we believe that this may have been purposely done, the most. Because Kubrick had asked to use Atom Heart Mother (Pink Floyd, 1970) in which Pink Floyd denied and later regretted.

There seems to be a few Floyd fans on here so I thought I'd post this to see if any of you guys / gals have tried this or heard of anyother freaky syncronisations? I've tried the Echos / 2001 sync and it sounded phenominal, but I really want to try the Dark Side Sync; apparently the music and Roger Waters lyrics in particular match what is happeneing on screen exaclty:

The lyric 'Balanced on the biggest wave' coincides with Dorothy's balancing act on the fence

'On the Run' starts as Dorothy falls off the fence

Chimes and Bells start ringing as the Wicked Witch appears riding her bicycle

During the 'Time' guitar solo, the fortune teller's sign is shown with the words "Past Present and Future"

The tornado is shown in the background as the words 'I'm am not frightened of dying' are said

The drums start right as the wind really picks up and blows the trees from their roots

The singer calms down right as Dorothy is knocked unconsious by the window

'Great Gig in the Sky' is still playing as the house flies in the tornado

Side 1 of the album (vinyl) is exactly as long as the black & white portion of the film

The cash register in Money is heard right as color is seen in Oz (money = color)

The ballerinas enter on 'Us, us, us, us'

One ballerina seems to lip sync 'ordinary men'

Three men enter on 'Me, me, me'

I've never tried the Echoes/2001 sync, but I've seen the Wizard of Oz / DSOTM one a few times. There's a laser light show that plays a couple times each summer here that does the Oz/DSOTM sync as well. It's a lot of fun and there's definitely a feeling like it's all a bit too coincidental. Certainly worth checking out.

I'd love for someone to put on a showing like that near where I live but I doubt it would happen. Where abouts does the show take place?

I've seen it and it's quite enjoyable right up until Money begins, then there's nothing really coincidental, except for the Heartbeat thing at the end of the album.

Time/Great Gig in the Sky is some freaky shit though.

I've seen the Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz one at a showing that my college film society puts on (I think they do it annually but I'm not sure)...

pretty cool and definitely some things match up...

that's not to say it's perfect because at some point the album is over so they end up having to loop the CD from the beginning right in the middle of the movie, and at that point I noticed less synchronization...

Local art house theater did Dark Side of Oz. It was alright. Made even better by the fact that they also serve beer and pizza.
